Hi all,
Recently I started my first PF game, very relaxed game with mostly new players. The GMs are open to a lot of things.
My characteris a barbarian, invulnerable raver archetype, we are still low level and some character changes are allowed before we lock them in for the real adventure to start. My question is can you invulnerable archetype a bloodrager, or is that just way too OP? I can't find rules on it so I assume it would be broken home brew.
Let me know what you think.
Regards,
Cup

Not allowed. The Invulnerable Rager is a Barbarian archetype, not a Bloodrager one, so there's no overlap. A lenient DM might allow it if the Bloodrager had the same replaced class features at the same progression as the Barbarian, but the Bloodrager lacks Trap Sense. Legally, there's no way to make it work.

Why would a barbarian archetype apply to bloodrager? That makes about as much sense as applying an alchemist archetype to a summoner.

This looks a lot like people talking past each other...

To the OP, something being homebrew doesn't mean something is broken, for example, the homebrew on this forum is basically like 95% underpowered.

While that isn't a specific thing that has rules for it, that doesn't mean it is automatically over powered. (It may very well be, I don't know, but I doubt it.)

As far as "being overpowered" goes, the Invulnerable Rager archetype...isn't. A barbarian gives up Uncanny Dodge, Improved Uncanny Dodge, and the normal DR progression for DR X/-, where X is equal to half their barbarian level (and is doubled against nonlethal damage); they also give up Trap Sense to gain one half of Endure Elements (a 1st lvl spell effect) and 1 point of cold or fire resistance for every 3 levels beyond 3rd. The absolute most it gives you is DR 10/- (DR 20/- vs nonlethal, because we all know how often monsters try to take their enemies alive) and (Cold or Fire) Resistance 5...useful, sure, but not overpowered. You could get more energy resistance from even the most basic of items and spells that offer such a thing, and the DR is nice, but by giving up Uncanny Dodge and the Improved version, you're much more vulnerable to getting assassinated by some rogue, and giving up trap sense means you're more likely to get you ass kicked by an inanimate object.

Yep, just Wanted to confirm.

As far as mechanics go I prefer the Invulnerable Rager. The higher DR saves a lot of healing, the lacking trap sense is no big deal since you should always stay careful around trapped areas anyhow. And loosing Uncanny Dodge might spell out trouble for you, in all honesty it just enables your DM to use other tools against your barbarian. Before you can basically scrap any and all precision damage against the Barbarian.

I see how the IV is generally better, that is where I've started, however I think I am going to get a little bored without casting and am looking at getting hold of the casting side of things, I can get DR through decent armour after all. And still cast in medium armour without penalty.
So many awesome characters to play...

Wow trapsense a whole +1 armour vs an arrow trap ......

Sure keeping Uncanny dodge makes sense if every session has a rogue trying to backstab me .

I am huge fan of the Invulnerable Rager . I do not have a problem giving up skills that have a 5 percent chance of being used .

I spent a few years as an Invulnerable raver, pretty good years, I think.
