...just accidentally stumbled upon this image in the WotC archive (in the Fiend Folio art gallery):

http://archive.wizards.com/dnd/images/ff_gallery/50138.jpg

It's labelled "Fallen Hound Archon".

I don't think this actually made it into the book.

ANyone know if this got statted or used anywhere else?

Stat-wise, I'm assuming it'd just be a normal hound archon with an Evil alignment?

I would assume its subtype will change to evil and its magic circle SQ will be against good instead. Judging from previous precedents its DR will remain as it is.
From there on you can always give it a few levels of Blackguard (by swapping a feat or two and some skills to meet the requirements) or Ranger with favored enemy (humanoids*) if you feel like increasing the challenge.

*not technically legal for a PC character, but you are the DM.

Eventually it will transform into some type of devil I guess.

Precedent with Elder Evils (the celestial servant of the obyrith demon lord Sertruous) is that falling doesn't change subtype and DR - at least, not right away. You can have an evil celestial with the Good subtype.

I'd delay subtype change till it's finished adapting to the plane it's Fallen to.

There are two places that I know of off hand that has a fallen hound archon statted out.

The first is Thah Rahalar, the recipient of the (ever popular) divine minion template (http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mb/20050209a).

The second one I can think of came from a Dungeon Magazine adventure where the hound archon was a mirror of opposition duplicate that slew the original. That one leads a group of gnolls on a giant colossal sized beast rampaging through the wilderness. I don't remember the issue number though.

WotC's article containing the "risen" succubus paladin agrees with this. She is Lawful Good, but still retains her Evil and Chaotic subtypes, so she effectively counts as being every alignment simultaneously.

Good catch.

Off the top of my head, I can think of two others, although may not techincally be "fallen" in the true sense of the word...

(Spoilered as they may contain adventure spoilers).

There is a possessed Half-Celestial in EtCR, although Half-Celestial are not "true" outsiders with alignment subtypes anyway.

The main BBEG of the Shackled City hardcover is a fallen Solar (?) who has evolved into an entirely new creature.

Another representative of fallen angels is Radiant Idol from Sharn: two towers.

Another thing to consider is that you can transform into any animal typed creature that is considered a canine. The list of which critters that is is here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=20746056&postcount=34), spoilered at halfway through the post.

Two options exist there that a good hound archon would rarely deign to use: Snake Dog, which has a poison bite, and then the blood ghoul template. Combine them to get a free +2 to strength and con as well as a frenzy that will enhance it further, which should drive up the poison DC on its bite. Beast type updates to the animal type, I'm told...
