I can't seem to find the answer to this, I'm hoping someone can help.

Let's say I'm in a class that grants a small amount of spells per day (eg. Pious Templar) and I multiclass into something that grants "Spells per Day +1 level of existing class" (eg. Human Paragon) choosing the previous class.

I then complete the first class. What happens?

Presumably I retain the increased caster level, but what about Spells per day? Is it tough luck, you don't get any more, or do I follow the progression found elsewhere? (eg. Paladin/Ranger)

Thanks in advance

Tough luck. Add that to the long list fo reasons I hate 4/9 casters. Just like your bonus spell slots.

Tough luck. Just like how normall spellcasting classes don't get any more spell slots past level 20, independent casting prestige classes (assassin, pious templar, scaled horror, ect. ) don't get any more slots past whatever level the class goes up to, though their CL can keep going up.

If you want to load more spells onto such a class, you're basically stuck with Dragon Disciple, Wonderworker or Eunuch Warlock.

Soulreaver PrC (Dragon #297) extend Assassin (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/prestigeClasses/assassin.htm)'s spell list up to 9th level, but don't give any spells-per-day - you will need Improved Spell Capacity (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/epic/feats.htm#improvedSpellCapacity) for it

If you want to load more spells onto such a class, you're basically stuck with Dragon Disciple, Wonderworker or Eunuch Warlock.Mystic (Dragon #274) gives same bonus spells-per-day progression as Wonderworker, (2 on odd, 3 on even) but for the whole 10 levels, which mean +25 spells-per-day at 10th level
