I figure that there isn't a comprehensive vehicle handbook. So we might as well craft the resource.

During the Optimize this feat #9 (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?493792-Optimize-this-Feat-9-Races-of-Faerun-s-Animal-friends-p-161&highlight=animal+friends) feat, I came up with the idea of using toads as dray animals & using shared fury or mounted fury + bear warrior to turn them into bears. Mounted Fury wouldn't work, unless the animals in question could count as mounts while pulling a vehicle. Then I started looking into 3.5 vehicles deeper. And boy are they lacking a bit. So I compiled a list of them that I could find with casual searching and populated a spreadsheet with it. What are the useful bits of information to sort the vehicles by? Speed, ram damage, crew size, relevant skill for piloting?

The next step is to collate the vehicle augments.

For Eberron Airships in depth: this resource is helpful (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=14914.0)

So here's the list. Did I miss anything?

Speed, size, and price come to mind, I guess.

A Soarwhale (Arms and Equipment Guide pg.89) can be trained like a mount to carry a Gondola or Howdah.
They fly (20 ft. Good), are Colossal size, and have a light load of 44,736 lb..
A young Soarwhale costs 10,000gp and training it costs a further 500gp.
This makes them basically a zeppelin with a living lift bag.

This is an example why you guys are great.

Man that thing looks like an awesome thing to drop on the PCs via a loan from a powerful good guy for a first adventure, in a "kill as many orcs on this giant battle map as you can" sort of way.

As for the soarwhale, What is a gondola? No stats for it.

Are you intending to include Dragon and Dungeon magazine stuff? Because if so, there are some flying Gith war machines and the 3.5 spelljammers.

I'll make a post about them once a little more of this collating occurs, if folks can get me issue numbers. I'm not pdf diving into those things

Might want to make note of the differences between the AaEG and Stormwrack in vehicle rules, there's a couple small changes that are very important for comparing the vehicles. And as always I hate that airship link for the many many things it has wrong, but I'm not gonna dig up my old posts unless someone actually asks for it.

Gith: Astral Brig, Astral Skiff & Planar Raider vehicles, Dragon 309 p. 75.
Spelljammer: Various space-ships made by Illithids, Drow/Neogi, Humans, Elves and Gnomes; found in Shadow of the Spider moon which was published as part of Dungeon #92 (which doubled as Polyherdon #151).

Actually, if you don't want to touch Dungeon, you can instead include these:SquidShip and Tradesman (http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ae/20030821a). They're entirely seperate but seemingly in line with the SpiderMoon spelljammer stuff.

EDIT: I should note, the Gith stuff adheres to the A&E rules, as do the online spelljammers, but the Dungeon spelljammers have their own rule set.

There are the shadow walking Shadow Wagons from the Itinerant Bazaar.

Dragon 331 has an article about wondrous vehicles although I always thought the Beholder Globe (a hollowed out dead beholder that can be flown around using a few of it's eye beams) was the coolest. Here's the full list:

Beholder Globe
Chariot of Sustarre
Dragonfly Longship
Dune Yacht
Longship of Dread Shade
Palanquin of Beguilement
Smuggler's Wagon
Snipers Carriage
Worm Raft

monsters manual 2 has this thing called a "juggernaut"

It's more of a living creature, but man would it be fun to ride around on top of.

I'm sorry, but this quote is just too funny abd accurate in summing up the D&D RAW experience.

I don't have much to add, except to note that there's at least one spell (Planar Navigation, Sto) that requires the use of a vehicle. Oh, and wasn't there a monster that is a bit like a vehicle? Siege Crab from MM3 or MM5, I think.

Now some sort of Handbook would be fantastic. Have you guys that actively played with those vehicles and their associated rules found them to be reasonable and/or balanced?

This feedback would be great. Particularly the chariot feats in sword & fist.

As for the soarwhale, What is a gondola? No stats for it.
The Gondola is a passenger compartment hung underneath it and is shown in its picture with its statblock.
http://cdn.tabletitans.com/img/bestiary/Soarwhale.jpg
The Howdah is a passenger compartment mounted on top of it.
Those are just dictionary definitions of what they are.
Rules wise you can move around in the passenger compartment as if the soarwhale was not actually technically a mount, no ride checks required.

Riding a trained soarwhale requires a gondola or howdah.
A soarwhale can fight while carrying a rider.
Riders and passengers may fight with no need for Ride checks.
