Basically you have to draw your own image of the map, host it, and then link/embed it.

This could be as simple as drawing the map by hand and scanning it into your computer and then uploading it to Photobucket or using some drawing program. I have a vector mapping program called Campaign Cartographer, but I'd think even MS paint would work.

I use Inkscape (http://www.inkscape.org/) and serve them through Ripway (http://h1.ripway.com/shhalahr/map.php). I don't embed the maps into the forum threads, as it would give the entire page Horizontal Scroll of Doom™. And you can't tell with the current map, as I only have the starting positions right now, but as combat progresses, I add more maps but allow my players to navigate to older maps if they need to do so.

I'd say the best map maker that you can get for free is AutoRealm. It's what I use after a suggestion from someone here on the boards and it works great.
