Ok, FYI, the world that I home brewed with my friend is a hybrid of D&D 3.5 & Wheel of Time RPG. Wheel of Time is the setting, and our current campaigns take place roughly 1000 to 3000 years after the books.

With that in mind, imagine that over 4 thousand years before the campaigns, there was a golden age ruined by this worlds equivalent to the ultimate evil... and this evil had 13 famous servants known as the Forsaken.

Now imagine that there was a 14th forsaken... who became the first ever Lich. Jealous of the Lich's new found immortality, Ishmael, leader of the Forsaken, betrays the Lich and seals him in a tomb, and subsequently forgotten, alongside the secrets to becoming a Lich.

fast-forward 4000 years, and the Lich has been driven completely mad due to his isolation. As a manifestation of his madness, the lich developed 8 other personalities, one of each other alignment.

Out of boredom, he established traps throughout his tomb... and waited in anticipation for people to break into his tomb to steal his collection of treasures.

Thoughts?

It's a bit... Odd considering how hands on the Darkone is, and that the forsaken are pretty much immortal (The D1 does cast reincarnate and true rez on them as they see fit)
Porting WoT things over to DnDverses is easier than the other way around.
If anything a Lich feels more... Modern Black Ajah trying to be immortal before the forsaken were freed; or a template gained by too much tainted saidin

Oooor a separate evil. Someone going off the deep end in the brown Ajah or in the children of light to fight evil.
