Most adventurers scoff at the lowly basketweaver, humbly sitting in a crude hut weaving baskets out of rough reeds. In the world, though, there are a few basketweavers who have gone beyond their lowly beginnings, who have obtained the true heights of basketweaving ability; although they generally remain humble and rarely reveal their true skill, a master basketweaver with reeds in hand is truly a force to be reckoned with.

Requirements: 13 ranks in Craft: Basketweaving; Skill Focus: Basketweaving, must have made a basket with a value of at least 2000 gp.

Alignment: Any.

HD: D8.

Skill Points at Each Level: 4 + Int modifier.

The Basketweaver's class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Appraise (Int), Craft (all skills taken individually) (Int), Disguise (Cha), Forgery (Int), Gather Information (Cha), Handle Animal (Cha), Intimidate (Cha), Knowledge (all skills taken individually) (Int), Listen (Wis), Perform (Cha), Sense Motive (Wis), and Spot (Wis).

Practical Basketweaving: At first level, Master Basketweavers gain the ability to extend their basket-weaving abilities into a number of fields. They can substitute their Craft: Basketweaving skill (including ability modifier) for any Use Rope check they make, any Escape Artist check made against ropes, any Appraise attempt made on a basket, and any Disable Device check made to disable basket-related devices or traps. They may also substitute their Craft: Basketweaving skill for diplomacy when the topic of conversations is primarily about baskets, or when they are holding a conversation with a basket. At second level, this ability extends to substituting Craft: Basketweaving for any knowledge checks (including Bardic Knowledge) made when dealing with baskets; at third level, this extends to substituting Craft: Basketweaving for UMD when dealing with magical baskets, and they gain the ability to disable basket-related magical traps as if they were a rogue.

Basket Sense: A master basketweaver intuitively knows many things about any basket encountered. At first level, they gain the ability to substitute Craft: Basketweaving for the search skill when performing any tasks made in examining a specific basket or when looking for a basket, and can attempt to search for basket-related traps with a DC above 20, as if they were a rogue.

Basketwield: A master basketweaver is deadly with a basket in hand. A first level basketweaver can wield any basket, dealing lethal damage as if it were a 1d8 light bludgeoning weapon (with which they are assumed to be proficient), threat on 20 for double-damage criticals. At third level, they may choose to treat it as either a light or two-handed weapon at their option; at fifth level, they can throw baskets with deadly accuracy, treating them as throwing weapons for this purpose. At sixth level the damage for baskets increases to 1d10 and the threat range to 19-20/×2. At seventh level they can, at their option, choose to treat a basket as a piercing or slashing weapon instead of bludgeoning. At eighth level the damage increases again, to 1d12, and at ninth level the critical type raises to 18-20/x2. Finally, at tenth level, any basket that a basketweaver chooses to wield as a slashing weapon is treated as vorpal in addition to its other properties. The contents of the basket do not affect its combat capabilities, and master basketweavers never spill or drop these contents accidentally in combat.

Basket-summon: A second-level or above basketweaver may summon creatures out of a basket, mimicking the effect of a Summon Monster spell. They may use this ability a number of times per day equal to their class level, and may use each of the summon monster X spells once up to that class level (e.g. a third-level master basketweaver may use a basket for summon monster I, summon monster II, and summon monster III, each once per day.) Using this ability is a full-round action. The effect is otherwise identical to that described in the Summon Monster spells; the monster summoned magically emerges from the basket, even if would not normally fit out of it, and dissolves into smoke that returns into the basket when the duration expires. Caster level for this ability is equal to twice the Master Basketweaver's class level.

Basketspace: A third-level basketweaver gains the ability to store objects that are placed inside of a basket in a special extra-dimensional space known as Basketspace. They may store additional items in a basket of up to their (class level - 2) * the basket's normal capacity; items stored using this ability are inaccessible to anyone without a basketweaver's abilities. Treat the basket as a Bag of Holding in all other respects when used with this ability. Baskets may be nested within baskets, but only if there is nothing in the inner basket's basketspace at the time.

Basketspeak: A master basketweaver of level four or higher may speak with baskets freely using any language; others can hear the Basketweaver's side of the conversation, but only another basketweaver can hear the basket's response, or notice any response from the basket at all. Baskets are aware of anything that happens within sight of them, and are particularly aware of anything done to them or held within them. Baskets default to a helpful attitude towards a basketweaver, but tend to absorb some of their owner's views (particularly if that owner is another Basketweaver!); most baskets will be unwilling to betray the person they view as their owner. A basketweaver using Basketspeak may substitute their Craft: Basketweaving skill (and the associated ability score modifier) for any diplomacy, sense motive, or bluff checks made in the conversation; however, baskets are intuitively aware of who their owners are, so it is not possible to bluff them in this regard.

Swift Basketspace: A fifth-level basketweaver can automatically grab whatever they need from a basket without having to search around in it (as if it were a Heward's Handy Haversack). This applies to both conventionally-stored objects, and objects in basketspace.

Basketcraft: A sixth-level basketweaver may utilize their basketweaving abilities in the creation of magical baskets, substituting a Craft: Basketweaving check (DC 15 + spell level; class level must be greater than the level of the spell being mimicked) for required spells. They must still have the required crafting feat and spend the necessary XP and gold, although they do not lose this if their skill check fails. For the purposes of enchantment, they may fashion baskets into almost any shape and form, including basket-scrolls, long, thin basketrods, basket-rings, and basket-armor; these oddly-shaped baskets provide no normal benefits as equipment themselves to those who lack special basket-equipping abilities, but can hold enchantments intend for items of the appropriate type. A basketweaver making a basket intended as a weapon can work special material fibers (even metal ones) into the basket to allow it to count as a weapon of that material for the purposes of overcoming damage resistance and similar effects; this alters the cost by the same amount as it normally would to make a weapon of the material in question. Other side-effects of the material used are not applied.

Basketwalk: A seventh-level basketweaver gains the ability to enter a basket with a mouth large enough to accommodate him and step out of any basket on the same plane within a ten miles per basketweaver level; they must know the general appearance and location of the basket they choose as their destination. They may also reach into a basket and pull out any object from any other basket within this range, but they must know the object they are seeking as well as the general appearance and location of the basket in question. Both baskets being used in this fashion must consent to this use; this is simple for baskets owned by the basketweaver, and others will generally agree if they think it is harmless; but most baskets will object if they believe their owner is being stolen from or put in danger. A basketweaver stepping through a basket may bring up to one person per three class levels with him; all of those travelling through the baskets must link hands in a chain. Entering a basket is a slightly difficult endeavor, and takes a full-round action from everyone involved. Note that it is not possible to 'pull through' the baskets being used in the transition.

Far Basketwalk: A ninth-level basketweaver may use basketwalk to go into a basket and emerge from any other basket anywhere, on any plane. They must be familiar with appearance of the destination basket, although they need not know its location. This is otherwise identical to basketwalk, above.

Basketgate: A tenth level basketweaver may, once per day, use a basket as a focus to open a Gate, as the spell. Using this ability to call a creature costs the basketweaver 1000 xp. The gate appears in the basket and must be of the basket's size, so anything that comes through must be small enough to fit; likewise, creatures inherently antagonistic to baskets cannot be called with this ability. The effect is otherwise as described in the Gate spell. Caster level for this ability is 17th.

Unless I'm mistaken, you have to be at least 10th level to get into the Prestige Class.

Of course, possibly that was changed before I read the above message.

just great.

but what are his skillpoints per level?Whoops, fixed. 4 + int modifier per level is probably appropriate... since they're a crafting class, less than that would be pushing it, but they don't really have many skill-monkey skills, either. They really just have to be able to raise basketweaving.
