You have bene called to Thraben, the capitol of Innistrad in the province of Gavony. You have been in the city for about a day and stayed the night in the Red Boar Inn. A luxerous establishment in the richter part of town. During that day you have met three others who are also called here for the same reason as yourself. The next day you meet the bishop during an audience, an old wrinkly man who has been a member of the church longer than you expect yourself to live on this plane. It is a great honor to meet this man in person and so you dress in your fine clothes or ceremonial uniform if you have one. You enter the great hall with large pilars at the side. between each pillar stands a scribe or another clergi. It's quite imposing especially because where you come from the largest building is as big as the average house in this city. Imagine the impact the cathedral must have on you. During your audience he tells you the following: You have to travel to Stensia to visit the count there, or actually the son of the count: Doran Vess.

There are strange things happening in the Vess County and even from the manor itself people are dissapearing. And since the old count is dying the young son fears for his live and power for he will be the next count. Doran fears for his family and doen't want the same happening to his mother who dissapeared years and years ago, so you understand his fears. The bishop asked for you specificly, for your unique and very different skillsets and area of expertise. He might not have called for you by name, since he isn't involved in low ranking cathar's, but you are promising and the best of your regiment. Maybe it's that or maybe the Bishop jsut wants to send some random cathar's to settle this old debt he has with this family. Either way, you have to follow these orders.

After the meeting, Alexander heads to the nearest hospital to help the sick and wounded. As we noticed during the first campaign, this guy literally does anything to be friendly... it's almost annoying :smalltongue: . The other three head back to the Inn to have a good night's sleep before they hit the road tomorrow morning. Once the sun rises your cart is delivered and you let the beautiful city of Thraben behind you and ride through the grasslands untill in the late afternoon you come to a crossroad. There are two options: Taking the road south and go to the village Hanweir will cost you half a day more, but otherwise you have to sleep in the forest, so you take the road south. An hour later you arrive at the village. Two guards stand at the gate and block the entrence. They grin as they demand coin before they let you enter. However, they deal with cathars and a small intimidation check makes them set aside their bullying attitude and they let you pass.

A mob of people is gathered on the village square. They stand around a scaffold where 4 people are tied up. A man and a woman and two girls barely older than 10. On the scaffold stands a man wearing clothes you recognize as being that of a mayor. Next to him stands a man of the church of Avacyn. He reads the accusation:
Wander, Gerda, Lucy and Elisabeth Kord you have been found guilty for the murders of Maya and Frank Vorath and ... At this moment Alexander steps in and walks up to the center of the square. They tell him that the girl was found on the place of the murder. However the oldest girl mentiones the name Crovan. After some debate he manages to propone the execution and talk to the mayor alone with his three companions in the mayors personal studyroom. After some conversation it becomes clear that Crovan is the son of the mayor and that the mayor beliefs in fact he is responsible for the murders. He has put innocent people on trial to protect his son whever he may be.

At this point we stopped. and we can continue here on the boards. If it may come to a fight we will work that out on skype and otherwise we will see how it goes untill we 5 have time again to play on skype.

Persons of note:
Conrad Krieghalt
The bishop of Stensia, stationed in Thraben. Very old fanatical religious man.
Doran Vess
Oldest son of Odric and Melira Vess. Has three other siblings and an older twin sister. He reached out to the bishop to ask for help during this uncertain time when he is about to take his father's place.
Odric and Melira Vess
Odric is the count of a part of the province of Stensia. His wife dissapeared about 10 years ago and left him bitter and angry. He is dying.
Family Kord
There is not much known about the family, they are simple peasants and have two daughters. Lucy and Elisabeth or Lizzy. Lucy was found at the murderscene and the whole family is accused of murder. It seems unfair, but it's not uncommon for entire families to be wiped out when one of tyhem turns out to be a werewolf for example. It is drastic measures, but people are superstitious as fk.
Father Patric
The village priest.
Mayor Bernard Hanzo
The mayor of Hanweir, father of a son who dissapeared a while ago. This is a secret and only a few know this. There are some rumors though about him being a vampire, or a geist but none of this is certain.

Alexander Kane

Alexander was quite shocked when he got told to travel to Thraben in order to see one of the Bishops of the church. To have an audience with such a highly esteemed individual was an honor to say the least for a simple priest such as himself... Having only spent about a year serving as a Cathar and before that simply been acting as a healer for a small village that was his home. In any case he gladly accepted the task and made the journey to the large city. The journey was not very long as he was still stationed in Gavony at the time but this was still the first time he would have gone to any larger place than his own village.

Spending the few days in the Red Boar Inn was something new to Alexander. It had much of the luxuries he had never had access too during his life as a simple healer. Even though he had been serving as a Cathar for a while he spent most of his time in a sick bay. In fact he was even a bit uncomfortable with what he was offered feeling that he does not deserve this kind of treatment more than the people sleeping in the streets. But despite these thoughts he would take part of what he was given, but perhaps with more restraint than the others. He also got time to talk with his new companions that had been called to see the bishop as well.

Miranda, the young girl who supposedly bears some form of power... But not necessarily that of Avecyns blessings. Alexander would take the opportunity to get to know her a little bit and she seemed like a good person with a strong, fiery personality, at least when she chooses to show it. He listened to her story about her village being slowly picked apart by vampires and Alexander felt much regret at how the church had been so late to save them...He wonders if she holds any resentment towards the church for that...Another thing that intrigued him was the nature of her abilities... But seeing as she does not fully know herself he at least told her that he would help her any way he can to help her understand it.

Then there was Anne, the Werewolf Hunter from Kessig. She came across as having a rather cold, stony demeanor but friendly none the less. She did not seem to have much patience with him though and he felt he was mostly doing the talking but at least he got to hear her story on how she became a member of the Quiver of Kessig, which Alexander was most impressed by. But he was also told about the loss of her sister...Or rather her disappearance...Alexander felt sorry for her loss and tried at least to give her some comfort as best as he could saying that Avacyn might guide her way to at least learn of her sisters fate someday... The last member of their group Alexander did not perhaps have the time to speak to or see for that matter but hopes that he could perhaps get to know him some time later when they get some time to talk.

Then came the day of the meeting. And Alexander would dress for the occasion and prepare himself accordingly. Joining his new found friends at the grand chapel he was struck with awe and humbled from the sight...The building was massive and Alexander almost had trouble to take everything in. Going to the altar he would pray to Avacyn as he normally would each day he asked for her protection to those around him and all that live in this realm. That she will keep the darkness away that is slowly seeping in to their lives more and more and that perhaps he will be able to do some good with what the Bishop will ask of him. But not spending too much time on prayers he would join his companions as they would be led to the meeting chamber where they were presented to the Bishop. Alexander bowed respectfully and was honestly quite nervous but tried his best to keep his composure. As the situation was then explained to him, that they would be traveling to Stensia where vampire run rampant and how the situation was eerily similar to what had happened to Miranda in the past... He was quite concerned for how she would take it. Placing a hand on her shoulder he hoped it would provide her some form of comfort and let her know that he would be there for her if needed. But their mission was clear. Travel to the Vess estate and investigate the disappearances.

After their meeting with the Bishop and after a short chat with Miranda, to see if she was really alright with going on this mission. Alexander would leave his friends and make his way towards the local hospital. What first had struck him was that there had been no sight of any place for sick or injured in the church. At least not what he could see at least. Where he came from it was pretty much in the same building but he could understand that larger cities like this one would be able to keep them separate. However when he got there he was surprised at how small it was...Considering the size of the city and the amount of people living here...A tavern sized hospital could not possibly be enough... In any case he would speak with someone available to see what he could do and it was then he noticed the lack of experience or skill the people working there had...Alexander had first expected to see several more experienced healers and priests helping the sick and wounded but that was not the case...These people hardly had the tools or experience he had expected from such a large and rich city...And he kept wondering why he never saw any other priests like himself there helping...This concerned him...Do they not care for their citizens enough to send even a few priests over to help?..."Excuse me?...But do you get any help from the chapel?...Does any priests come here to help at all?...These people surely need Avacyns miracles more than most..." Alexander would ask one of the people who worked there at one point. He worked long in to the evening using all the resources that he had at his disposal...It was hard and tiring but seeing the hope return to the people that he helped and their families made it all worth it...By the end of it all he had done everything he could yet there was probably many others that needed help but he did not have any more time...He still has to follow the Bishops orders...Leaving slightly disheartened at the state of the relationship between the church and the hospital he tried to comfort himself in the fact that he had done everything he can and that he will pray for the continued safety of those people.

The next morning their cart would arrive and Alexander would have made himself ready and had a proper breakfast. Sitting in the cart Alexander would take the time to make some more Smalltalk with his new companions. Mostly talking about Avacyn and how great and benevolent she is. Then they came to a crossroad where they would have to decide to travel through a forest and sleep outside, but making their journey shorter. Or take the way to Hanweir. Feeling like the rest of the group and perhaps thinking it would be an opportunity for him to help and do the work of Avacyn, he voted for taking the path to Hanweir. Then after a while more of traveling they would find themselves at the gate of Hanweir. However they would not receive the warm welcome that Alexander would have expected...When the gate guard at first denied them entrance and then not only that, but also tried to get himself some coin for letting them pass...Alexander was most displeased...But keeping his temper calm he would once again ask the guard to let them in and with his words Avacyn would lend him aid, brightening the torches by the gate so they would flicker with her radiance...And the guards as they were taken back by this would now let them pass...

Now what awaited them inside the village was something Alexander had not expected. There was to be an execution...So nothing strange there...But what made Alexander worried was that there was a whole family tied up there with father, mother and two young daughters. And walking up to the scaffold while his allies decided to stay back he sensed something was wrong...He could not put his finger on it but he felt that Avacyn was telling him to intervene. And so he did...Speaking up he would halt the execution and speak on Avacyns behalf...Invoking her wisdom through a Zone of Truth more red flags were put up for Alexander when he noticed that the Mayor would resist his invocation... He would then question the family on the actions they are accused for. And as the truth was revealed the name Corvan was mentioned...And it was here that the Mayor would suggest that they would speak in private...And Alexander agreed...So was the execution was postponed and the group was taken to the mayors office.

Well inside the Mayor Bernard's office they would be quickly told to stay out of the towns buisness...Almost being threatened to leave...However through the persistance of Alexander and Miranda's fearsome personality the mayor would soon reveal the truth behind this execution and that this was not the first...Finding out that he had been executing people as scapegoats for the supposed murders that this Corvan, who is the mayors long lost son have commited. It was here that Anne would punch the mayor for his cowardice. Alexander would grab her wrist and scowl at her. "ANNE!...There is no need for that!...It is true that this man has done wrong and by all rights he should be punished...But understand that he is simply protecting his loved ones...Would you not do the same if you were in his shoes?" Alexander would speak to which Anne would reply. "If it was my sister who did that...I would kill her straight away..." Alexander paused and looked at her. "...Most people lack that kind of resolve, Anne..." He said as he would look back down at the Mayor laying there on the ground holding on his cheek.

Walking up to the mayor and helping him up once more he would comfort the man and through their conversation and with the help from Anne and Miranda they would convice the Mayor to let them search for his son and stop him...Starting by talking with the family Kord's older daughter...
