Was wondering if there is any ways of becoming incorporeal permanently at low levels (Not ethereal) because I want to be able to attack
I know of ghost template from savage progression but unclean if you need to take all the levels of it or just one
Also know ghost template but that's +4 La

Hmm, you can probably use alter self to take the form of an allip or shadow, if you are a necropolitan. ECL 3 at the earliest.

(trouble is, you don't get the incorporeal subtype, so it's probably not that simple - but the spell doesn't otherwise forbid you from taking incorporeal or gaseous forms, like polymorph does)

The easiest means is to cast Shapechange. Quite late though unless you cheese the ever-loving hell out of it. Technically tricks do exist to access level 9 spells early though, and all-day Shapechange enables among others permanent incorporeality. Probably too cheesy for basically any game though.

If I recall correctly, Telthor (From Faerun Unapproachable East) is a +2 acquired template for incorporeal that does not make you undead. It has the downside of causing damage if you leave the place where you are bound. Maybe a Druid with Acorn of Far Travel could manage it.

You could also take only one level of the ghost savage progression (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd%2Fsp%2F20040117a).

Savage Species has a ritual that turns you incorporeal for +1 LA. It's a bit pricy for low-levels, but handwaving the price would be an entirely reasonable thing for your DM to do.

Savage Progression template levels do not have to be taken in order. You can put them off until later, whenever that later might be.

Actually, it's very clear, you only need to take one.

Characters are not required to complete all the levels of a given template class in uninterrupted succession. For example, a character who takes a level of wereboar could then take a level of fighter and a level of rogue (or any other combination of other class levels) before taking another level of wereboar. A character must still take the first level of wereboar before taking the second, just as with a normal class.

Well, it's not exactly permanent, but there's always the druid method. Cast aspect of the wolf giving you the animal type, and cast ghost companion from ghostwalk, turning you into a ghost. That effect holds up for days/level, after which you die permanent style, so you need some raise dead effect to make it work. The becoming a ghost part is all technically doable by level three, but the not dying permanently part is probably gonna require a higher level. My preferred method is the spell cocoon from the spell compendium. It's an 8th level spell that makes the targeted corpse, in this case you, come back to life in a week reincarnation style without any level loss. Spell only costs 250 XP too, so this can be done over and over. So, you can just keep chaining those, week after week, and effectively become a permanent ghost. And, the best part is, you also get to be a full on druid, with all the power that implies.

There's also the other, completely and utterly different, druid method of accomplishing roughly permanent incorporeality. Take aberration wild shape, and turn into a kython from the book of vile darkness, specifically one with the phase organ kython weapon. It's not clear whether or not you can specify your form to that degree, where you can pick the rare kython that has that ability, but if you can then you get incorporeality that can be up as much or as little as you like. The duration on wild shape means that you can be a phase organ equipped kython forever if you so desire, at least once you hit a certain level. 9th tends to be where you take that feat anyway, so it times out pretty well with when wild shape starts to really last, but you can theoretically take it at 6th, eschewing natural spell for a bit, to be as much kython as you can as early as you can.

If you don't want to be undead the ghostwalk ghost template is an outsider

If you don't want to be undead the ghostwalk ghost template is an outsiderIt also sucks.

You can also take one of the type-changing feats, such as Human Blood, Human Heritage, Otherworldly, or Dragonwrought. You get all the good(albeit icky)ness of being undead while counting as one of those other things when it suits you.

You can always plant an oak tree on a demiplane that is timeless in regards to magic and cast one of the myriad spells that turn you incorporeal. That affects all of your other buff spells and effects, as well. Acorn of far travel is such a ridiculously abusable spell. :smallamused:

Well, there is a template Phantom (pg 131 of MM 5)
But you need to be CR 5 or higher to be able to turn incorporeal at will (Swift action). Otherwise it activates each turn when you move 10 ft instead.

There's a Vestige that can make you Incorporeal at will (Haures, available at EBL 11th).

You can also bind the Apparition Ribbon soulmeld to your Throat chakra to become Incorporeal for a limited time each day. Unlike the binder, you can get this ability through feats.

I dont mind becoming undead or anything else but dont want a ton of cheese ( non / less is perfered) and lower level is best
would the savage progressions allow 1 level of ghost and 19 of another class and not take final 3 levels at all?

would the savage progressions allow 1 level of ghost and 19 of another class and not take final 3 levels at all?Yes. And if LA buyoff is in effect, you can get rid of that +1 LA for the ghost level you've taken. Then take another level later, when you can buy it off, too. And then again a few levels later.
