I'm playing a Sage Rogue who took shelter in a library during his childhood.

I'm planning to pump his INT and take the Arcane Trickster archetype.

I was wondering if anyone has any good (or bad) puns to play up the background. Especially for combat.

Certainly whenever you turn in a bounty you need to say "book em".

Additionally you should play against type and make sure everybody knows that you always act "by the book".

Well, you can't judge a book by it's cover anyways. Just saying that so we're all on the same page.

I'm sorry, are you paying attention? You seem to be a bit...

Checked out.

If you fight dinosaurs at any point, mention you hope you don't go up against a Thesaurus.

If someone questions your fortitude, mention you don't have just one spine, but several! Then hold up books.

Only a few posts in and already some of these puns should be considered a crime against sanity.

And I love 'em all.

The library is the tallest building in any city.

It always has the most stories.

I don't Dash. I book it.

This is my familiar, Paige. She likes to turn.

I have a novel idea!

Do you have a name for the character yet? If not, call him Conan or something very similar sounding.

If this were a female character, she'd be stacked.

Any combination of Flynn, Carsen, Noah, Wyle would work better I think. Less obvious, but once others get it . . .

This only really works if the campaign is a law procedural but if anyone mentions three or four digit numbers as codes then gasp and make a pun based on what type of work is associated with that number with regards to the Dewey system.

-Get a flame weapon/spell, it's time to "cook the books"
-When a twist or complication comes up, "the plot thickens"
-Defeated enemies are "shelved"
-You "close the book" when completing an adventure
-Refer to all armored characters as bound (leather-bound, iron-bound)

If you do not make a remark involving the saying that the pen is mightier then the sword, I will have lost faith in humanity.

Let's not forget that borrowing a tactic means you've taken a page from someone's book.

You could also use a book as an improvised weapon and hope someone 'hitting the book' so to speak didn't leave a bookmark.

Oh, and being a librarian you'd need an item that lets you cast silence. Because, y'know, shush.
