Hello all! My DM is startin up a new game in a homebrew setting and I need to make a character for the group, here is the current team
Human swashbuckler
Lizard folk barbarian
Orc barbarian
Half elf fighter specializing in archery.

I have a few characters built and I wanted your alls advice before I make my pick

A halfling oracle specialized in healing:

A human vigilante specializing in two weapon combat and semi invested in CMB

A human Kineticist specializing in fire

And finally a human alchemist specialized in two handed weapons and mutagens

I think I'm most likely going to go with either the kineticist or the oracle. This is due to us already having two bulky melee guys, a dexterity based melee guy, and a single ranged character in the form of an archer.

Looks like your party definitely needs a healer. You do want your party to last more than one session right? Id go with the oracle.

Three melee characters plus an archer would probably love to have a Bard. Inspire Courage benefits everyone in the party, it's likely that the other members don't have much in the way of Knowledge skills (or social skills, depending on the Swashbuckler's intelligence), the Bard spell list gives you access to a lot of utility spells and the ability to use wands of cure light wounds, and a full spellcaster may well end up stealing a bit too much of the limelight from their martially oriented companions.

I'm thinking about it but our DM is willing to have a heabot NPC. We have no range other than the archer so I could see the Kineticist being useful in that regard. I'm just worried about my guy not contributing to the team.

Kineticists can definitely be useful if built properly, and generally fall into a similar power range to the post-WMH/AMH Fighter. For the party composition you have, Aether is probably a good choice of element; it can get a number of solid utility effects like, Telekinetic Finesse, Aether Puppet, and Telekinetic Inbisibility, and in combat Aether has some very nice enemy-control effects with Foe Throw, Bowling Infusion, and Telekinetic Maneuvers.

Do you think me being a mesmerist would accomplish the same thing? A mesmerist is a lot like a bard but instead of buffing they debuff
