New Gotham City?

Ok so I know about different cities in the DC Universe and I have been trying to find out more on comic stuff all the time and I just found something that is said something about New Gotham and I have read some comics and do not know everything and here is my question.

What is New Gotham City and why is it called that?

All I know is what I can assume which is New Gotham is just a future Gotham and what I need is an explanation for it and the name and why put new in the name. :smallbiggrin:

I believe that New Gotham City is one of the titles launched as part of DC Rebirth. AFAIK,it is set in present day Gotham and takes the place of the Gotham City title.
