Joseph, Sujio and Tiffania in Goldenrod

By foot, rail or just rolling out of bed, the three of you have made your way to Goldenrod city, greatest city of Johto, and hub of business, travel, news and crime.

The Goldenrod gym though dominates the centre of the city and today is even busier than usual: Whitney, who takes great care in the nurturing of new trainers is gathering young hopefuls to her gym in order to give them a gift before their journey starts, or so say the news stations and online news outlets streaming straight to the various televisual displays that abound in the city. There is even talk of a surprise celebrity guest appearance, which might draw out those with other motives...

[Lockon]

"So, Tiff, you been here before, right? What's it really like, you know, the stuff they don't put in the news or travel brochures?" Joseph asks, as he and Tiffania enter the city, hands behind his head and Caesar walking slightly behind.

[Yael]

Goldenrod City is her homecity, so she knows the streets as well as her own hands. That morning, when the sun rose, she would call on Star, even if they were in the same team, they didn't know a lot about each other, and that was kind of dangerous. Diavolo needed to be careful on who she would associate with, as in the long run it could be good or bad, so every face counts.

"King Crimson." She calls her partner out of his pokéball. "...'Krow." As always. "We're gonna practice battle again, today." And thus she would begin her training sesion with her Murkrow pokémon, intense training through direct and cold orders, aiming for a quick victory. Sometimes, she would order it to attack her, but that would only result on the bird taking damage, but it was all for the greater good, and Tiffania was making sure her pet would know that.Tiffania begins the day training Murkrow in Brutal Training, and using Taskmaster to apply 1 injury for the Hardened buff. Also, applying Experience Training to Murkrow (+7 exp)

Present.

"Hmm..." Tiffania thinks for a while. "The place is a big city, so it is not rare to find crime around almost every corner." She rose her hand to the tower building, the tallest in the city. "A city with structures as big as this one hides a lot of secrets, bad ones." She breathes and continues afterwards. "But because of the gym that established a while ago, the place seems a bit more safer, for lack of a better word." They would have walked for a block, at least, because of Tiffania's pauses and slow speech. "Regardless of the reason, this place looks a bit more crowded than usual, I wonder why that is?"

[Lockon]

OOC: Oh, yeah, training. Going to take advantage of that too, as long as there's no complaints.

Joseph juggles a handful of dirt clods for a few seconds before turning towards Caesar. "Alright, dude, try to dodge these" He chucks them rapid-fire at Caesar who dodges some but still gets pelted a few good ones, covering him in dust. "Hahaha, nice try but you need to watch where they're coming from and dodge them then."
"Toto!" They continue for about an hour or so, before a buzz from Joseph's coat breaks them out of their zone. Pulling out and snapping open his old flip-phone, he answers. "Yeah? ... Oh, Tiff, what's up? ... Goldenrod, eh? Yeah, I can make it. See you there." He stows it away as quickly as he had retrieved it, he turns to Caesar once more. "Well, dude, looks like it's the big city for us."
Caesar is Inspired and gains 2 EXP.

"Probably some event or sale... Free stuff is always cool. Follow the crowd for now?"

OOC: I'd also like to be casually keeping an eye out for Apricorns. Not searching hard, but if they're in an obvious location I'm going to try to grab some.

Diavolo looks around a bit more, they just arrived into the city and there's already a big event happening, probably free stuff, as Star said? In any case, the closest Pokémon Center would be nearby the crowd, so it won't kill to take a look. "Lead the way." She says and follows.
Got to note that King Crimson is most of the time inside his Pokéball. It's not like Tiffania is a cold-heart girl who lets him in to not bother about takingcare for him, but she prefers to keep his strengths for when a fight comes, and his Murkrow tends to draw attention due to its developed personality.

By the way, I applied training but if Experience Training is banned or just not allowed for first session, I'll remove it. Same with Dex Exp, I don't remember if it was issued before.

[Athelstan]

Sujio looks at Goldencity from the outskirts, performing some meditation to be calm before entering Goldencity "This is were it all starts Monev. A very different city compared to Fuschia City, and the gym is probably dazzling" no sound responds to his words, but a smile still comes to his face "We will play hide and seek later, you are to good at that game for your own good".

Sujio brings Monev in his pokeball into Goldencity, to tour the place before heading to the gym "You must always know the place you start your journey" not sure if Monev can hear from inside his pokeball or not, but when they are alone he speaks to him like they were family, probably drawing the odd look or the jealous one as some girls do tend to be drawn to him for a while, until he sheds them off casually and nicely, once he got what he needed. Information.

Present Time.

Sujio was a bit late, he got a tad lost in the big city, accustomed to smaller cities and towns, but he finally made his way to the centre of Goldencity and it's gym, where he would meet up with the others.

Yes, I think your team agreed to know each other from before, but it's fine if not, you can all converge in the same spot if that's preferred.

As both Joseph and Tiffania enter the crowd, she tries to spot the centre of atention, probably the gym leader. "All these kids are going to set off. The easy way, at least." She sighs. "We aren't short in time, we can see what's this about."

[Lockon]

"Probably the standard Dex rigmarole... What was it you wanted me out here for, anyway, Tiff?" His eyes flit over the crowd for anything or one unusual/interesting.

OOC: I think it's safe to say Joseph doesn't know about the whole Ouroboros plan, so feel free to point us in whatever direction you deem most interesting. Goes for you too, Athelsan.

Sujiois is hiding his frustration. So many people around and all he can wonder and think is what is happening. Until he realizes, they are preparing for their journeys, a bit of nostalgia as the memory of his own time to leave came, and accidentally ends up bumping to a rather attractive girl "My apologies, just got drawn by the crowd" sincere apology, but somehow even with the proper words it sounds distant. Sujio passes his hand through his hair slowly as if the small bump might have messed his hair, but it was more out of reflex, and hoped that as usual his good looks were enough to seem sincere and more charismatic than he really was "I'm new here, I wouldn't mind some assistance if you are willing" stretching his hand , and finally noticing the guy next to her "My apologies also, hope I didn't disrupt anything. My name is Sujio"

ooc:Well just trying to join the group, so we all know each other.

[Yael]

"I want to start... A journey." She stops. "But even with King Crimson, going by myself is dangerous, I'm still a little girl, after all." Even if she's being serious, her looks and voice can easily counter her own words. "That's why I called you to Goldenrod, for a... New game, you may call it." She stops. "Your crafting abilities may come in handy, and I may help you in whatever you might need, if that was necesary." One could easily say that she was teasing him because of her looks, but her cold stare towards Joseph's eyes could flinch even the mightiest pokémon with Inner Focus. "Care to tag along, Star?"

THUD.

Tiffania looks at the boy who talked to her. After scanning with her eyes, she let our her low-to-quiet voice. "Diavolo... Diavolo Tiffania." She noted his bulky self, probably due to training or excercises, but diferent than her. On the extended hand, she just stares until he puts it down, or until Joseph would strech hands with him instead of her. Even if he was just a kid, he is probably a trainer or an especialist in some kind of fighting method. "Have we... Met before?"

[Lockon]

"Got nothing better to do, really."

Post THUD.

Joseph accepts the handshake, with a decent grip. "No harm, no foul, right? Joseph."

[dmarks]

"Hey there, you three," a confident looking young man with the ribbon on his arm approaches them. "I need some help, and I can see you three already have your pokemon: just here to watch, eh?"

"There are more people here than we expected and we need some help handing out the pokemon to the new trainers: will you guys help?"

[Yael]

Charity? Diavolo thinks. But if I get to do this, I'll know which trainer has which pokémon, and that may be useful in the near of far future. "I'll help, Mr...?"

[Lockon]

"Sheesh, official folks enlisting the help of random citizens because they didn't think to check the dem data? You're lucky Tiff and I are nice folks. Toss me an armband and point me in the right direction."

"Hey, pretty boy, you coming?"

[dmarks]

"Rodger Evans, miss, but call be Rodge," he beamed back. "We've never done this before and wow, everyone turned out."

At that moment, the large circular pokeball icon on the front of the gym fuzzed and was replaced with a view of the inside of the gym: clearly a hastily rigged screen for the watching trainers outside.

On the screen, Whitney stepped out onto one of the many raised walls in the gym, which afforded everyone a good look at the gym leader. There was a surprising burst of applause and cheering, which Whitney appeared to be embarrassed by.

"Thank you everybody, thank you. Thank you all for being here today."

"I know it's a very special day for a lot of you here: the day you start your very own pokemon journey. Well congratulations and good luck, I say! I wanted everyone to have a chance to raise their own pokemon and have adventures just like I did: though maybe a bit safer, hahaha.

"That's why, with the help of our celebrity guest, we'll be handing out a pokemon to each of our young trainers along with a brand new pokedex! Thank you, thank you, now without further ado, the man without whom none of this would be possible: Mr Pokemon himself!"

The crowd cheered Whitney's generosity as an old man in an expensive looking suit hobbled out on stage beside the charming gym leader. A spotlight followed him and he stood for a while, waving at the crowd.

"Thank you, thank you. As the lovely lady has said, we are offering one young pokemon and one pokedex to each and everyone of you. Both the pokeball and the pokedex are state of the art, with specialist technology designed to keep you as safe as possible on your pokemon journey. Our lovely young assistants have taken your details, so please, line up in an orderly manner and receive our gifts. We wish you all the best with your futures."

The pair departed and the screen shifted back to its original image.

"So you know the plan now?" Rodge asked the group. He led them over to one of the tables and showed them a stack of odd looking pokeballs and neat, high-tech looking pokedexes. "One of these for every trainer whose name is on the list here," he said handing them out sheets that looked to have been recently filled in. "Take down the name of the trainer and the id number on the 'ball and the 'dex. Got it?"

[Yael]

So easy, even better if I get to remember details like their names. "Yes, we got it." Tiffania sits in a chair and waits for trainers. At any time one would go off the line, she would stand up and stare at him or her until he or she would return to the line.

[Athelstan]

"I see no problems with taking down names and id of ball and items" looking at the odd pokeball with curiosity wondering why or what is different than a normal pokeball. This is an easy job, but these pokeballs are different, probably just a normal pokeball that looks pretty for the special day?




ooc:Apology for short absence, had family emergency out of state.

[Lockon]

OOC: No problem, priorities man. Although the question now becomes was it completely resolved or can we expect you to fall down a dark pit again? I'm not saying you should blow off family, obviously, but if you know that it's likely to happen again in the near future, we'd like to know that too.

Not your standard balls, these. Have I seen them before? Joseph examines the balls while he's handing them out.

ooc:It's all good, I had to give blood, since apparently my grandfather and me share an almost 100% match for that lolz.

Looking at Joseph inspect the balls "DO you think they just look nice for promotion purposes, or are they any kind of useful?"

Under Tiffania's stern gaze, the operation proceeds a pace, with excited trainers collecting their prizes and scurrying away. Between them, they learn a fair number of personal details which they attempt to commit to memory for future encounters.

Joseph's study of the pokeballs identifies that they appear to be normal but with an 'X' shaped black harness encasing the ball. The harness appears to be hightech and moves with the ball: it's full properties would require a more thorough investigation, but it appears to be emitting a signal.

After the crowds disperse, Rodge approaches the group: he looks tired but still enthusiastic and is accompanied by a tall man in a sharp suit. "Thanks for helping out guys!" He called. "You've been a great help. Mr Pine wanted to thank you from the company as well. I'll leave you to it." With that, Rodge wandered away, and the tall man turned to the group: he didn't seem particularly friendly, and the smile seemed predatory.
"Thank you for helping out. My employer actually had a job for some eager trainers, and after hearing that boy mention you, I thought you might be able to assist us."

"We need a package transferred to Mahogany town. It's a bit of a backwater, and we don't have any one in the area. We'll pay you for the service of course."

[Lockon]

"Who's the recipient?" Yeah, doesn't take a genius to see this is sketch...

[Athelstan]

"What address and to whom?" This is obviously something wrong, but I need the money and this at least gives me some and I will get to know more of the area while I'm at it.

[dmarks]

"The package should be taken to the gym in Mahogany town. It is for the leader, Pryce."

"Shall we say $3000 now, and another $3000 when you have delivered the package and confirmed that with one of our agents."

[Yael]

''Sure.'' Tiffania answers before anyone else. ''Is it fragile, or requires special attention or care?'' She starts asking questions not leaving room for answers. ''Is it a priority, or can be taken there within an expanded amount of time?'' She lastly stops her talk, giving the impression that she wanted Mr. Pine to answer, obviously her glare won't help, but she finally remained silent.

[Athelstan]

Sujio was going to say something but Tiffania made the questions he was thinking. How bad could it be, it's for the gym leader after all even if it looks suspicious. but TIffania was like a torrent of words cutting into SUjio mental deliberations, frustrating him for a moment, but still looking at Mr. Pine for the answer and wondering if Joseph had more to say.

[Lockon]

Joseph simply shrugs at Sujio, tilting his head towards Tiffania. Yeah... still pretty sketch...

[dmarks]

"We would appreciate your dedication to this task: the journey itself is likely to take 7 days, but we are understanding, so 10 days to complete the task would seem fair. You should handle the package with care, but it is sturdy and light, so should not be unduly concerned with it."

"If that is all then can we shake on it and call this a deal?"

[Lockon]

"...Yeah, sure, why not?" He extends his hand.

[Yael]

Tiffania raises her hand to stop Joseph's, just before he stretches hands with the man. ''One more thing, is this a top secret delivery..?'' She asked with a low-serious voice. And why wouldn't she? Diavolo knows there's something fishy happening here, just as the other two must have reckon'd, but this could be a chance to ''know'' and ''learn'' the tools of the trade, so she would basically accept regardless of the man's answer.

[Athelstan]

Sujio can only roll his eyes discretely and smiles to Mr. Pine This wouldn't feel like a strange delivery otherwise yet the best scheme are the ones laid in the open, as less people would suspect it that way.

[dmarks]

"Discretion would be appreciated and reciprocated. My assistant is just bring the package, ah, here we are. Please take good care of it, and deliver it swiftly to leader Pryce. Once you've done so you may contact any of our agents. We have sites in a number of places."

Mr Pine handed over a business card that listed his name (just Mr Pine, no first name), his telephone number and that he worked for PokeCorp, a well known corporation with holdings throughout the world.

Another suited man arrived and handed over a cylindrical black object, about a foot long and a hands width in diameter. It had no markings and was fairly weighty, but wouldn't burden whoever carried it overmuch.

[Lockon]

"... I've got nothing better to do, how about you guys?" He'll take the object, if no one tries to stop him.

[Yael]

''As I was telling you before, I want to start a journey.'' She looks towards Joseph, who was closer and could have picked the container first. ''And this seems like a good excuse.''

Diavolo turns to Sujio. ''Want to tag along?'' She calmly adds. ''If you're starting a journey for whatever your reason is, the more the easier, I think.''

[Athelstan]

"It is already a journey for me, this just makes it more interesting, so do not mind if I join you on this trip" smiling to Tiffania in a charming way, and looking at Joseph take the cylinder and wondering if there is any way to open it, but they are probably not skilled enough for that, and it's a good pay.

Quest accepted, Sujio joins the party!

[Yael]

After the man left, Tiffania led the group to the closest Pokémon Center for replenishing King Crimson, and the others.

''Here's the plan.'' Tiffania starts saying as long as they encounter a Town Map. ''We're heading north by Route 35, we shoud reach routes 36 and 37 within two or three days.'' She points with her index finger to the small red dot marked as Ecruteak City. ''When reaching this city, Ecruteak, we're taking a short rest to resupply, and we're leaving the day after. We need to speed it up because Mt. Mortar gets in the way pretty quickly, by Route 42, and either we hike it up or pass through. We'll take on that once we get there.'' She takes a sip from her tea. ''I've already traveled through Johto, but I haven't visited the north part of the region, so it is basically unknown to me what can we find or face. Mahogany Town isn't that far as 7 days, I think, but we must be prepared for anything.''

''I am not a big fan of the Pokémon League, but you can choose to take on that while we travel. You can even use the day off as Ecruteak to do that, if you want to.''

Unless something else happens before reaching the PC, I'm healing King Crimson back to full HP.

[Lockon]

"I don't trust this guy enough to just do the job without knowing what we're delivering first. I mean, an unmarked parcel to be handed off to a gym leader? Am I the only one finding this a little fishy?"

Caesar starts chewing on Sujio's leg.

[Yael]

''It IS suspicious, and basically it is the best way to smuggle illegal goods - using Pokemon Trainers - to not be caught by the police.'' She takes off her sweater, revealing a sports-friendly black colored shirt. With a very weird, custom-designed logo of an ekans eating its own tail, inside of a red and white semi-circle with no arms. ''But that's just a guess, unless we got any kind of proof. For now, let's just do this task and hope to get a name around, maybe getting better and better offers with higher rewards.''

''I'm going to sleep early, today.'' She places her sweater in her backpack. ''We're leaving tomorrow, if you need to go and buy anything using the half of the pay Mr. Pine gave us, fine for me. See you tomorrow.'' And so, Diavolo leaves off to her private room.

''King Crimson.'' ''Krow.'' ''Tonight you're free to sleep outside of your Pokeball. Just don't leave the room.'' The murkrow remailed silent, before Tifannia would ready herself to sleep, placing her combat knife below her pillow, as a safety method, and would go to sleep.

I'm going to skip ahead here to give you a chance to start your journey, but feel free to roleplay the rest of your conversation

The three rest their pokemon and make various preparations for their journey the next day.

The dawn breaks crisp and clear, with the promise of fair weather: perfect for the start of their journey.

[Yael]

As always, Diavolo wakes up at 5 am, and goes off to train herself and her murkrow partner. In the roof of the Pokemon Center, to have enough space for King Crimson to fly around and evade properly. ''Too slow, King Crimson! Be faster! Hit harder! Take this!'' They train for an hour, beating each other.

''Very well, KC. Keep it up this way and you'll become even stronger...'' *pant* And thus Tiffania went to wash off the sweat and to threat her scars from the excercise.I'm applying Brutal Training to KC, also 1 injury to make it Hardened via Taskmaster.

King Crimson gains 7 experience points, leveleling from 5 to 6.

HP 12 > 13 (51 > 55)

Diavolo readies herself, goes to the market and buys a potion, an antidote and two pokeballs, using her third of the money.

''I'll wait for you at the northern exit of the city.'' She says and leaves before.

[Lockon]

Joseph spends a good hour or two trying to open the cylinder, including trying to use Caesar's jaws to grip and twist it. If he fails, he goes to sleep, before waking at about 7 for more dodge training with Caesar.Caesar is still Inspired and gains 2 more EXP.

Jospeh looks over his cash... before puffing. "Camping supplies... when I find that wise guy... *sigh* might as well go find Tiff."

Did you want to purchase camping supplies?

Joseph notes that the cylinder is broken into three parts that could each rotate individually, but it refused to yield to conventional means, lacking any obvious opening or hinge. Caesar's jaws do cause some damage to the cylinder and the one end stopped rotating smoothly. Further force could possibly open it, but may risk damaging whatever is inside.

Joseph: "It's a bomb! Better get my pokemon to try eating it" *snark* :smallwink:

[Lockon]

Nope, just spent almost all my starting cash on it. And I find applying Totodile Deathgrip to be a perfectly acceptable solution to just about any problem, kind of like Duct Tape.

Looking at the cylinder... "Hopefully no one will notice..."

[Athelstan]

Sujio looks for a place to spend the night as there is not much but to rest, let Monev out to stretch wondering what can be inside the item and hoping the travel is smooth. "You think they will be good partners for the trip? We are new here so the very list we can do is make use of them" Monev yellow eyes seem to pierce trough him as usual "I do sometimes wonder if you can read my mind Monev"

I will just rest so we can start the journey and meet Tiff in the outskirts of town as planned

[Yael]

Tiffania steps at the edge of the city. On her way here she stopped at a small shop to buy some food for the travel, and some candy bars too. For her solid personality, she loves candy.

''Almost 8 am. We're leaving soon.'' She mumbles to herself. ''I'll be back, city of sins. I will return and rule your underworld... At its time.''

Even if the task as hand is advantageous to her goal, she understands that the cylinder may be dangerous, and as such, the client might hire someone to get sure they don't peek at its contents. So Tiffania releases King Crimson on the air. ''King Crimson!'' Krooow! Tiffania's relationship towards her partner is long and deep, so KC knows or is used to at least, that when Diavolo calls him during the day or outside an encounter that is not training, it is about scouting or another important job. She raises her right arm so he can land on it. ''We're embarking outside of the city, be sure to keep an eye from up there, and tell me if anything's following us, and if anything is hiding from, or around, us.''
King Crimson will follow our party from above unless I state otherwise. He will remain exactly at 10 meters high, and will circle around in a 5-meter radius circle, spotting the area. His Perception modifier is 3d6+1, which I won't roll at this time because we haven't left town.

Murkrow is instructed to tell Diavolo the presence of Pokémon and other Humans, so I guess he'll contest any Stealth check within his sight and cry to alert Tiffania.

Within forested areas, KC will remain above the trees, if the party is visible from there, but will never fly above them if his vision of Tiffania is obstructed, as he is taking care of her, too.

He has not enough Power (1) so he could get tired easily, when that happens, he will land and pose on Tiffania's shoulders to rest.

The trio start out determinedly heading north on route 35 as Tiffania had suggested. The path was wide at first, but as they travelled away from Goldenrod, they noticed that the barriers around the road, clearly intended to keep wild pokemon away, had fallen into disrepair. Fallen, or been broken deliberately...

At around noon, King Crimson gave a cry and soared down to Tiffania's shoulder: there was something up ahead. From the groups current position, they could not see what King Crimson had spotted, as the path curved slightly to the right and their vision was blocked by the surrounding trees.

[Yael]

''Halt.'' Tiffania says quietly, but with enough power to be heard by both his companions. "King Crimson spotted something." Tiffania tries to get a better sight of what's ahead, not drawing her weapon, of course.Rolling a Perception check myself, after I try to lean myself to get a clear view of what's ahead. [roll0]

[Lockon]

Joseph follows suit, eyeing the forest for anything of note.[roll0] Bird's eye, man.

Tiffania edges round the corner slowly and notes a crowd of men, around 5 or 6, gathered on the road up ahead. They seem to have heavy mechanical bikes with them and are chatting loudly. Joseph sees nothing threatening in the trees, but notices that as their route has fallen into disrepair, there is a path through the broken barriers and into the forest.

[Yael]

"I see suspicious people up ahead." Diavolo says in a low voice towards her companions. "The best course of action is to avoid them, probably by the forest."

[Lockon]

"There's a path through the busted barriers... you sure they didn't do that?" Joseph responds as quietly as he can.

[Yael]

"Kh, not sure they did." Diavolo says as she walks through the barrier. "But I don't want to meet strangers through the road while we carry the item." She sends KC to the front. "Let us resume through the woods, just to be sure."

[dmarks]

The group tracks off into the forest, with King Crimson flying just above their heads, but not above the thick canopy. The path is not too clear, but the trees aren't numerous enough to block their way, so the trio quickly finds themselves drawing alongside the group on the road. They can here chatter, and the acrid scent of fumes drifts through the trees, but they aren't spotted.

Just as the group thinks they have gotten past the bikers, Sujio gestures for everyone to halt and points up into the surrounding trees. In the faint darkness, the others can't make anything out, but then the gloom resolves itself into a number of cocoon-like shapes. Sujio whispers: "Be very quiet..."

Stealth and perception checks please, along with a course of action: the bikers are about 15 metres to your right through the trees, the cocoons are all around you.

[Yael]

Diavolo carefully returns her foot to the last place it was before Sujio spoke, preventing noise as much as she could. Also with her left hand she gave KC the order to keep quiet.

Both Joseph and Tiffania recognise them as bug types, with Joseph recalling that they are Kakuna, chrysalis-type bug pokemon with high defense. Tiffania counts eight of the creatures hanging from the trees, but a faint buzzing sound reaches them from further to the south.

With a crack the tension is broken as Joseph steps on a stray twig. The Kakuna rouse and glare down on the interlopers. Despite the sound, the bikers remain unaware of their presence.

Joseph, not even attempting to be stealthy, is going to run back towards the road as swiftly as he can. Which is not really that swift, because he is a lazy dork.
