Corpses count as objects. Haunting Presences in "poltergeist" mode can animate objects. Haunt shift can force a corporeal undead into being a haunting presence.

Could you force your skeleton or zombie into a haunting presence possessing an inanimate corpse, causing it to animate it, and then forcing it back into another corpse if the first is destroyed?

I think there's a clause in haunting presences that makes destroying the object potentially (or absolutely) dispel them, but I'm AFB at the moment (it's in Libris Mortis). If so, can anybody think of a way to preserve the presence beyond the object's destruction, to make this trick work?



If people want to also discuss other cool things to use haunting presences for (the obvious, to me, being "necromancer's animate objects"), feel free. But I just thought of this particular application and wanted to share and invite suggestions for improvement.
