Just got curious... what wisdom-based classes are there?
Druid is the only one that comes to mind right off.

Many thanks!

Are there classes that is it for something other than spellcasting?

Yeah, but I don't have a list of those. You could check out X Stat to Y Bonus (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?125732-3-x-X-stat-to-Y-bonus) though.

Good call on that link.

I randomly got the urge to play with optimizing a wisdom based soulblade/soulbow using gestalt rules. So, y'know, wisdom to mindbolt, what other ways can a high wisdom be capitalized on?

A dip in monk is almost always useful for wisdom-based gestalt characters IMO. There's a ton of ACF's for monks too, so you're almost guaranteed to get some useful class features.

Alternatively, two levels in swordsage net you wisdom to AC as long as you are wearing light or no armor and aren't using a shield. Two more levels in swordsage allow you to add wisdom to the damage rolls of all your maneuvers from a specific discipline.

Only being able to pick maneuvers that remain useful at range make things a bit more difficult, but just select

Swordsage is pretty hot on a high Wis...

Would definitely recommend a Swordsage 2 dip for some defensive maneuvers and the AC bonus. One side of your gestalt should definitely be Cleric and Cleric PrCs, since you can have the other side take Soulknife/bow and swordsage, maybe with a cleric level or two to cover any holes in a PrC's spellcasting progression or a dip into Dread Necromancer for another turn/rebuke pool.

You're missing a very unique class - the Unseelie Dark Hunter (http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/fey/20030315a) casts from Wisdom also, but he casts arcane spells.

Humorously, by RAW the swordsage doesn't get his AC bonus if he's not wearing armor.

I support what other have said about the class though. It's great on its own and it's a fantastic dip for nearly any build.

Shiba Protector [Oriental Adventures] is an amazing dip for any Wis-based characters. Comparatively completely ridiculous, in fact.

At least, any WIS-based character that doesn't have "thou shalt not lose caster levels" tattooed on their knuckles (and then down their forearms, because they ran out of knuckles).

Note that the OP is doing gestalt, which means that they can easily drop a level on the non-casting side for Shiba Protector.

Sounds like Shiba Protector and Swordsage are the dips to take. I'll be looking into it right away.

You're right, although I'm not sure it counts, since the Dark Hunter class from Complete Warrior is more recent and does not cast spells.

Real casters don't have knuckles! Awakened Hairy Spider lovers, with me!

The Dragonlance Mystic is also Wis-based and casts from the Cleric list. Notably, the book it appears in is 1st-party (published by WotC.)

In all honesty, the concept I'm toying with wouldn't be a caster. Casters aren't really my thing, heh.
I'm thinking soulknife to soulbow on one track and swordsage to fighter to shiba protector back to fighter on the second track.

I know spells get "updated" when there's one with the same name, but classes?

Only if it's the exact same class, e.g. MoF Incantatrix to PGTF Incantatrix.

(And honestly, sometimes not even then - see OA Samurai and CW Samurai.)

There's that update list but of course it doesn't amount to much. E.g. it counts Exotic Weapon Master as the update for Weapon Master and Master of the Chain...
