Hey guys, I'm here in Montreal with my brother for a few days and was wondering what you think are the must see sights.

We're headed to the Royal Mountain itself today and will probably be doing the Chateau Ramsey and old town tomorrow.

You should go walk around the Quartier Latin in the early evening, you'll always end up seeing something interesting (you guys are adults right?). If you're going to Mont-Royal you should swing by the Dieu du Ciel pub, IMO the best microbrewery in town/the province, but don't go too late because it's always crowded. For more touristy things Parc Jean Drapeau is very nice and has some interesting things to see, also the Olympic complex, which has the biodome, a planetarium, etc... The insectarium is also pretty cool if you're into bugs. My sister loves art and she likes the Musee des Beaux-Arts and the Musee d'art contemporain so if that's your thing.... there are a few good historic museums, the Musee des Patriotes is good for the history of canada in the mid 19th century, and the Musee Pointe-à-Calière if you're interested in Montreal history specifically.

There's a casino if you want to gamble a bit and listen to live music a few times a week, and no end of good restaurants and neat places to have a drink, if you tell me what kind of food you'd like to try I may be able to help you out.

Oh and if you're still in town sunday there's an electronica mini-festival in parc Jean-Drapeau http://piknicelectronik.com/evenements/#2016-08-21

Without knowing more about the asker's tastes, the only general/unavoidable recommendation I can make is obviously to check out the "old town" (Vieux-Mtl) while you're there.

(And if you happen to like it, then know Quebec City's old town is a lot better :P)

I went over the winter holidays last year, it was a lot of fun. If you can, go to Au Pied du Cochon - a fantastic restaurant. Definitely grab a Montreal-style bagel at St Viateur, a deli sandwich at Schwartz's, and a poutine at La Banquise.

Those are all really good suggestions

Thanks a lot for the advice, I managed to do about half of what you suggested. There's a lot to do here! I look forward to visiting again eventually.
