Almost a year ago, I was saddened by the end of the Stick Awards (second version) and, bored, started an awards ceremony for all the strips who received no votes in those awards.

(un?)Fortunately for me, these became pretty popular, and so now I am going to make a tournament for these really good, bad strips.

Here's the format: We will have 4 semi-finals, each with 8 strips. (The last will have 7 because, reasons). At the end of the 4 semi finals, the 4 weekly winners, along with the 2 wild card strips that received the most votes among the non-winning strips will go into a final round.

Last week's winner was http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i294/trytoguess/O-Chul.png :vaarsuvius: 658 A Bird in Hand (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0658.html) with 10 votes.

#18 leads the Wildcard race with 6 votes, and #224, #333 and #489 are tied for 2nd with 4 votes each.

Voting will end Thursday, August 25 at 10AM MT

After the finals, we will have an "Ultra-Brick Awards" for all the strips that received no votes during the Brick Awards.

And here they are!!!

So many great strips in this round, including a few I consider "classics". I'm fairly certain I voted for most of these during the Brick awards. Tough choice.

For whatever reason, I feel compelled to vote for #857. Possibly due to Blackwing's dream about the pie, possibly due to Blackwing/V banter in general or possibly due the Quickened Expeditious Retreat.

857 is nice, but my fave here is 939 .

886 for:
-:xykon: "Where's the witty hero-villain repartee?"
-Vaarsuvius coming in all casual and neutralizing Redcloak.
-:redcloak: "Sir, you used that line already."
-The subtle lighting of tones to show the illusion taking over; I didn't even notice it until the last panel. Simply beautiful.

I've always found #857 to be one of the most underappreciated pages in the entire comic. V getting the knife twisted, by complete accident no less, is probably one of the most poignant scenes in the comic from where I'm standing.

Blackwing certainly doesn't hurt, either.

I know it's right before one of the all-time best strips in the series (877 is definitely one of my favorites), but I am picking 876 here.

886. It's got one of the most effective last panel reveals in recent memory.

I'm going for 886, partly because of how hyped up I was when I first read it and didn't see it coming straight away, and also because even though it's an illusion, It's an awesome piece of action and comedy.

Even in this illustrious company (seriously, these are some high-voltage Bricks), I don't think I have a choice about whether to vote for Fake Xykon's Defeat. How can you not?

"I KILLED... ...Xykon... ...Hooray..." 886 has a lot going on, even if it was all an illusion. It gets my vote.

As much as I loved all of these strips, for a variety of reasons... ('Oh yeah, wizard'... being a prime example!) I have to join my vote with many others and say 886! .... Hooray...

997 was such a great reveal, but I always felt the Roy/Wrecan dialogue leading up to it was a bit contrived (I do enjoy the way the reveal makes you look back at Lady of Odin's previous speech balloon and say, "oh s---, 'binding referendum'???")

I think 886 is a work of genius because of the way the whole fight and banter are actually sort of half-assed (very two-dimensional in a small boring room with people hardly even leaving the floor, and like Elan says later Roy's one-liner was not very snappy), and in retrospect exactly how Roy would want it to go. All while the colors slowly turn pink. You look at that comic and you know that the actual final battle is going to be so much more awesome than that.

The "... Hooray..." at the end implies that your vote itself may have been an illusion.

Since 886 is likely to take it anyway, I vote for 857 in hopes of it grabbing a wild card spot.

I was nearly wishing I'd done that myself. I must say I'm thoroughly surprized by 886's popularity. It's nice enough, but not domineering.

I'm afraid we'll have some trouble with the second wild card. As far as I know, there are 4 strips now gathering 4 votes each and tied for that. Unless we put them all in the finals, alongside the 4 winners and wild card #1.

Just hold a short round with the four potential wild cards? Should be easy enough.

Sorry for the delay, guys and gals (and anyone in between)

Actually, there are 5 strips with 4 votes each. However, I just so happened to be planning on voting for 997 anyway, and it just so happens to be one of the 2nd place wildcards, so no need for a runoff! Hooray me!

:roy: 886 Victory Comes From Within (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0886.html) is our winner this week.

#18 and #997 will be our Wildcards!

VOTING IS NOW CLOSED!
