I have a player that wants to play a rogue with dual wield pistols and such. I was wondering how I could help him build this, he's relatively new to table top games in general so I don't want it to be particularly complex, though I have years of experience so I can probably help him build it.

Probably the best way to do this is trench fighter 3/5 from Rasputin Must Die! And then slayer or rogue 17/15. I advise slayer, as ranged sneak attack is hard to proc, and slayer has decent bonus damage without sneak attack, and gets pre-req free feats. Trench fighter 5 gets you dex2damage and weapon training/Adanced weapon training.

If you're using Pathfinder, you could simply use the Gunslinger class and mix in some Rogue if need be.

You and your player may want to have a look at the Black Powder Hood (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/hybrid-classes/slayer/archetypes/flaming-crab-games---slayer-archetypes/black-powder-hood) Slayer archetype from Flaming Crab Games, which provides Grit and a deeds. They don't have a way to get Dex to damage, but Bullet Rend is more reliable than Sneak Attack with ranged weapons, Studied Target is a solid boost to hit/damage, and with their BAB and Studied Target they can easily afford to use Deadly Aim pretty much all the time. The archetype also allows free-action firearm holstering from 3rd level, making for easy pistol-TWF.

All really good ideas, I particularly like the black powder hood, my player was looking at the ninja and thought that a gunslinger ninja build could work, what do y'all think?

A dip into Gunslinger with the Mysterious Stranger (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/gunslinger/archetypes/paizo---gunslinger-archetypes/mysterious-stranger) archetype could be an interesting addition to a Ninja build, yeah. Not sure if there's much direct synergy between the classes, but a gunslinging ninja would be pretty cool.

my player has decided to go Pistolero 6/Ninja 14 he will be dual wielding homebrewed Short Sword Pistols, that will level with him, quite cool actually. I think he will soon become the type of optimizer every DM love/loathes to see their player become lol
