The cleric, druid, paladin, and wizard spell preparation sections all say that "You can change your list of prepared spells when you finish a long rest." However, they also say that preparing a spell requires one minute of meditation/study per spell level for each spell.
Older editions gave the ability to reserve spell prep for later in the day, but the Vancian system was also much stricter, so this was rather less powerful than it is now. What I'm wondering is, has anyone experimented with midday spell changing in 5th Edition enough to know whether it has a significant effect?
