The mystic is basically a class that starts with the flavor of monks, and runs in a totally different direction with it. Instead of action-movie stunts and martial arts, you've got fasting, spirit quests and self flaggelation.

Speaking generally, I don't think the ascetic/hermit/wise(wo)man archetype gets much more than a nod from base 5e mechanics wise, so this is my attempt to rectify that. Themes of asceticism and altered states of consciousness get represented mechanically through levels of exhaustion that enable visitations from spirits, directly interacting with people's souls, and shaman-style spellcasting.

All feedback welcome.

This is an really cool idea, you do know the Exhaustion gives some penalties right?...

Yep. It seems thematically appropriate that someone who frequently starves themselves will be in a bad way during physical combat, and the class (penitents especially) gets some fairly strong defensive abilities to offset e.g. the level 3-4 exhaustion penalties.

Also, since Strength of Spirit requires a save instead of an attack roll, it's appropriately not affected by exhaustion at all.

Moderate revision (v0.2) -

Meditation -> Removed, replaced with Saintly Bearing (rewards acts of charity by making people feel guilty about doubting/harming you)
Spiritual Visitation -> Renamed to Vision Quest

I want to add in another mechanic at level 2 that allows them to shake one level of exhaustion whenever they rest, but I haven't come up with a good mechanical reward yet - suggestions are welcome.
