So. My character has made friends with a cerebric fungus. A little baby cerebric fungus. Its name is Mawdrey (shamelessly stolen from GW2). Long story short, I am installing it into my body. Below are the changes. This was made using the Amalgam Creature template from Green Ronin's Advanced Bestiary as a guide.

A cerebric fungus symbiote has two "modes," full symbiosis and partial symbiosis. A symbiote always inflicts 2 constitution drain on the host, which cannot be healed while the symbiote is attached. When in full symbiosis, this drain increases to 4, which can be lessened by 2 after the symbiote reverts to partial, and a night's rest. A symbiote cannot be willingly removed from the host unless cure disease is cast on the host, and the host allows the symbiote to be affected, at which point it may make a fortitude save to negate. If this kills the symbiote, the host's constitution is halved, which is healed at 1 point per week. This cannot be sped up by any magic weaker than regeneration.

Implanting the symbiote inflicts 6 points of constitution damage, which stacks with the penalty above. This returns at a normal rate, and can be sped up with magic.

Switching between full and partial symbiosis is a full round action which provokes attacks of opportunity. The host is staggered for 3 rounds thereafter with no save.

The host must also eat twice as much as normal, or, if the creature need not normally eat, as much as a normal creature of its size.

Body Form: A symbiote is retains its host's basic shape.

Limbs: A symbiote retains its base limbs, and when fully symbiotic, gains two prehensile tendrils. These tendrils do not grant additional magic item slots.

Appearance: If the host is not fully utilising the symbiote, they retain much of their appearance, but something still seems off about them, inflicting a -2 penalty on all charisma based checks (except intimidate, which gains a +1 bonus) against most sentient creatures. With full symbiosis, the host's skin becomes a dark blue. All orifices gain a cyan glow, as do their veins to a lesser degree, and as previously mentioned, the host gains two tendrils. A full symbiote takes a -6 penalty to all charisma based checks (except intimidate, which gains a +4 bonus) against most sentient creatures.

Type: The creature's type becomes plant. The host, if it normally needs to sleep, continues to need to sleep. The host is still vulnerable to mind-affecting effects. The symbiote is not (but see dual mind below.)

Senses: During partial symbiosis, the host gains low-light vision. If the host already possesses low light vision, it's distance increases by one (i.e Low Light x2 becomes x3, Low Light x3 becomes x4)

In full symbiosis, the host gains Darkvision 60. If the host already possesses Darkvision, it gains an additional 30 feet to it.

Aura: In partial symbiosis, the host gains the Cerbric Fungus' Unsettling Aura, but only to 15 feet.

In full symbiosis, the host gains the Unsettling Appearance Aura out to full range.

Armor Class: In partial symbiosis, the host gains no bonuses to armor class.

In full symbiosis, the host gains +2 natural armor

Hit Dice: Unchanged from host's. However, the stymbiote itself has virtual hit dice equal to the host's for the purpose of feats, which may only be spent on feats which affect the abilities granted by the symbiote (i.e ability focus or improved natural attack. Weapon focus (tendril or bite) is acceptable, but weapon focus (sword) is not), and ability score imcreases, which must be mental.

Saving Throws: Fortitude and Reflex are unchanged from host's. See Dual Mind below for Will.

Defensive Abilities: In partial symbiosis, the host gains the plant immunities.

In full symbiosis, the host gains Fast Healing 2, up to a maximum of half its maximum hit points, and Cold Resistance 5.

Weaknesses: The host always has Sonic Vulnerability.

Attacks: In partial symbiosis the host does not gain any natural attacks.

In full symbiosis, the host gains two tendril attacks and a bite attack appropriate for a creature of its size. Any feats the symbiote possesses affect these attacks as appropriate. The host also gains the symbiote's tendril's reach and pull special attack.

Ability Scores: The host uses all of its own ability scores. The symbiote uses the host's ability scores and its own mental scores.

Skills: The host's skills remain unchanged, though in full symbiosis, the host gains a +4 bonus to climb checks due to the tendrils. The symbiote gains skill points as appropriate for a plant of the host's hit dice. These skills can only be spent on mental skills, such as knowledge. A Cerebric Fungus treats all knowledge skills as being in class.

Languages: The host gains Telepathy 100.

Spell-Like Abilities: The host gains the symbiote's spell like abilities with the same frequency as the symbiote. Calculate saves using the symbiote's charisma.

Special Abilities: The host benefits from the symbiote's Otherworldly Mind ability at all times, with the save calculated using the symbiote's charisma and its +2 racial bonus. The host is also immune to other Cerbric Fungus' Otherworldly Mind ability.

In full symbiosis, the host may use the symbiote's Star-Shriek once per day. The save is calculated using the host's Constitution. The host is also immune to other Cerebric Fungus' Star-Shrieks at all times.
The host also gains the Cerebric Fungus' Touch of Madness special attack. However, it lasts 1d4 rounds rather than 1 round/caster level. The save is calculated using the symbiote's charisma, and has am effective spell level of 2.

Dual Mind: When the host fails a Will save against a mind-affecting effect, the symbiote may also make a Will save. If it is successful, it takes control of the host. If the host is generally kind to it, it will likely work to further the host's goals and relinquish control when the host is able to take it. If not, treat the symbiote as an intelligent magical item with an ego score of 14 plus its virtual hit dice. If not already in full symbiosis, when the symbiote takes control, it becomes so.
