Can you retrain class levels?

I was wondering if you could retrain class levels and if so what are the rules for it?

I don't think there are any official rules for it. However you can appeal to your DM and try to work something out.

RAW, no. But it's not unheard of for a DM to allow it.

There are rules for in in Adventure League.

AL isn't a very good set up to copy too much but the retraining rules are there. Even for retraining level 1.

Ah, I remember that now. Until level 5 they let you change your character, if I remember right. Don't do AL so that didn't stick.

RAW no, but I generally allow one or two if it's legit.

As in 'Not a mechanism to paper over a MC build that doesnt come online till late'
