View Full Version : Weird crossover ideas

I imagine many people have their own bizarre crossover ideas. I don't mean things like Mpreg or gender bending characters for the sake of your own crossover plot. Generally I'm for keeping everything as close to canon as possible in each universe up until the crossover and it's consequences and implications. The weirdness, in my opinion, should come from the crossover combinations themselves. So with no further ado, are my weird crossover ideas.

#1 Series used: Final Fantasy VII/The Venture Brothers/Metalocolypse
The basic premise behind this crossover is four characters from these series are actually blood relatives. Those four being Hank and Dean Venture, Cloud Strife and Charles Foster Offdensen, their eventual meeting with each other and what that may entail for their worlds, those they care for and enemies.

Now we know a great deal about Rusty Venture's side of the family, from Col. Lloyd Venture to Thaddeus/Rusty and his sons, but next to nothing about their mother's side. Yes we now know that Myra Brandish isn't the boys' real mother, just Rusty Venture's mentally unstable ex-bodyguard that he tricked into thinking she was their mother. So while we may not know how Hank and Dean's mother is, we know how she isn't Myra, that's something.

Heading on to Cloud Strife, we know that his father went missing wen Cloud was a young boy, maybe 5 or 6 and that Sephiroth murdered his mother during his rampage/one-man massacre at Nibelheim. But not much else about his family. True, we don't get much detail about the families of any Final Fantasy character, but Cloud's family sticks out to me as a really noticeable and intriguing question mark. Looking at this picture of Cloud's mother (http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/finalfantasy/images/9/91/CloudsMother-ccvii.png/revision/latest?cb=20120701123806), she looks quite youthful for the mother of a 17 year old, somewhere between 36 and 40, maybe? Okay then, right now I'm going to break or at least bend one of my own crossover rules and slightly alter a main character's back story.

In many cultures when a husband dies it's either expected or favored for her to marry her late husband's eldest living, some times unmarried, brother. In this crossover, Cloud's mother is actually is his step-mother and aunt, making it a gender inverted Levirate marriage, as well as one of three sisters. In this version of events Cloud's birth mother, and her twin sister Myra, were amateur explorers and adventurers ever since their early teens. One day, on what would be June 4th, 1987 on Earth, reports of a mysterious light in the off-skirts of Nibelheim reached Myra and Nadia. These two intrepid young women went to investigate the mysterious glowing caverns, only to be transported to another world, one of failed space age dreams, super spies and organized costumed aggression. Cut off from all they knew and loved, the Brandish sisters were forced to make their own way in this strange yet somewhat familiar world. Cue theme music (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3B8Nrw19qEM).

About 50 to 60 years ago Axel Offdensen disappeared, seeming to vanish without a trace. For years his family searched for him, and for years they came up empty handed and broken hearted. To this very day the Offdensens mourn his loss and apparent death, even the seemingly cold and uncaring CFO and manager of Dethklok, Charles Foster Offdesen, can't help but shed a tear for his missing great uncle. Little did they know what world Axel landed on. Even though he barely spoke a word of English when he first arrived, Axel thrived in this new world.

Axel spent his days chopping down trees and slaying man-eating monsters, until one day all his monster slaying took him from "crazy outsider" to "respectable citizen and pillar of the community". He even helped found a mining town that he named Nibelheim. Axel even married and had five children, the second of them being his only daughter, Ingrid Brandish née Offdensen, who took after her father personality much more than brothers.

Yet all of Axel's children still listened to him and learned every thing he taught them. From hunting and tracking, to fighting and wilderness survival as well as his native tongue, Swedish. So Axel's children taught their children, who then taught their children. When Cloud Strife was a little boy, he would listen to his great grandfather Axel's tales of adventure, and his home world, with rapt attention. He loved his great grandpa Axel and wanted to be just like him growing up. In fact that's what first drew him to news stories about SOLDIER first class Sephiroth, only to be sorely disappointed later. Sometimes you really just shouldn't meet your heroes at all. Just as his birth mother and older aunt would learn from meeting Rusty Venture.

Wow it took me six paragraphs to outline the basic conceit of a three-way crossover. Is it that I'm prone to being overly verbose, or am I just being thorough and trying to come out with a coherent backstory? Any comments or crossover ideas of your own are welcome.

I think it'd be kind of amusing to see a Warhammer 40k/My Little Pony crossover with Princess Celeste filling in for the God-Emperor. Her overly cheerful, devoted legions scouring the cosmos of all non-pony life while learning valuable lessons about friendship, magic and heresy. That's as much thought as I've put into it though.

To start off:
One Punch Man/Undertale: The Crossover that No One Asked For. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Od8jJn323Yk)

I also had an idea for a Harry Dresden/Undertale Crossover where Frisk successfully achieves the True Pacifist ending and gets to the surface, but then Harry Dresden investigates the magical disturbance that is happening and comes across the monsters and Frisk before anyone else. Harry coming from Urban fantasy/horror setting, he has little reason to trust the monsters. The monsters, knowing the mechanics of LV and the fact that Harry has demonstrably killed others and grew more detached as a result, probably has a high Level Of Violence that makes the monsters distrust him. Yet they must learn to work together as the urban fantasy world around them will not like Frisk's heroic actions, and will thus seek to get rid of the monsters to make sure humanity doesn't find out about the rest of them...

while we're talking MLP and Harry Dresden, I've read like two different fan-fic that crossed them over, and managed to work together oddly well in both instances but for different plots and relationships with Harry and the Mane Six.

next, why not.....I dunno......Chrono Trigger and Doctor Who? The Doctor tries to solve the whole Lavos problem, while at the same time being baffled at the existence of actual magic, arguing with the Sage at the End Of Time, trying to work out why the mechanics of time travel are different here, and just who is this Crono chap and why is he so important!?

or how about The Culture meets Dragon Ball Z? The space age anarchist--rationalist-hedonistic utopia of bio-engineered humans and super-AI's meet Goku, Vegeta and other martial artists who can somehow blow up planets with their ki attacks and become ridiculously powerful by changing their hair color, as well bringing people back to life by wishing on seven antique glass orbs. Hilarity Ensues as everyone in The Culture goes "what the hell is this I don't even."

or even The Culture Meets Doctor Who. One wonders how the one-man Class V civilization would think of mankind's latest attempt at utopia among the stars.

or just anything that The Culture meets that they have no context or precedent for when they are usually the ones in control, just so much potential.

Robocop meets Inspector Gadget.
In a D&D defying performance, we can plainly see that the guy with stupid brute force is much, much better at his job than the guy who can litteraly pull a deus ex machina out of his ass.

Like when they hinted at Blake Seven being set in the Doctor Who Universe with the Daleks being set up to be the major enemy the Liberator would be fighting against alone, calling for aid from their enemies the Federation?

I always wondered how Thunderbirds, Stingray and Captain Scarlet would work if set in the same universe?

Anytime I want weird ideas I just go the the crossover section on Fanfiction.net and marvel at the things people come up with. Sadly (or fortunately) most of them are badly written things that rarely make it past the first chapter, third if they're lucky, and are abandoned.

I had an idea like that one time that goes like this:
Harry Dresden meets the Doctor.
Harry gets into the TARDIS, and his anti-tech-ness messes with it, sending them through time.
In an attempt to fix it, Harry looks into The Heart of The TARDIS (and all that that entails).
Harry, thusly empowered, creates what will become Demonreach and gets thrown from the TARDIS in the Middle Ages and becomes the original Merlin

#13 Series used: A Song of Ice and Fire or Game of Thrones and various settings
According to the Faith of the Seven, the Seven Gods are really one god with seven facets. But what are the Seven really? The beings that inspired the Seven are a group of cosmic entities and other beings of immense, if not god-like power, who visited Essos in the distant past, yet haven't returned to that world since. This is largely because they all have much more pressing matters to deal with. That is up until right now, they have enough time to make a return trip. The beings who inspired the Seven arrive somewhere in the middle of the War of Five Kings (before the Red Wedding) to the rise of the Sparrows.

In some cases the the cosmic entity in question inspired more than one of the Seven. Here are the entities that the Seven were inspired by. They'll have some interesting things to say to the people of Westeros and Essos, especially to worshipers of the Seven. By the way, I know that the Inu no Taishō (http://inuyasha.wikia.com/wiki/Inu_no_Taish%C5%8D) has been dead for centuries, but he does have two sons to answer the call for him. Gods help Westeros.

That Harry/Who fic would probably work remarkably well.

One I've had for a while and even attempted to write once (I suck at writing):

The Dresen Files/Planescape Torment

Spoilers for Dresden, you've been warned.

After dying in Changes, Harry wakes up with his memory all jumbled and distorted, in the Mortuary of Sigil. As he tries to puzzle together where he is and what happened and why he seems to be undead and indestructible now, he meets all kinds of weird characters that seem to be twisted versions of people he seems to remember.

Bob, sarcastic and lecherous spirit of Intellect bound to a skull as Morte, sarcastic and lecherous spirit of a dead sage bound to a skull
Susan , Ghost of a Former Lover as Deionarra, Ghost of a Former Lover
Shiro, Old Wise Magic Knight as Dak'kon, Old Wise Magic Knight
Mother Summer and/or Winter as Ravel Riddlewell the night hag
Lash (Lasciel), projected and now non-evil version of a Succubus as Fall-from-Grace, nonevil Succubus

Had a few more ideas, especially for the ending, but no character ideas yet for Annah (probably as herself), Nordom (definitely as himself), Ignus (a very powerful warlock in this version), Vhailor (maybe something weird with Donald Morgan) or Triel (one of the Fallen?)

It would mostly follow TOrment's plot, but with more sarcasm and pop culture references that no one other than Harry will get.

Fanfiction Author Quatermass (https://www.fanfiction.net/u/6716408/Quatermass) does almost nothing but these, though he hardly finishes all of them sadly. He does a lot of Harry Potter crossovers mostly. Like with Portal. or resident Evil. Or various Final Fantasies. or Evangelion. They get kind of wacky sometimes.

I personally would love to see things crossed over with Xenogears or Xenosaga. So much potential for weirdness with those involved.

I have no real idea who the Crone should be, but I think I'll come up with something soon.

If you want things to go completely sideways, how about Granny Weatherwax from the Discworld? Could be rather fun (and she is, after all, the Crone in her own setting, as part of the trinity of the Mother, the Maiden, and the... other one)... although, if you're going to go Fourth World for several of them, couldn't you roll with New Gods all the way?

Highfather for the Father, Avia (Highfather Izaya's wife) for the Mother, Orion for the Warrior, Maiden and Smith as you've got them (Beautiful Dreamer and Himon), still no clue on the Crone (although an amnesiac Granny Goodness would be hilarious, dispensing her 'wisdom' as the others try to keep her from regaining her memories and doing horrific damage on purpose, rather than just accidentally :smallamused:), and the Black Racer for the Stranger.

I just came up with two ideas for the Crone. The first one was either Jenny Bronze, Jenny Iron or Jenny Papyrus, now incarnated as Jenny Quantum. The second being Marvel comics/the MCU's Ancient One, shifted into female form. Sex and gender hold no meaning to the Ancient One. I'll add those two right away. Oh, you mentioned an all New Gods take on the Seven, while that sounds interesting I had similar ideas of my own. To be honest Death was the first Seven pick I made, I briefly considered an all Endless Seven. :amused: I wisely decided against it.

All the New York City Law & Order shows crossed over with a world that all Salvador Dalí and M.C. Escher paintings are snapshots of. The Escher/Dalí-verse is bleeding into **** Wolf's vision of NYC, corrupting the very nature of logic and substance in inconsistent ways that defy prediction and rationality.

or even The Culture Meets Doctor Who. One wonders how the one-man Class V civilization would think of mankind's latest attempt at utopia among the stars.

You might want to check out an official Dr. Who novel titled The Also People. I would have included a link to it at tardis.wikia.com, but apparently you have to have posted awhile to be able to post links here. Huh. Anyway, that entry has some interesting info on the book and the Doc, you should check it out!

As Wikipedia points out: "The Also People introduces a race of beings known as "The People", later used in the Bernice Summerfield Virgin New Adventures. The People are a highly advanced society (for example, they live inside a Dyson Sphere), with abilities rivalling those of the Time Lords; as such, they have been kept in check by the Time Lords to prevent them from learning the nature of time travel. This had led to tense relations between the Time Lords and The People. The People appear to be a combination of biological and artificial beings; they can switch their forms or their minds at will or even as punishment, one day a humanoid person, the next day the intelligence of a spaceship...The society of the People has a very close resemblance to the Culture of Iain M. Banks: the "everything is free" moneyless utopia, the built-in ability of the humanoid citizens to change sex and control their reproduction, the origin of the humanoids as a genofixed merger of several humanoid alien species, the floating intelligent machines known as drones, the intelligent ships and their classifications, the coordination (arguably, quiet rule) of the structure by a single superintelligent computer. The influence has been openly acknowledged by Aaronovitch on the Usenet group rec.arts.sf.written;[1] the book itself contains in the Acknowledgements the line "I'd like to remind everyone that while talent borrows and genius steals, New Adventure writers get it off the back of a lorry, no questions asked."

And, yes, I made an account here just to post this...:smalleek:

#16 Series used: All previously mentioned plus Supernatural
All the universes to be featured in this set of crossovers can be traced back to one being, the ultimate creator of all. He/it, is known through out most if not all worlds, in many different forms and guises, some call him/it God, while to others, like Doctor Orpheus and his associates, he is the Master. With that said he's/its been missing in action for several millennia, presence as the Master not withstanding, and has largely confined himself to a single Earth in one of his universes while in human form. To the public he's known as Robert Carver, author of the Supernatural line of novels, to those who know him well his name is Chuck, Chuck Shurley. He's reconciled with his sister the Darkness/Amara and is getting back into the universe again. This will be interesting.

#17 Series used: FF VII, The Marvel Cinematic Universe (starting out pre-Winter Soldier) and a live-action version of the DCAU with select DC comics and Vertigo elements (Sandman's Endless and Lucifer Morningstar, Hellblazer and villains such as Anton Arcane)
After trying to destroy/conquer Gaia for the umpteenth time in 5 years (starting from 2007 in Final Fantasy VII) Sephiroth finally comes to the conclusion that Jenova is nothing more than a parasitic alien creature that fed off of planets for its own well being. That all the "guidance" Jenova gave him would have allowed Jenova to feast off Gaia Lifestream instead of allowing him to rule over the planet as the "benevolent god" he imagines himself to be. Yet Sephiroth, self righteous **** that he is, still believes he has the divine right to rule the planet of Gaia as a benevolent god. However Sephiroth has learned to shed his Wile E. Coyotesque behavior and has left Gaia, in a quest for guidance and wisdom. He's finding this wisdom on two worlds, actually alternate versions of of the same world.

On one alternate of this world he meets a man known as The Demon's Head, the founder and leader of an ancient order aimed at purifying and healing this blighted and congested world through any means necessary. A truly impressive man, both physically and mentally, Ra's al Ghul is a hale and hearty man for his apparent age. Standing at a height of 6'4" and weighing in at 215 lbs. Ra's is a wiry and spry man of over 600 years of age. His olive-colored skin contrasting with his light green eyes and graying hair. To Sephiroth Ra's is what a leader and ruler should look and act like and true sage and scholar. Not at all the fool, idiots, weaklings and degenerates in Shinra he served as a SOLDIER. Then their was Ra's lovely and brilliant daughter, Talia. Sephiroth spends many a spare moment with the Demon's daughter, talking to one another, quietly walking around Ra's compound with his arm draped over Talia's shoulder or sparring with her in the courtyard, in matches that are as much dance as practice duels. Yet Sephiroth never let's himself go any farther with her, out of respect for Ra's and his desire that Talia should marry the Demon's heir, instead hoping to prove himself worthy of such an honor. Until such a joyous day arrives Sephiroth shall remain Talia al Ghul's knight and she his lady.

On the other world Sephiroth encounters a secret society seeking to its world from the vice and stupidity born of its people's freewill. These men and women are forced to hide their true allegiances from the broader world and work in the shadows of other groups and agencies, most notably S.H.I.E.L.D. This ancient, and in Sephiroth's opinion illustrious, order has lasted for thousands of years, making even older than the League of Shadows. Yet this order, known as Hydra, has only come to light recently, about 60-70 years ago and due to the heavy handedness and recklessness of one Johan Schmidt, also known derisively as the Red Skull. Where others would have scorned him as a fool and mocked him for reckless behavior, Sephiroth can't bring himself to view the Red Skull quite that way. Instead he views Johan Schmidt with pity, sympathy and even understanding and a sense of kinship. In truth, Sephiroth sees much of himself in the late Hydra leader and much of the Red Skull in himself. But he had come here for wisdom, guidance and sense of belonging, and found it with both Hydra and the League of Shadows. If only he could bring the two together, united in one common goal. He means to bring that up in his upcoming meeting with Hydra's current leader, a man he met a held pleasant conversation with before, Secretary of Defense Alexander Pierce.

#19. Series used: FFV and My little pony.

This crossover works surprisingly well. Essentially, when moving to the other world to follow Galuf, Bartz, Faris and Lenna find the world more pony like than previously imagined. Exdeath is replaced with Sombra for being a warlock, and the party of murder hoboes find a peaceful world. With some more crystals. Even better, FFV actually has a race of werewolves, like diamond dogs. Moreover, Bartz is probably the most optimistic protagonist so would actually fit in.

Essentially, the warriors of light would join in on the journey to the Crystal Empire, and then try and prevent the elements from being shattered.
And... that was dredged up after about ten minutes.

This intrigued me so I went and found probably one of the ones you read (The Dresden Fillies), and wow, I am impressed. Not only does the author have a near-perfect grasp of how to write Harry's narration (I have no idea about the ponies) but darker themes such as becoming-the-evil-you-fight from the Dresden Files blend incredibly well with the inherent optimism of the pony world. I would highly recommend to any Dresden Files fans reading this. Bob in ponyland leads to some of the most hilarious dialogue ever...

Yeah, I can't wait until Dresden Fillies is like, Post-Ghost Story....

Where Harry is the Winter Knight, he has one or TWO children depending on whether its post-Skin Game one of them is basically a female spirit-child in a wooden skull, he feels like he is WORKING for evil now, like he is one of the monsters, and he meets the Mane Six and they are still the same people, and he is like "No please go away, I'm not a good person, or a safe person to be around anymore, go, get back to Equestria, forget about me and my problems-"
and they are like "Oh Harry your such a kidder, oh is this Maggie? She is so adorable!"
and he is just like. "......what did I do to deserve this?"

and eventually when they are all concerned as to why he is suddenly acting like this, he just blows up into a rant at them:
"Why am I like this? Oh I don't know, Maybe between the mother of my daughter, as well as said daughter getting kidnapped by vampires, my home getting burned down, me pulling out all the stops to get my daughter back including signing a deal with Mab to be the Winter Knight, my former girlfriend sacrificing herself to kill the entire Red Court in one fell swoop, nearly dying, having a ghost-like adventure, coming back from the dead and having to live on an island full of imprisoned evils constantly whispering to me, serving under Mab the Winter Queen, while these stupid Winter Knight urges I have to resist pull and tug at me, and now fighting a war against more eldritch horrors maybe thats why! while you, your still pure and happy because you live in a paradise world, where your biggest villains are solved in 40 minutes or less and your biggest concerns are your relationship problems! Maybe its the unfairness of THAT huh? Maybe thats why!"
Then he just breaks down crying yelling "Why does the universe hate me!?"

@ digiman: thats not what I meant. All three Dresden Fillies stories is all one fan fic to me. There is a different one thats much shorter where Harry Dresden only goes there once, and the villain is this law of the jungle nature being, and he doesn't have as close a relationship to the Mane Six, and examines how they wouldn't be prepared for Harry's world or what their villains do.

#20 Titans: Villians for Hire Meet Teen Titans Go
Guess what will happen if two of the worst Titans meet eachother. Also Roy will be carrying dead cat around and Deathstroke would look like Slade but with guns and swords.

They are clearly different, as the first one was HiE, the second was poification, and the third was humanized.

#26: Series used: FF VII (base), Fringe, BTVS/Angel, The Wildstorm Universe (Planetary to be exact), Supernatural, The Venture Brothers, Veronica Mars (why the hell not), The Marvel Cinematic Universe (starting out pre-Avengers, but after Thor) and a live-action version of the DCAU with select DC comics and Vertigo elements (Sandman's Endless and Lucifer Morningstar, Hellblazer and villains such as Anton Arcane, also tied in to my previous crossover ideas in this thread.
A small but eclectic group of individuals across multiple universes are contacted in dreams and waking visions. This motley crew of mystics, scientists, spies, hunters, dabblers in the occult, one smarter than average supernaturally empowered Valley girl, a group of four superhuman mystery archeologists, a retired girl detective heading into adulthood, Dr. Venture's walking murder machine and even a depressed angel, all had visions of the same woman. She's pretty and young, about early to mid-twenties, with medium to dark brown reaching to her lower back and bright green eyes. Also really fond of pastel clothing. She introduces herself as Aerith, Aerith Gainsborough. Often times accompanied by a boyishly handsome and noticeably taller young man, with spiky mane-like dark brown hair and piercing blue eyes. He also introduces himself to Aerith's psychically contacted hosts, going by the name of Zack Fair. He even takes the time to talk to them along side Aerith.

The contacted individuals will of course have their own reactions to their visitations, but that's to be expected. The contacted individuals are Doctor Walter Bishop, Buffy Anne Summers, Willow Rosenberg, the Drummer and Planetary's spectral entity detection and communication devices, Castiel, Doctor Byron Orpheus, Brock Samson, Courtney Haines A.K.A. Sergent Hatred/Vatred, Doctor Mrs. the Monarch, Doctor Henry Killinger, Hank and Dean Venture, Veronica Mars, somehow Director Nick Fury and Agent Phil Coulson, Zatanna Zatara, John Constantine and perhaps even a friendly chat with Death herself. Though I expect Miss Mars will be shocked by meeting the ghost of a woman who looks and sounds like a brunette version of her murdered friend Lily Kane.

Last but not least, Aerith has invited each and every last one of them, and their guests, to Gaia. I'll have more later. And yes, Walter will be bringing Eugene this time.

Would you believe you're almost two years late for that one?

On this very forum. Judge Dredd vs. Pinkie Pie. Can she get him to smile? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?386442-Judge-Dredd-vs-Pinkie-Pie)

I still cant get over the story I read awhile back.
Harry Potter/Lilo and Stitch/Hawaii 5-0/Bones/NCIS(both) It was an interesting fic, had a twist on the harry potter verse, lots of crime solving, some good fun and some drama too. It was primarily set in the hawaii 5-0 verse but tossed in harry potter as an adult, who is watching out for lilo and stitch as well.
