Captured by the drow! You wouldn't wish this fate upon anyone, yet here you are - locked in a dark cave, the cold, heavy weight of metal tight around your throat and wrists. You are not alone. Other prisoners are trapped in here with you, in an underground outpost far from the light of the sun.
Your captors include a cruel drow priestess who calls herself Mistress Ilvara of House Mizzrym. Over the past several days, you've met her several times, robed in silken garments and flanked by two male drow, one of whom has a mass of scars along one side of his face and neck.
Mistress Ilvara likes to impress her will with scourge in hand and remind you that your life now belongs to her. "Accept your fat, learn to obey, and you may survive." Her words echo in your memory, even as you plot your escape. Hoping to find a way out before you are ultimately transported to Menzoberranzan, the city of the drow.

You all find yourselves located in the slave pen as what seems like a new day that has begun. The room is small, barely enough room for each creature here to have their own "space" if you can call it that. There is but one lantern on the cave walls of your prison with a fluorescent fungi used for illumination. Outside of the heavy iron gate that is bolted into the stone on the other side of the room it looks like there may be another lantern above the door. Other than the lantern the room seems to be fairly bare with just some light cloth on the floor to be used as a bed and some clay pots in the room used as a bathroom. Each day you have been fed a thin mushroom broth served in small clay bowls that were passed through gaps in the bars of the gate. This is usually done at the end of the day after the menial slave tasks are done, and some days one or two slaves wouldn't be fed any food if they didn't do a good enough job.

Today seems like it will be another day of menial tasks that the drow force you to do for their amusement. To some who have been here longer it has become increasingly clear that these tasks are not really all that important to the upkeep of the Outpost. It seems like just another way for the drows to make you feel lesser than them. Before either of you can give this any further thought you are startled by the brutish orc "Ront" kicking the myconid sprout "Stool" over. "Don't speak in my head gray bucket!" He speaks harshly at the small thing. Before walking over to the little Myconid and giving it another kick. The party sees spores fly out of the creature with the second kick and within 15 seconds they fill the room falling on everyone around allowing everyone to hear him him cry out for help in their mind. "Oh dear not again" the hulking quaggoth expresses in Elvish before turning looking away somewhat distressed. Jimjar the deep gnome just looks around the room with a slight smile on his face and just asks in common "Who wants to take bets he actually does the little on in this time" chuckling a little as he says it.

Ront has an annoyed look on his face, especially after hearing Stool speak telepathically, he looks as if he is going to stomp down on stool again but this time with more force.

Glim (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=896363)

Glim was absolutely miserable. He had been captured several times in the past few weeks, after being abandoned by the mercenaries he'd hired. Everyone back home had said this venture was foolish, but he knew there was a lot of hidden knowledge in the Underdark, and Glim had wanted to be the one to uncover that. He'd read about the Underdark, and even learned local version of Common. He knew the trip would be dangerous, but that's what the mercenaries had been for. Glim had been angry for their betrayal, but has started think they might have been smarter than he'd given them credit for.

Right now he was sitting in a corner of the prison cell, curled into a ball. Besides the drow, Glim was also afraid of some of his cellmates, especially the orc, Ront. He'd met any of his ilk lately. To make matters worse, it seemed he couldn't even use his magic here. Not that he thought it would be much help. Glim hadn't displayed any magical ability to his captors, as he had tried his best to seem non-threatening.

The scholarly part of him was interested in some of his cellmates. He'd read of an abjuration that could help the quaggoth, if he was speaking the truth. The myconid's telepathy was very interesting as well. "<Gnomish> Hmm... Myconid itself hasn't spoken, yet it can translate the languages. These spores seem very interesting... It is as theories suggest, most forms of telepathy indeed transcend spoken language" Glim mumbles to himself. His hand reaches around to grab a quill, before he remembers where he is.

Sighing, Glim sits up. He'd tried to scavenge something he could perhaps use as spell material or even a rudimentary weapon. There were sharp rocks around, but Glim realized trying defend himself with such crude weapons would be next to useless. He sighed again. He missed his home, his comfortable study, his friends and his pet bunny, Mr. Fluffybop.

"<Common> That... That's awful", Glim says quietly to Jimjar. "<Common> We can't just let that oaf crush that poor little creature". Glim gets an idea. He hadn't found a weapon, and couldn't use his magical abilities, but he'd found something; a gemstone, that admittedly was worth much, but maybe...

"<Common> Uh, Mr. Ront, I do not believe our little fungal friend meant to offend you by displaying his telepathic abilities. I believe it was merely trying to open a line of communication, as it is the myconid way of speaking. I..." Glim stutters and quickly searches his tattered robes. "<Common> Here, sir, perhaps you'd like to have this... I believe it might be worth something". He holds out the flawed gemstone to Ront, hoping the beast would be more greedy than aggressive. Maybe it was stupid enough to think the stone was valuable.

Reginald Collingsworth III

When Reginald awoke this morning his eyes had finally fully adjusted to the dim lighting conditions offered by the fungal bloom in the lantern. He couldn't see anywhere near as good as those native to the underdark but with the lighting provided he could easily make out the rowdy bunch of strangers he had been penned up with. What a mess.

To boot his clothing was nearly ruined. He had spares in his pack but that was long gone. Along with his weapons, his wine...such a bother. His chains clanked a bit as he sat up and pulled up his knees to rest his wrists on. Of course that was about when he saw the orc go to town on the little mushroom once again. The myconid seemed harmless enough but Ront just couldn't handle it. Perhaps the orc was simply too stupid to understand whatever the fungus was driving at.

When he set about his daily anger towards the little guy Reginald grimaced but stayed out of it. Ront usually was mean, thunderously bellowing and stomping and then he would be done venting. Maybe kick the poor thing but nothing major. Today was different. Reginald clasped at his chains for a moment when Ront went back at the little mushroom and was very possibly considering giving Ront a smash to the side of the head when he heard the voice from the corner.

Turning his head he watched as that seemingly timid member of the cage dwellers produced a gem of some sort. He eyed it and then looked up at Ront. Reginald didn't exactly think that a gem would quell the anger of the captured orc but it was worth a try. He filed that away...this one was at least of a gentler sort. Getting out of here would require help, of that he was certain. The gnome seemed if not a likely ally a better candidate than some.

He sat back and said nothing, waiting to see how this plays out, and surely still ready to jump in to the mushrooms defense should Ront attempt to further harm it.

Barakas (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=928748)

Waking in the Underdark Barakas had ached from the tips of his horns to the point of his tail. It was worse than the worst hangover he had ever suffered through, and as an artist he knew his ground with hangovers. Yet even more dreadful things were to follow when he realised where he was. A prisoner of the drow! True the drow women were fabled for their beauty and doubtless they told strange and marvellous tales here in the dark and secret lands beneath the soil but gods, he was not born to live the path of a slave. He was a musical prodigy for Tymora's sake!

A prodigy in stained clothes and without his instruments true, but still.

Though unfamiliar with his new companions - he had been the last to arrive - Barakas watched with horror as the thuggish orc kicked the walking toadstool around. Standards of civility besides (and his heart went out to the mushroom - a tiefling, even a handsome and witty genius gets kicks enough in his life) didn't anyone realise this 'Ront' would go after the next weakest in time? Which could of course be Barakas...

"Gentlemen please, remember the real enemy is outside," he say, trying to put his most reasonable tone into his speech, even as he glances at Jimjar in distaste. "We need our wits about us, and our strength."

He looks surprised as Glim proffered the gem, but nods in encouragement.

Landon

Landon huddled in the corner of the cell, hunched over his knees lost in thought. The turn his life had taken was unimaginable. But he was still alive. His thoughts kept wandering to Blindt. Was the gnome still alive? Did he get captured by the illithid as well? Where did he disappear to from that mountain? He hoped his old friend was in better straits that he was. More prisoners were recently brought in; the group would probably be taken soon, led to the drow city. That is when Landon hoped to make his escape, though the drow were using something to suppress his recently acquired powers. With luck, that suppression isn't mobile.

A commotion brings Landon out of his thoughts, though he still doesn't stir from his position. He can hear Ront yelling at the small mushroom creature, and what sounds like a punch or a kick. Stool screams in his mind for help. Landon clutches the crude iron bar hidden along the side of his leg, but he could never hope to overpower Ront, even by surprise. In any event, he's quite sure the drow wouldn't appreciate the murder of their strongest slave. Wait a minute...

Just as a thought occurs to him, Landon hears the gnome that came in with him offer something to Ront. Landon looks up to see what it is, a gem of some kind. He makes his move, speaking telepathically to the orc through the spores that Stool released, We have been watching you Ront, you fool. Mistress Ilvara will be greatly displeased to learn that you have injured the myconid. His mind-speech fetches a high price for us. Take the gem, and leave it for me by the cell door. I will not inform the Mistress of your violence. But touch the myconid again, and she will flay your skin.

Dakva Riversong (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=928197)

Dakva Riversong hated the Underdark already. It was impossible to see, there wasn't any sky for miles above, and she was cut off completely from the spirits that used to aid her. Perhaps her shyness was fortunate, as she seemed in better condition than some of the other prisoners here.

When the orc started bullying the myconid Dakva willed herself to speak up, but the Gnome had cut her off before she could say anything. From what little she knew of Orcs it didn't seem like Ront would be pacified.
"...Please stop hurting him. He's not... any different than you."

Dakva shifts around some, allowing easier access to the short rope in her belt should she need to defend herself.

Before bringing his foot down Ront quickly turns his head over to Glim as he speaks to him. He snarls at the small gnome but backs down as the others in the room begin to speak up for the little Stool. "Fine, i'll take your stupid pretty rock" he expresses out loud as he walks over and snatches the gem from Glims hands. "Maybe Grumsh will like it" He mumbles to himself before hulking away before stopping dead in his tracks as he hears the sound of a different voice in his head. He is initially confused as he has never heard this voice before and his captors have never spoken to him in his mind, but he begins having flashbacks of the beating he received when he first entered about a fortnight ago and he immediately recoils while grabbing his head in pain. "UGH pesky voices!" he steps heavily over to the iron gate and tosses the gem out before sulking into the nearest corner he can find. Not like there are really corners in the circular cave. After he settles Stool stands up and runs over to Glim and telepathically speaks to him in an excited manner "THANK YOU SO MUCH! You are so brave! Can we be best buds please!?!?"He gets up close to Glim, possibly closer than Glim prefers and then sits near him in a joyful manner. Well as joyful as he can appear.

Jimjar just sighs to himself and rolls his eyes. The other slaves inside the pen are either smiling or indifferent to the mushrooms defense. Eldeth the stout dwarf nods her head at the group while on the other hand Buppido expresses his disappointment with Glim telepathically for all to hear "Tks, could have used that gem to maybe buy our freedom out of here. Do you even think?"

Dakva felt something flare up inside her, and could feel her face turning red. That little mushroom almost died...
Before she knew it, she was speaking? telepathing? loudly in Buppido's direction.
"...O-of course he t-t-thinks. ...I-if you t-t-think they would have d-done a-anything other t-t-than take it and laugh a-at us, you're stupider than t-that orc."

Glim sags as relief washes over him. He swipes cold sweat off his brow. "Oh dear. That wasn't very smart..." Glim thinks to himself. For a moment he'd thought the orc might just crush him instead.

He smiles gently as the myconid runs over to him. "Thank you! Of course. One can never have too many friends in a place such as this" Glim says through the telepathic link. It really was an efficient method of communication. He pats Stool on the... Well, Glim supposed it was its head. He'd never been congratulated about his bravery before... It had been closer to foolishness, but Glim was glad nobody had to die. He was afraid the orc might attempt something again. Glim didn't have any more bribes on his person.

Glim turns to Buppido. His spirit was broken, but insulting his intelligence flared something inside him. As he prepared a spirited response, the quiet woman, who'd seemed even more timid than him, spoke. With Stool's telepathy, Glim adds:"Yes, I do believe that as well. In negotiations, the two parties need to be somewhat equal. As it is, the drow unfortunately have no need be civilized with us". Glim hadn't hoped to accomplish anything like an escape with the gem. He'd thought it might save him from a beating once, or get better food.

Landon

This is a lively bunch then. With luck, the group would be moved soon. They were still new, fresh. Their spirits hadn't been broken, as Landon had seen among the illithid captives. If the group could work together, they'll have a better chance at escape.

Landon moves over to the kuo-toa, Shuushar, are you meditating? I'd like a word, he says in Undercommon.

Barakas

Given his brief experience with the Underdark Barakas is at first bewildered at the telepathic exchanges but quickly realises what is going on. A rueful smile crosses his lips. For someone who lives by his silver tongue 'speaking' by thought is something that will take something getting used to!

A noble gesture my friend, the tiefling tells Glim through telepathy. A relief to meet someone else of finer feeling here. I am Barakas of Luskan. A bard by trade. Alas, those Drow in their barbarity have confiscated my flute, or I would give a performance to raise our spirits!

Reginald Collingsworth III

Kept himself tensed a bit, ready to intervene if the aggressive orc tried anything. He was actually quite pleased when Landon spoke up. He wasn't usre using his manacles as a weapon would have been terribly effective. When Ront took the gem and relented his attacks Reginald relaxed a bit and gave a look around.

It would seem that some of those captured here were happy with the saving of this mushroom person. He had heard of the Myconids and many of the other intelligent races. The Quaggoth was new to him, especially claiming to not be that particular race. All of this would have been incredibly interesting to him if not for being captured. The Underdark was an interesting place...but so dangerous.

It also seemed that many of them had been there longer than he. Still under the influence of the mushrooms spores he cleared his throat (an unnecessary act when engaging in telepathy) and spoke using only his mind. At once testing it out and introducing himself.

(Telepathy) "Glad to see the little one relatively unharmed. My name is Reginald and I've never been imprisoned with such a fine bunch of folks. It occurs to me that this little mental trick our fungus friend provides might help us in planning some sort of escape without our captors knowledge, would it not? Anyone who has been here longer than I please speak up if you know anything of note regarding our captors."

Straight, and to the point. Reginald in fact did not want to be in this prison any longer than he had to.

Buppido listens to the strange blue colored woman attempt to insult him and he chuckles to himself a bit before expressing his amusement "Oh yeah, I'm the stupid one! That's rich haha!"He pauses for a moment before looking up at Dakva maintaining eye contact "You have some spine though I'll give you that, I think we could all maybe work together to get out of here.. hmmm" He turns away thinking to himself.

Stool "looks" up at Glim excitedly and awaits a response. The Gnome wipes some sweat off his brow before expressing they can both be friends. Stool bounces with glee and happily sits next to Glim humming brightly out loud over the spores before quieting as Glim begins speaking to Buppido. Buppido just brushes the words off though "Yeah yeah I know, I've been here longer than you sonny." He expresses over his shoulder before going back to his thoughts.

Landon moves over to the quiet Kuo-toa and asks for a word. Shuushar opens his eyes and looks up and speaks gently in undercommon "Sure, what is it that you need my new friend?"

As Barakas speaks of the drows barbarity the only drow actually in the pen, Sarith, speaks up "Barbarity? Tsk, you are the one invading their territory..." He trails off a bit before continuing "We have to own up to our mistakes, or else we'll never move forward.." A look of pain flashes before his eyes as if some memory entered his mind that he did not want to relive.

After Reginald introduces himself in a friendly manner and asks for information using telepathy Eldeth the dwarf "speaks" up. "It is pleasant to meet you as well. Some of us have been here longer than others but I think we've all gleamed a certain amount of information that may be usable in our escape. For starters my name is Eldeth Feldrun, I am a scout from the great city of Gauntlgrym. If we ever get out of here i'm positive they would welcome us with open arms! I give you my word" She explains beaming. "We don't have the most time right now as I've learned that Stools spores only last for about an hour. I think it's best if we all share a little about ourselves and then we can discuss what we know about this place." Her words seem to sit well with the collection of races sitting in the pen and thanks to recent events some are more forthcoming than they usually would be.

The party learns that Prince Derendil the Hulking quaggoth is from the kingdom of Nelrindenvane in the High Forest. He claims his crown was usurped by the evil wizard Terrestor who imprisoned his people and turned the once beautiful gold elf into what you see before you.
You may roll a history check if you would like.
Through conversation they continue to learn more interesting facts about the others. It is clear that Eldeth is no fan of the "corrupt dark dwellers" (her words) and any race inherently from the underdark she seems to be somewhat initially negative towards/about
Jimjar is a rogue who may have come off initially harsh but through conversations he warms up to the group and apologizes to Stool for the wage, expressing it was in bad taste. He chuckles to himself after that. All the while eyeing the two other deep gnomes with a curious yet cautious eye.
Ront speaks to the group slightly, only expressing that he is from the Iceshield tribe and wants to redeem himself in the eyes of his god Gruumsh. He doesn't talk much though as he clearly has hatred towards Eldeth who initiated this whole conversation.
You learn that Sarith Kzekarit is not happy with his capture, as everyone else is, and feels disgraced. He accepts his situation but seems to have his spirits lifted as the party thinks about escaping. He doesn't really feel like saying more though unless asked.
Shuushar explains himself to be an aquatic hermit. He is well aware of his people's well-deserved reputation for madness, and claims to have spent a lifetime in contemplation and solitary meditation to overcome that legacy. It is clear that he has been successful as he appears very calm and peaceful. He seems at place even in his current predicament. He remains positive saying that no know knows to what end this may lead to.
Stool shares that he was actually captured by Sarith Kzekarit and he is lonely and scared and just wants to go home to Neverlight Grove. He says he will gladly guide everyone there as long as Glim comes.
Lastly Topsy and Turvy are twins who don't really care to share much with the group, just that they've been here for almost a month and they really hope to get out soon.

Initially this is all the info that is freely given and anything else will require some prodding.

"So, now that we shared a little about us. Why don't you share some things about who you all are? Then we can really start talking about this place." Buppido expresses, confident that freedom may be possible if things continue as they are.

Landon frowns as the suddenly chatty group keeps intruding on his thoughts through Stool's telepathic spores. I'm Landon, he responds to the group telepathically, and we've got the right idea of it. Better to attempt an escape here before they take us to their city. Any idea if Neverlight Grove is closer than Gauntlgyrm? As Stool and Eldeth puzzle that out, Landon continues speaking to the kuo-toa mystic in Undercommon. Shuushar, I wonder if, in your contemplations, you have discerned what may be suppressing the magic in this cell. I'm unable to call upon my own meager talents, and it is a curiosity to me how the drow are achieving this feat.

"<Telepathy> My name is Glim Davvyn Alner Yedon Dorser Wilmop Frug Horver Jorcryn Popip Ningel. If that is too hard to remember, I suppose using my first name is sufficient". It seemed to Glim most people he met outside his home village had trouble remembering simple names. "<Telepathy> I am a researcher of some skill. I was hoping that by coming here I could perhaps discover something great".

"<Telepathy> So, you really there's a chance of escape?" Glim asks hesitantly. His experiences of getting captured three times didn't exactly make him optimistic. "<Telepathy> I-I might have some thoughts about what is preventing magic from being used here, but I am not certain if it's within our power to do anything about it. If we really are going to escape, mundane means might fare better in this case".

Glim was relieved. It seemed his cellmates were after rather pleasant folk, save for a few exceptions. He didn't expect Ront to have enough brain cells to commit to a possible escape in any meaningful way, though Glim wouldn't dare to say, or think, that out loud. He couldn't trust the drow, and that derro, Buppido, didn't exactly seem very pleasant. He was afraid the drow would try to sell them out, but there really was no way to leave him out of their conversation.

There are three guards in there that are watching us and don't really appreciate us doing anything other than sitting around. I'm surprised they haven't come over yet with you milling about." Jimjar calmly explains the guard situation on the slave pen.

So you don't notice anything out of the ordinary in the cell. Frankly you don't really notice anything really, the drows seem to keep the place pretty bare.
For your magical ability you can tell that something magical is most likely preventing it but you aren't sure what it is and for how long it will be going on for, nor the extent of it.

"<Telepathy> So, you really there's a chance of escape?" Glim asks hesitantly. His experiences of getting captured three times didn't exactly make him optimistic.[/I][/B][/COLOR]

Eldeth smiles "I definitely think we can get out. We have a few days actually. It seems that there is some transportation hold up on the drow city side and it could be a matter of days or tendays before they show up to bring us to Menzoberranzan."

You determine that the room seems to have an anti-magic field on it not allowing any spells to be cast from within.

"D-do you usually wager on everything like t-this?

OOC: Is there any way for Dakva to know which direction is North while here?

Jimjar just shrugs at you.

Currently you can't figure out any sense of direction from the cell.
And you don't notice anything out of the ordinary.

Shuushar looks up at the bunch and turns his head specifically to Landon. "From my observations I have counted ninteen drow at this outpost, including Ilvara, Shoor, and Jorlan, as well as another priestess named Asha." Shuushar pauses before continueing "There are also a dozen quaggoth, not including our friend here, and a number of giant spiders below. I hope that can help you in your endeavors Mr. Landon"

Reginald Collingsworth III

Was actually quite delighted to see that those captured here were for the most part cordial, and also interested in escaping. He listened to each in turn, paying special attention to Buppido and Sarith. Those two were more dangerous than Ront, potentially. He held the same disdain for them that Eldeth did, but he kept it mostly under wraps for now. Better not to make waves in a situation such as this. Get out, then get away from the potential backstabbers.

Many of them though, were quite interesting. Stool especially. He seemed almost like a child, and the desire to see him home was actually quite strong in Reginald. Then there was the mention of Gauntlgrym. His childhood friend had gone on and on about the place and had by all accounts made it there. Wouldn't that be a sight. Striding into the famous undercity of the dwarves and finding an old friend. His mentor had been right. The underdark was as magical as it was dangerous.

Once everyone had said their piece he thought about how he could aid their escape.

(Telepathy)"I'm afraid I have only myself to aid in our escape. I'm a competent fighter but I'd much rather have my axes. These manacles won't do much good but I'll bring them to bear when the time comes. A little barbaric but it should do the trick if we're quick and smart enough in our assault on our captors. Luckily for us our Kuo-Toa friend is incredibly resourceful...with his observations we might yet come up with a plan to get out of this pen."

Not much, he needed to feel useful.

Landon

Landon peers through the gate and across the way, one eyebrow raised, as Jimjar explains the guard tower, Good to know, thank you Jimjar. Were we to extricate ourselves from this prison, must we make our way across that bridge? Or is there another way to go? He looks pointedly at Sarith, but the drow ignores his latest question, as he did the ones before. Sarith, I don't know what the punishment is for murdering someone, but I'd wager it isn't good. Don't you want to get out of here as much as the rest of us? We can use any information you might have on the outpost, or on your people in general. Do you know Mistress Ilvara or her guards?

When Shuushar speaks, Landon turns to regard him, Shuushar, that is precisely the type of information we need. Thank you, though I fear the revelation is not ideal. We have no hope of overpowering a score drow and half again as many quaggoth. Especially without magic. I wonder if their ability to suppress it is mobile, and how wide an area it covers.

Landon moves back to the wall, Shuushar, have you noticed their movements? Daily schedules or routines? If we can track where and when they'll be, we can come up with a plan to sneak out of here. If we do, Eldeth, do you think you can find your way back home? What about you Stool?

Relkin, have we noticed anything about their routines in the few days we've been here? Or about the layout of the place as we go to and from performing the menial tasks, or have we not left the cell? Just trying to get a sense of what we might already know in the few days we've been here.

Landon

You raise a good point Reginald, these manacles, Landon says, raising his shackled hands. During the work day tomorrow, we should all look for anything we can scavenge that may serve as makeshift lockpicks. He pauses and gives the man an appraising look, When the time comes, you may find this a better fit for a weapon. Landon pulls a crude iron bar out from behind his clay pot just enough for Reginald to see it is there, I'm sure you will make better use of it than I would.

Glim looks uncomfortably at the crude iron bar. He sighs. "<Telepathy> Oh dear. I'm not very comfortable with all this talk of violence, but I suppose it is inevitable if we wish to escape. Oh my. Regardless, I do not posses much expertise with close quarters combat, though I do have some spells that could prove useful"

Glim makes complicated gesture, but nothing happens"<Telepathy> Alas, I fear the drow have set up quite extensive anti magic zone inside this cell. I'd guess it doesn't extend much outside it. The drow have many spellcasters among their kind, and I don't think they'd want to hinder their own magical abilities. It is possible they might have set up other anti-magic zones, but I'm afraid I haven't had time to test that hypothesis. I fear if I tried casting any spells they'd think I was trying something... Unwise..."

After a few minutes of comparing experiences and views of the outpost from the different creatures in the cell the party all learn that - Color coded by who provided the info:

There are nineteen drow at the outpost, including Ilvara, Shoor, and Jorlan, as well as another priestess named Asha. There are also a dozen quaggoths and a number of giant spiders located on the webbing below the place. - Shuushar
Three drow guards watch the slave pen from the hanging guard tower across the rope bridge, visable through the locked gate. - Jimjar
The cell has some sort of antimagic effect on it. - Sarith
Jorlan the drow warrior suffered disfiguring injuries recently. Before then, he seemed more in Ilvara's favor. Now Shoor seems to have displaced him. - Buppido
Jorland used to have a wand that shot globs of sticky material able to trap targets. Now Shoor carries it, as another sign of their change in status. - Buppido
It might be a matter of days or tendays before a contingent from Menzoberranzan arrives to take prisoners back to the drow city. - Eldeth

Sarith begins to speak telepathically again to the group after the most recent details were discussed among everyone. I few other things I can tell you that the others here wouldn't know....A supply patrol from Menzoberranzan is a few days overdue, which is unusual for them....And... well... There are three tunnels below the outpost in the cavern. That would be our escape area. One to Menzoberranzan, one towards the Darklake and a third towards the duergar cty of Gracklstugh..

Before he could continue telepathically speaking he stops as the three male drow guards cross the rope bridge from their hanging tower and appear before the iron gate. "Up." is all one speaks in undercommon while gesturing with his shortsword in an upword fashion. The other two drow warriors hold hand crossbows up, pointing the tip of the bolt towards the iron gate. They are about 5 feet away from the gate while the other is standing a foot away.

Where have you seen Jorlan's wand being used? Landon addresses the group, that may give us an indication of where this anti-magic effect ends. That, and if the escape happens in Shoor's presence, getting our hands on that wand may help keep our immediate captors from pursing.

Darklake? What can we find there? I'm not sure what our chances might be like being received by duergar.

When the guards approach, Landon says through the spores, Remember, it sounds like we have some days. Nothing hasty. Let's get a look at the layout, and try to find anything we may be able to secret away and use to help our escape. And the guards will hear our telepathy, so...

Normally he would be absolutely terrified, but he'd already been captive some time, and it didn't look like the drow were going to kill them right away, so he was only somewhat frightened. As the drow pointed the crossbows at them, Glim stiffened. It seemed their captors were prepared for a breakout.

Glim eyes the drow, trying to spot if one of them had a wand. He was almost certain what spell Buppido talked about was, and it indeed would greatly aid them in escaping.

Dakva stands and the Drow in the front, Shoor begins to explain what is going on in undercommon. "Time for work. You will be split up into 5 separate groups for today's work. You disgusting creatures who have been here longer can show the newcomers how to get some work done." As he finishes that sentence the drow that left prior returns back to his position from the right hand side and sets himself back to where he was standing prior, crossbow in hand. From the right hand side three hulking quaggoths also walk out and stand ready behind the two drow in the back. Shoor smiles again and continues "I will now list off who is teaming up with who. And if that is too difficult for your little brains to comprehend then step to the side of the room with the color assigned to you. I'm sure you can follow colors.

In an instant 5 colorful lights in total appear in front of the two drow behind Shoor. They fly into the room and line the walls, dimly lighting the area in their glow. In a clockwise (using the gate as the head) formation they round the room as follows: Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, and Purple.

Shoor begins to speak again in undercommon to explain the groups "The genasi, Jimjar and Shuushar are Red. The tiefling, Derindil and Turvy are blue. The Illithid's toy, Sarith and Topsy are yellow. He looked down at Stool and wondered if they wanted to serve mushrooms with anything. That would be awkward. None the less he followed and made no ill moves, deciding that being beaten by Quaggoths was not how he wanted to spend his day.

Glim, Eldeth and Ront are led out onto the rope bridge followed by Reginald, Stool and Buppido. Upon exiting the slave pen you all notice to the right there is a set of stairs going downwards. Presumably where the Drow disappeared to and where the Quaggoth came from. There is a Drow standing on the rope bridge who walks to the guard tower as the group fills in the bridge. Below are cascades of webbings ready to catch anything that falls. Once the group fills the bridge a Quaggoth stands behind them.
The Drow leads the group through the guard tower and onto another rope bridge. The roaring of a waterfall is heard to the left and after they finish crossing the rope bridge they are led back onto the rock outcropping. This is where everyone is stopped by the drow and he turns to the group. He points to to Glim, Eldeth and Ront and then points at the rock wall near the waterfall. He gestures with his crossbow for the three to move that way and Eldeth and Ront follow the orders. The Quaggoth stays behind with Glim, Eldeth and Ront at the waterfall while the Drow continues on with Reginald, Stool and Buppido.

Perception check please :)

The drow leads this group further along the rock wall and past a another stalactite tower. Not before long they stop upon the first gated room and the drow tells Buppido to open the door. The three are shuffled into the cave to find four circular tables carved from zurkhwood, each surrounded by five chairs. There is 1 drow sitting in the room getting some cards ready to play with the escorting drow. He looks at the group as they walk in and smile, not a warm smile but more of a sinister smile. The drow with you points to the table at the back end of the room and he then sits to join in with the others. Part of the hall is used as a food preparation and storage area, containing stocks of dried and fresh fungi, dried fruits, cheeses, preserved meat, and a few clay jars of spices. A heavy iron brazier provides heat for cooking along with dim light.

Back at the slave pen Shoor looks at the group and proceeds to speak in undercommon about the other tasks that will unfold today "Well then, why don't we have the Red team line up first outside and followed by the blue. You first three will be helping by operating the lift with some new supplies that came. Meanwhile you other three will be cleaning the barracks." He gestures with his shortsword before smiling back "Oh and you last three get to stay here for something much more fun" He chuckles to himself.

As you look around confused and unsure and the others start to line up Shoor shouts "Halt" and the others stop. "On second thought I don't like this group layout.. No we are going to switch it up. Demon you go with the Red group and Genasi you go with the Blue. Yes that'll work better.

Derindil turns around around speaks to Dakva in elvish "Looks like we are together now my new friend."

Dakva walked over to Derendil and Turvy.
"[Elvish] A-alright... Did S-shoor change t-the groups?"

After Landon and the two others line up the pots, Shoor orders everyone available to grab as many chamber pots as they can hold and then get in formation on the bridge.

The groups begin to line up outside, again with a drow at the other end of the bridge near the guard tower. Barakas is first then Jimjar then Shuushar. A quaggoth then separates them and the next group. Following up with Dakva, Derendil and Turvy They are then separated by another quaggoth and following that would be Landon, Sarith and Topsy. With Shoor closing the iron gate behind, leaving it unlocked and finishing off the groups standing behind everyone.

Once everyone is ready they begin to move out.

Dakva watched the quaggoths carefully, even Derendil. No reason to be caught off guard.

Barakas shows off his pointed teeth at Jimjar in mock anger, then winks back. Picking up the chamber pot he swiftly moves to the line, taking his position. The tiefling is trying to keep his wits about him without being too obvious.

Glim follows the drows orders, walking to the waterfall (I assume there's laundry for them to wash).

"Oh dear", Glim says to Eldeth, keeping his voice quiet and shakes his head. "You see, I've mostly concerned myself with academic matters for the past century, and so I believe the last time I washed laundry by hand was approximately seven decades ago. I do hope you have some more expertise in this matter. I will gladly follow your lead in this matter, and try my best to re-learn this particular skill"

If Glim thinks no drow is watching too closely, he will try to clean some of the laundry with Prestidigitation.

With the Drow at the head he leads the group down the rope bridge, through the guard tower and across another rope bridge. You each see the roaring waterfall to the left while walking across the rope bridge and you pass Glim and his group as you get to the cave wall and rock walkway. You continue down the walkway passing another stalactite, it's contents unknown but a rope bridge leading to it. Finally you come to an opening, some safe ground it seem, the first door to the left is the main hall in which Reginald is preparing a meal with his group. The group continues on before it stops in between the two next doors on the left. As you examine your surroundings you notice that there are stone steps further away that lead downwards. To your right there is a 1-foot-thick platform of zurkhwood extending between two of the hanging towers that are also to your right. On your left hand side are three adjoining caverns, one of them being the Main Hall that Reginald is in. The two caves on your left serve as what appear to be a barracks for the rank-and-file drow warriors of the outpost. From here it is hard to really see the details but those who enter can get a better understanding of the layout.

Nature check can for identifying Zurkhwood
Sorry glim you haven't had a chance to be around it yet. And Reginald a check for you as well since I forgot to mention it when you entered the main hall.

Shoor walks to the front "Alright Genasi, you get to clean this with Derindil and Turvy. Fun Fun. Now get on in!" he points with his short sword to the first door on the left hand side (while facing the doors). Two drow walk out of the left side barracks and three drow walk out of the right side barracks. The two that walked out head towards the rope bridges and the guard tower over the slave pen while the three that walked out head into the main hall for presumably the smell of food that is wafting out. It's been awhile since any of you have had a good meal and that smell is almost horrible to experience as it is clear you won't be having any.

When Dakva and the two others enter the first barracks you find six pallets line the walls, three on either side. Each pallet has a small zurkhwood chest in front of it. The walls are lined with spider silk rope webbings and there are hooks set for handing lanterns as well as presumably other items. One lantern is hanging while lit, very dimly. The Drow that led the group here leans against the wall by the entrance as he enters after them, he nods towards a broom, some rags and a bucket full of dirty water in the corner. "Get to work" is all he says before closing his eyes while leaning against the wall.

__________________________________________________ ______________________________________

After dropping off Dakva and her group the party is then lead across the landing to platform on the right hand side. Attached to the edge of the barracks platform is a winch-and-basket device consisting of a large swinging arm that carries a thin cord of strong spider silk. The cord runs through a series of pulleys from a hand-cranked horizontal spool to a heavy woven basket suspended at the end. The basket is kept up on the platform except when it is in use. There are two quaggoth attendants who are waiting around, they stand tall when the group comes over.

"Demon spawn you and the others will be unloading a new shipment that just arrived. You must lower everyone first before heading down yourself to take care of the shipment that just arrived." Shoor explains impatiently.

Barakas and his group are left by the lift as Landon and his group are ordered to pile into the basket. The Quaggoth attendants take over manning the lift first to show how it is done to the others. Before speaking briefly in undercommon that they will be next to use it.

__________________________________________________ ______________________________________

Landon and his group pile all of the chamber pots into the basket while also trying to fit themselves in. They fit pretty snug but it seems like there would be room if the chamber pots weren't there. It is clear that about 4 medium sized creatures could fit snugly inside the basket. You are lowered to the ground floor of the huge cavern that Velkynvelve is located in. They pass by webbing that emcompases most of the area near the waterfall. There is no light down below, just pure darkness, luckily you can see. It takes about 20-30 seconds to reach the bottom and you are greeted by a Elite Drow not unlike Shoor. He points towards the lake not far from here and orders you all pick up the chamber pots to transfer over there. It may be difficult to carry them all between the three of you but he doesn't seem to mind watching the group struggle.

__________________________________________________ ________________________________________

Glim and his group find three basket full of smelly clothes. There is just the Quaggoth there watching but other than that they are free to wash the clothes under the waterfall and lay them out on the lines to dry. Eldeth and Ront don't seem to be enjoying their time together.

Reginald Collingsworth III

Had since put down the knife and begun to actually cook, making sure to keep Bupiddo and Stool busy, in case the drow had any ideas about beating people for being lazy. He had them hand him spices, taste things and give their opinion and generally kept the three of them bustling about around the pantry area and the cooking brazier as he spoke to the interested captor.

"Learned it from an old tradesman. He used to frequent the lightless world to fetch magical reagents, collect bounties on different exotic monsters and trade with the more amicable races. I was supposed to be his apprentice but now I suppose I'm not going to be doing any daring adventurer work huh?"

He chuckled and telepathically made sure to tell Stool and Bupiddo his plans were to keep their captors on as good a footing as he could, since he figured cooking was preferable to being beaten or made to do harder work. He only answered questions from then on out and didn't try and make small talk with their captor, just hoping that the smell of well spiced food would keep the drow from growing agitated.

Before the telepathy ends Buppido tells Reginald that one of them should try to steal a kitchen knife, that it may end up coming in handy.

The Drow conversing with Reginald scoffs at his comments "You can see well enough to cook can't you human? Then it isn't as lightless as you thought" Three other drow walk in and set down at the tables. They seem to be getting restless and hungry.

You have time to attempt a slight of hand check if you want to steal something from the prep tables before the new drow walk in. If you attempt after the drow walk in it's at a disadvantage since there are 5 of them now.
Also you are just about done cooking but also the telepathy is about to end and you could get one more comment in if you want.

Luckily enough with the distractions by Buppido and Stool as well as the plates coming out Reginald is able to slide the knife into his back waistband without anyone noticing. The plates begin to go out for the drow who are there and as that happens three more drow walk in ready to have some food.

You no longer can speak telepathically with the others as the spores have worn off.

Glim as the cleaning starts to progress you notice Ront and Eldeth are getting more aggressive towards each other. They are shoving as they try to get the clothes and start to clean them.

Yes it seems that's a good idea. Hopefully we'll fit with that hulker....." Jimjar expresses at Barakas. He turns to the Quaggoth and tells them Him and Barakas wild be heading down. You are loaded into the basket with Jimjar and the Quaggoth. Without the other Quaggoth to help it is a bit of a bumpier ride as Shuushar is getting used to loading the items. Once you reach the bottom you notice an assortment of large box's and... Just that. It is very black down on the cavern floor and looking up you can't even see the outpost. The Quaggoth shoves you towards some boxes and orders you to load them up.

Also, trying Mage Hand again.

Sarith responds quietly to you "What we passed was the Shrine to Lolth, Ilvara's quarters and Shoor's quarters. Your stuff is most likely in there to be honest. I'm not exactly sure where but Ilvara most likely wanted to keep it close." He pauses before continuing "Listen I have an idea... Be careful of the water, something lurks within that is very dangerous. We may be able to lead this guard over and close enough to be attacked... What do you think?"

You notice that the lake is rather large. It is hard to see how huge it actually is but it seems to go on into the darkness of the rest of the cavern. Looking behind you, just barely notice what seems like a cavern wall, but its hard to tell as it appears to not be consistent and opens up again before being what looks like a wall again. You don't notice anything in the water though or movements, just still.

On the Elite Drow you notice that like Shoor this drow is carrying a hand crossbow, short sword and seems to be better armored than the other Drow guards. He seems like he could easily hold his own against the regular drow guards.

Your mage hand surprisingly works here and you don't have any issues casting it. But if you want to use it on the pots roll me a slight of hand to not be noticed by the Drow watching you. If you are interested in keeping it secret that is.
As for the guard tower you passed through you noticed, a zurkhwood table (which you aren't familier with Zurkhwood) three chairs, a smaller side table, a spider silk webbing set with hooks for handing equipment along the wall. You notice that there is an upstairs area which you are unsure as to what would be up there.

Landon raises an eyebrow and gives Sarith a slight nod indicating for him to go on.

Be careful of the water, something lurks within that is very dangerous. We may be able to lead this guard over and close enough to be attacked... What do you think?

What-- now? Landon asks. To what end? And what about the others? We have a better chance of surviving outside this outpost in a larger group. He peers out onto the lake, trying to see any indication of the hidden creature Sarith is referring to. It is something to keep in mind though, for when we come up with a plan. Barakas is trying to momentarily turn his eyes blue with the Thaumaturgy cantrip, mostly to see if he can use his magic again.

With a nod approval Jimjar lets Barakas know he notices the change, but the moment is short lives as they both are jolted by the noise of a deep scream barely heard over the roar of the waterfall from which it is originating.

"Oh dear", Glim thought. "It looks like speech really can't get through his thick skull. I don't really have a suitable spell for this, even if I could get away with casting it. I've read about great diplomats, but I really don't have much experience in actual diplomacy".

Glim was getting really frustrated about Ront's foolishness. So much, that it was overcoming his fear of him. "Listen you... big... oaf! That quaggoth there is probably just looking for an excuse to attack us. I'm trying save us all from a beating", Glim whispered angrily to Ront. Then he flushed. "Uh, I mean that would the best option, I believe. We need to work together, if we want to survive".

Ront glares at Glim and begins walking towards him. Separating what little space there is left on the rock outcropping. Soon there is only a foot between Glim and Ront as well as a foot between Glim and a drop into darkness. Ront smiles menacingly at Glim but before either of them could do anything out of the side the quaggoth guarding the group tackles Ront and they begin to grapple, unfortunately it is short lived. As they get closer and closer to the edge the quaggoth missteps and slips off the moist walkway, pulling them both into the darkness below. Their screams are clearly heard by Glim and Eldeth over the roar of the waterfall until they hear a loud splash and then silence. That is until about 6 Drow coming rushing over to the walkway and begin screaming at Glim asking in undercommon what happened? They demand an answer and half draw their swords while the other half draw their crossbows, aimed at Glim and Eldeth.

Landon

Landon keeps busy emptying out the pots and rinsing them out at the lakeshore as Sarith whispers in response, What we passed was the Shrine to Lolth, Ilvara's quarters and Shoor's quarters. Your stuff is most likely in there to be honest. I'm not exactly sure where but Ilvara most likely wanted to keep it close.

The half-elf frowns, In truth I had little with me. I'm not sure we should make an attempt to recover our things when we escape. It may make better sense to grab what we can on the way.

Listen I have an idea...

Landon gives a sidelong glance to the wall behind him, Is it me, or is there a tunnel or hollow in that wall there? He looks at both the dark elf and the deep gnome for an answer.

Sarith and Topsy both respond with a nod of agreement. Most likely that is one of the tunnels leading out. Before either of them can think about it further though they are alarmed by screams coming from the waterfall. Turning around just in time they see two figures almost intertwined falling in front of the waterfall and ultimately crashing into the water. After what feels like minutes but is really only thirty seconds they float/swim to the top gasping for air. A closer inspection reveals it to be Ront in the water and one of the quaggoth guards.

Landon hears Sarith let out "Oh no.." under his breath. As they watch the two wading out in the water their see a rumbling begin. Out from the water rises this greyish substance, almost like liquid stone. In that moment their minds are invaded by a telepathic voice:

F̵͓̯̼̫͍̬̋̍͛͌̎Ĺ̷͍̻͓̦͈̋̀̐͜͠͝͞͠ͅĖ̸̢̛̲̮̰͎͉͇͑̌́͐̂̚͟͞S ̧̺͈̖̙̙́́͌̀̈́̍̕̕H̴̢̧̟̤̘̏̽͂̐̿̃̿͡ F̷͓̜̥̭̈͗̀͛̀͌̚̚͝͡ͅO̡̨̨̙̹̹̓̂̋̉̓̌́̏͞R̨̹̯͍̗̥͖̤̋͗̉̋͠ ̶̤͓ Ţ̖̰̱̲͍̃͌̓̂̈́̕͘̕͝H̛͙̣̗̩̒́̉͗̏͛̚͟Ȩ̳̳͓̭̹͙͂̀͊̐̇͑̾͂͡ ̶̤ F͍̮͇̙̙͑̏̇̒̚͝͞Â̵̺̟̲̫̰̩̇̏̽̽̆͒͂͐̚͟͢C̸̛͕͕̬̝̭̔̌̾̃̈́͋̇͢E ̵̛̬̰͕͉͕͖̙͔̓̔͗͂̿͂͘͘͞Ĺ̡̹̩̞̖̊͑̽͡͡È̛͇̩̙̣̼̠͚́̊̽́̚ͅŠ͐ ̵̦͔͓͚̲̪͂̍̂̎̀̈S̸̢͚̥͖͖̋̾́̎͛̔͟ͅ L̨̰̳͕̜̙͌̉͑̈́̋̿̅̍̇͜͜Ő̴̼̝͚̺͈͋̎̓͂̆͌̌͜͜͡Ŗ̴̡͍̬̦͋̌̓͌̑͜D ̵̺̼̺̩̫̞̳̩̃͌̅̂͋̆͋̊̕͢͡!̸̡̪͈̥͇̳̠̜̗͆̍̄͒̍̏͡

That is all they hear as they see the grey oozing like stone substance crash down onto Ront and the quaggoth and take them down into the water below. Their muffled screams are all that is heard before they are taken under. Then the rise of bubbles to the surface until ultimately nothing. The elite drow is standing besides the three staring out into the water.

Reginald Collingsworth III

Looked up in alarm as there was a suddenly a flurry of activity in the room. With the drow who were eating suddenly heading out to some call to action, he suspected. He just hoped it wasn't one of the other prisoners trying something and getting caught. That didn't track in his mind though...they wouldn't need so many to deal with something like that.

He quickly turned to Bupiddo and looked around the prep area. He leaned over and spoke very quietly to the derro.

"Something is obviously up. Count the knives and if you think there are enough they won't notice try and get one I'll distract this guy for a second."

Reginald gave a few short orders to Stool and Bupiddo about getting things cleaned up and more plates ready for when the drow came back, then made his way out of the prep area and towards the door. He addressed the drow in undercommon and tried to get a look out the door but didn't move to leave the room at all, standing up on his tip toes and trying to see as far out of the room as he could.

"Is something wrong? Are we under attack? Surely you men can handle anything that might try and harm us right?"

Hoping to make enough of a distraction for Bupiddo to get a knife of his own hidden away. Reginald was inquisitive with the drow but very submissive, not wanting to risk getting into a confrontation that might give away his own theft.

Buppido continues cleaning but if Reginald glances at him he just nods back with a smile.

The Drow just brushes Reginald off and expresses "Hurry it up and finish cleaning. You are returning to your cell sooner than planned. One of your little friends fell off the cliff." He laughs as he said the last comment.

Glim raises his hands. "<Undercommon> Sorry! No, I mean we didn't do anything! The orc started making trouble and the quaggoth tackled him, and they both fell down!". Glim points to the edge where the two fell. "<Undercommon> I'd really appreciate if no one did anything rash, such as shooting us"

Before the other Drow could interrigate further out steps the leader herself, Ilvara, from the nearby stalactite. She begins yelling at the other Drow and produces a tentacle like rod. She snaps at Glim and Eldeth "We will interrogate you later! Get these things back to the cell and bring everyone else back. Work is done for the day!" She barks orders at the other drow and they hussle in formation. Two of the ones nearby lead Eldeth and Glim back to the cell and shuffle them inside. The others disperse to the other areas to get the other prisoners.

Sarith and Topsy both nod, and Landon wonders quietly aloud, For sure the tunnels are patrolled... I think three tunnels were mentioned though. Where are the oth--- Landon is interrupted by a commotion and shouting, no, screams, from up above. Suddenly, a form falls into the lake from the upper levels. Landon jumps back, startled, What is it? he exclaims.

After a few moments, two forms appear at the water's surface, Is that Ront? And... Derendil? The two must have had a disagreement. Ront, the fool! We will need both of their strength to make it out of here. Landon moves to wade into the lake, but Sarith recoils from the shore and whispers, Oh no... Landon stops as waves begin to form in the water. Ront, Derendil move! he shouts, startled as his voice joins the only other noise in the massive cavern, the sounds of Ront and the quaggoth struggling in the water. A creature approaches, swim! The ripples in the lake break way before a massive fluid grey tentacle. An enormous oozing creature explodes out of the water and takes Ront and the quaggoth into the black waters below. With it comes a powerful and painful telepathic message, and Landon holds the side of his head as he watches helplessly while his two former cellmates vanish. As quickly as the creature appeared, it was gone with Ront and Derendil, and the waves became ripples, and then the water was still.

Before anyone can really give this situation too much thought the Elite drow walks over and orders the group to collect the pots. He tells them that everyone needs to return to the surface and back to the pen. Once everyone is ready he leads them back to the basket lift where they meet up with Barakas and his group.

You realize that the creature that came out is Grey Ooze, confusingly enough though they aren't the type of creature to just attack anything that enters its territory. Even more shocking is that from your studies you have never found a case where a Gray Ooze could use telepethy.....

From there they meet up with Dakva and her group and the rest are ultimately led back in single file by an elite drow, a drow and a quaggoth.

Upon returning they find Glim, Reginald, Eldeth, Stool and Buppido already in the pen. The drow shove the slaves inside and shut the iron door behind them. Locking the door. The only person missing is Ront....

Tossed the rag he had been cleaning with into the bucket and turned to hear that they were to be inspected. Uh oh. Reginald slid up beside Bupiddo and looked over at the Derro for a second and then back to the drow. As he saw him come closer Reginald figured he was sunk and he'd be beaten to some extent. Bummer.

When the interruption came he tried not to let out that sigh of relief. Not until they had been prodded out of the mess hall type area did he breathe a sigh of relief that was masked as being happy to be done with working for the day. He tried to pay attention to his surroundings and was almost getting the hang of it...but the Underdark was certainly more confusing than the lighted world above.

Stepping into the cell and carefully taking a seat Reginald didn't let on that he had a knife yet, he glanced over to Glim and Eldeth.

"Did you see what happened? From the kitchen we couldn't see a thing we heard someone fell off a cliff."

Once everyone else came in Reginald was quick to ask then what they knew as well.

As Glim returns to his cell, he finds surprising comfort in Ront not being there. Ront had sort of been on his side as he wasn't on the drow side, but the orc had been a bully. Glim couldn't stand his idiotic behaviour, and he couldn't feel anything but relief by Ront's disappearance. He guessed the big brute couldn't swim very well. Then again, there were many beasts in the Underdark. Still, these feelings weren't something he had ever felt before... Glim was feeling very confused right now.

Landon

Sarith and Topsy dare not speak in front of the elite drow. Landon gathers himself and obeys the command, gathering the pots and returning to the bucket lift, sparing one last glance at the lake's surface before squeezing into the bucket and returning to the upper level. On the way back, he wonders at what he had seen. The gray ooze was more aggressive than that kind of creature is known for, much more aggressive. What's more, it spoke telepathically. At first, Landon's instincts were that a mind flayer had arrived, but his own telepathy is more honed now and he is sure the message came from the ooze, Oozes are mindless, he thought, They can't think, let alone speak... And what did it say? Faceless Lord?

[roll0]

At the cell, Landon is reunited with the others. Derendil! I thought you dead! He explains what they had seen in the cavern below, There was a commotion from above, and Ront and a quaggoth fell into the lake struggling against each other. I thought it was you Derendil, I thought perhaps the two of you had had a disagreement. They surfaced for only a moment before a gray ooze emerged from within the depths and... took them both below the waters.

As Reginald enters and asks his question Eldeth just lowers her head while shaking it. She didn't like the orc but still felt bad watching someone die.

Once everyone has entered Stool lets out his spores to let everyone speak. He heads over to Glim happy to see him but also sad that Glim looks so down.

The group discusses what had just occurred. Some are shocked but most are indifferent. Ront was indeed a bully and most denizens of the underdark could care less to see him go.

As the discussions progress everyone begins to share their different views on the layout of the camp. Ultimately you all can mostly discern what the place looks like and in your heads come up with a rudimentary image of the area.

http://i.imgur.com/mwKJVJe.jpg

Unfortunately before anyone could really discuss further a Drow walks over to the cell doors from the guard tower. He is a strong looking drow, well dressed like Shoor but has a large scar on half of his face, seemingly a horrific accident occurred involving acid.... His hands grab the bars as he peers through and into the cell. It is clear that the damage done to his face also affected one of his hands as one was twisted and missing two fingers. He opens his mouth and begins to speak in undercommon "For those of you who do not know my name is Jorlan. It seems an unfortunate incident occurred and we have lost one of our more stronger slaves. Does anyone care to share as to what has happened?" He asks in a soft tone, almost kind which is unlike most of the drow treatment thus far.

After the initial discussion, Reginald pondered for a moment. Such a strange place considering he was used to used to the architecture of the world above. If not for the killer grey slime creature they could simply jump down into the water it would seem. Perhaps the thing was a security measure gone mad. That would seem like something the drow would do.

When the slightly mangled drow approached he regarded the man with a cautious few looks, but when he spoke rather kindly compared to recent treatment Reginald sat up and spoke first...interested in Shoor's intentions.

(Undercommon)"Well I wasn't there but from what we talked about...Ront got into a disagreement with one of the Quaggoth guard and during their ensuing fight they both pitched over the edge. I believe Glim was present there and he speaks the common language of the underdark so he might be able to give a better accounting."

Reginald looked to Glim, knowing he was timid but if he could give a satisfactory accounting of the events for Shoor it might do them some good.

Landon

Landon listens as the others describe their experiences. The group begins to form a picture of the outpost's layout based on what they had each seen. He communicates with the others using Stool's spoors.

I was no fan of Ront myself, or of brutish orcs in general. But we could have used his strength. Landon wonders if could have diffused the situation before it escalated had he been there. He shakes his head at Glim, I think not Glim. Oozes are typically rather docile. This one in the lake was aggressive. Unusually so. It is not something you would want to get close to for the purposes of study. If we could kill it though, the lake may be a way out.

Speaking of which, I saw one of the tunnels leading off from the cavern. We'd need to learn more about how it is patrolled, but that way does exist. Getting everyone down to the cavern at the same time is another matter.

Was anyone able to--- Landon is cut short by the presence of a drow warrior. Well dressed and imposing, the man introduces himself as Shoor, and he bears the scars on his face and hand to match the stories Landon had heard of him. It seems an unfortunate incident occurred and we have lost one of our more stronger slaves. Does anyone care to share as to what has happened? He asks in the undercommon tongue in a gentle manner, unlike the rest of his kin.

Landon is unsure how to respond, thrown off by Shoor's tone. Reginald speaks up first, Well I wasn't there but from what we talked about...Ront got into a disagreement with one of the Quaggoth guard and during their ensuing fight they both pitched over the edge. "...Um, w-what is he saying?"

Once she understands what Jorlan is saying, she nods along with the others.
"Y-yes, I would v-very much like t-to get away f-from here... D-do you a-all t-think he is t-trustworthy...?"

Landon

Landon's eyes go wide at the sight of the apples hitting the cell floor. His stomach growls, but he does his best to ignore his hunger, DON'T TOUCH THOSE! he hisses in Undercommon. He kicks the apples away from the others, then turns to await the consequences from Jorlan with a mixture of fear and defiance on his face. Jorlan regards him for a moment and then continues, Consider the apples a gesture of my good will. Listen, pretend I am still interrogating you all.. He takes a slight deep breath before proceeding, If I could give you a means to escape from here, would you take it? Landon's gaze sharpens, What do you mean?

Wha- escape? Umm, please forgive my suspicion, but what would you profit from our escape? Glim asks the drow.

Jorlan glances back and forth real quick in a nervous manner Listen I don't care what happens to any of you in all honesty.. Just nothing would make me happier than bringing shame upon Illvara, and you guys escaping will do just that. So is that a yes or no? I don't have a lot of time...

Once Glim translates, the others in the cell slowly nod in agreement, wondering if the drow can be trusted.

I'm afraid I do care what happens to me Jorlan. Your want for revenge is not enough for me to risk my life. I need to know I won't be getting myself scarred or maimed or worse because you're just not thinking clearly right now. What do you have in mind?

Raised an eyebrow when Jorlan seemed to give them food. He was an interesting person it would seem. Something that he had learned about the drow was their penchant for treachery. In this case it might work in their favor. Jorlan seemed very interested in seeing Ilvara shamed so as long as that end was being delivered to him he would most likely stay true.

Furrowing his brow as the others deliberated he picked up one of the apples that Landon had kicked and wiped his on his shirt. He took a bite and looked up at Jorlan, shrugging his shoulders. It might be good if they died too, but he figured Jorlan hadn't poisoned the apples. Poison was expensive and probably a waste on such as them.

(Undercommon)"I guess Landon is right...I'd certainly like a way out but if your plan is to unlock the door and let us have at it I'd rather not. So tell me, what exactly is your plan?"

Jorlan then continues on and explains the plan, "Listen close because I've already been here too long. Today your meal time will fall right before the guard shift change. I'll deliver your meal and unlock the door to the slave pen. After that I'll distract the guards during the switch so the tower will be free. In the top room of the tower is an armory where you will find a lot of useful items. None of your original gear but enough to get you going. After that jump down to the webbing and into the pool of water to swim to the shore and get free." He quickly lists the instructions and eagerly waits for a reply..

Nothing happens to you from eating the apple.

Hadn't seen the ooze for himself but certainly didn't think it was something they should be messing with. Maybe after eating Ront and a quaggoth it wouldn't be hungry anymore that day...

Reginald shrugged his shoulders and looked over to Landon.

"It's probably our best chance this place is crawling with guards. Even a small distraction like this would be impossible to get otherwise. Maybe the ooze is busy digesting Ront and the quaggoth...they weren't a small meal."

It seems most everyone in the cell wants to enact Jorlan's plan. Landon sighs and shakes his head in disbelief. Any plan of escape will have some risk, he says, more to himself than to anyone else. He looks to Topsy and Sarith, who had also seen the monstrous gray ooze. They are probably thinking their chances are good that the ooze will engulf someone else, someone less agile in the water.

Some of us will die tomorrow, he says in defeat.

Landon waits for Jorlan to leave before entreating the rest of the group, This is very likely suicide, but it's an opportunity we will not have a second time. We have to make the most of it. I didn't see any, but I imagine spiders crawl across the webbing below us. It doesn't make a difference to Jorlan if we escape, or get eaten in the webbing or in the lake. If Ilvara loses all of her slaves to a foolhardy escape, she is shamed just the same. So we must be smart about this...

Ront and that quaggoth fell into the lake without hitting the webbing. Maybe if we make our way to the bridge, we can drop right into the waters. That puts us right over where the ooze was, but avoids the sticky webbing and any spiders. He looks to the others, Thoughts?

Listened as Landon worked through his thoughts, Reginald couldn't really come up with anything better. Running from the ooze seemed smarter than trying to fight through the spider webs, where some of them could easily be caught. Also with the fact that they would have to drop down anyway avoiding the webs seemed prudent.

"Dangerous, but I agree it's probably our best chance. This might come down to who can get away from the ooze...if that ends up being the case let's try not to be savages, hmm?"

The idea of having to only be faster than the slowest among them didn't sit well with Reginald...even if some of these people came from disagreeable races he didn't have any reason to want to see any of them eaten by the ooze at this time!

Landon looks away at Reginald's words. The thought had crossed his mind. If the ooze goes for them, it will indeed be a matter of who lands closest, and who swims the slowest. His eyes pass over the group and land on the small myconid. He can't imagine Stool being very mobile in the water. Someone would need to carry it, or swim with Stool tied to them by a rope. Landon isn't sure he has the strength to do it. Derendil certainly has the strength, but Landon can't think of a way to suggest it without looking like he's trying to slow the quaggoth down. Landon lets out a sigh, he can't leave the mushroom sprout to its own fate in the dark waters of the cavern lake, He didn't ask to be here, just like the rest of us. Maybe Reginald is right. Maybe the ooze will be inactive so soon after feeding.

Keep... keep an eye out for rope during the escape. I'll uh, I'll need it to secure Stool to me before we jump to the lake. Landon tries to sound confident, but as he hears his own words they sound like a death sentence. He clears his throat, While we're on the subject, was anyone able to grab anything before we were brought back?

And we need to think of where we're going once we get to the cavern floor. What is the best route to take? He looks to the veteran captives, who are more familiar with the Underdark than the rest of the group.

Was glad to hear that Bupiddo had managed to snag a knife as well. What more he was especially excited that they had spell casting among them. Once out of this infernal dampening field or whatever it was it would be a lot easier to escape under the power of spells even if minor ones.

"Well I guess that's fairly settled, as far as getting out of here is concerned. If you can't cast spells protect those who can, move as a unit get better arms then into the drink we go and hopefully we all make it to the west passage and we can make for the darklake. From there we can decide if we're going to go our different ways I suppose but staying together up until there seems prudent to me."

A few hours pass after the last conversation on where to go. Everyone begins to get slightly hungry and with that indication they see Jorlan walking across the rope bridge carrying a bunch of bowls. The same old glop it seems. Looks like they wont be sharing anything Reginald made or at least to most of you the aroma you smelled coming from the dining hall when passing it...

"Ahh here we go, time to eat." He begins to whisper "Unfortunately I couldn't get anything good to eat for you all but I stand true to my word of unlocking the door." He sets the bowls down next to the iron door and pulls out his keys. He looks through them trying to find the one to the door, "You all will have a few minutes to eat before I go talk to the guards so be sure to hu..." Jorlan's words are interrupted by a loud horrible droning buzz echoing through the cavern! Jorlans gaze turns to his right as what soon follows the buzzing is an inhuman shrieking. In his rushed state Jorlan drops the keys to his feet as he draws his sword. Jorlan curses under his breath and glances back "This is not my doing, fight or run if you wish." and with that he turns around, running across the bridge and to the tower and out of sight.

Alarm horns go off adding more noise to the already excited cavern. Amongst that all that can be heard now are the drow shouting, a horrible buzzing noise and the occasional eerie screeches echoing throughout the cavern. There seems to be a battle going on outside and the keys to the iron gate lie in front of the door. Just within reach....

Reflexively, Dakva jumped up, tripped over her feet, and crashed into the wall. She reached through the gate, grabbed the keys, picked one randomly and pushed it into the lock.

"I d-don't like t-the sound of t-that... but it w-will be a d-diversion. We s-should go now."

Assuming that there are multiple keys on the keyring (which seems to be the case), and that the lock is accessible from inside the cell.

'I can't believe I'm about to suggest this, but maybe we should help the drow?' Barakas says slowly in common, glancing hopefully at Jimjar to translate. 'I can't imagine whoever is attacking is going to be our friend but if we can push them back we won't have to worry about them. The drow might be grateful, though I admit that's a long shot. Even if they aren't though, once we are free and able to use are magic the odds will be in our favour.'

Landon's eyes go wide, Jorlan! Jorlan! The drow vanishes out of sight.

Landon looks at the tiefling, his heart racing at the commotion. Let the drow deal with whatever is happening, we need to escape! Everyone grab your things. Derendil, can you tie Stool to my back please? he asks, handing the rope Dakva gave him to the quaggoth and motioning for Stool to come over.

Saw Jorlan coming, as he had been staring in that direction for hours. Whenever he wasn't speaking to his comrades in the cell of course. Now he nearly stood up in excitement, knowing their time had come. When the alarms sounded he put his hands to his ears, never having heard such a racket before. He groaned a little and looked up at Jorlan, seeing him bolt away and leave the keys.

"Well isn't that interesting. Seems like these Drow have more enemies than we thought. Well, let's get to that store of gear and get out of here!"

He stood quickly and grabbed his knife from where he had hidden it and tested the weight. He wouldn't be cutting mushrooms this time. Hopefully he'd be able to get something better from the stash Jorlan had told them about. He got near the door and waited for Dakva to get the door open so he could cover the spell casters on their way.

Glim is happy they finally get something to eat. He'd grown remarkably less picky after he'd become a prisoner. Glim flinches when he hears the shrieks.

"The drow said this isn't the diversion he was planning... Well, I suppose that works in our favour", Glim says. "I don't know who is attacking, they might be allies as well. However, I think our best chance is to just leave this place behind. I wouldn't trust my fate on the gratitude of our captors"

Glim gets out of the cell, staying behind the bigger folk. He recounts the spells he knows that would help in combat. Luckily, he does know a couple evocation spells, though he hadn't used them on living targets before. "<Gnomish> Just like training, it will be fine, it will be fine..." Glim mutters nervously to himself.

Dakva steps out into the little open area in front of the bridge and produces some flames. It seems outside the room magic is free to use. Looking around is a bit difficult as there is very minimal light. To the right she finds stairs leading downwards into very dimly lit darkness and to her left she can just make out the other bridge that leads away from the guard tower straight ahead.

Peering across the bridge and into the guard tower she doesn't see anyone manning it. Looking like the coast is clear.

Landon follows Dakva out, peering to the right and down the stairs, That's where the quaggoth stay. We have to hurry. If any are still there surely they'll be coming out at the sound of this commotion. He looks left, It's toward the attackers, but I think it's our only option. Let's go! He runs across the bridge and into the guard tower, hand stretched before him ready to unleash his newly acquired powers.

Landon and Reginald both run up into the guard tower while the rest of the group begins filing out into the clearing in front of the pen as well as the rope bridge.

Upon entering the two find as before a zurkhwood table and three chair, a smaller side table, and a spider-silk webbing set with hooks for handing equipment. There is a ladder on the far wall leading up. As other begin filing into the room Landon and Reginald climb up the ladder to see what may be up there.

Once inside they find a well fitted armory. There are stands lining the walls full of weapons and armor. As well as a few bags with little miscellaneous items. Everything is easily lootable but time is also of the essence.

6 Chain Shirts
6 Suits of Studded Leather Armor
6 Shields
6 Hand Crossbows
20 cases of hand crossbow bolts, each case contains 20 bolts
6 Short Swords
10 Daggers
6 Bags of Caltrops (20 Caltrops per bag)
4 100-foot-long coils of Silk Rope
2 building hammers (not usable as weapons)
2 bags of iron spikes (10 spikes per bag)
A small leather bound book with different spells inscribed into it

I'm giving you the base description of these trinkets and then at another time you can attempt to determine what they truly are. Ignore the numbers next to it. That is for me to refer back to.
Trinkets:
1. A small book written in elvish.
2. A vest with numerous tiny pockets inside.
3. An extremely detailed and well done sketch of Illvara Mizzrym, Obviously done by someone who is infatuated with her.

4. An old ornate key
5. A nightcap
7. A jar containing a weird floating pinkish tadpole like creature
10. A tiny glob of silverfish goo in a small jar.

Dakva follows Landon and Reginald up the ladder. After momentarily scanning the armory, she picked up two daggers, a coil of silk rope, and the small book. As they move to the guard tower, Glim casts several spells to fix and clean his tattered robes, though not even magic can undo the many days of captivity.

In the guard tower, Glim eagerly pockets the spell book. He glances at the daggers. "Oh, I suppose I'll take one as well...". Glim could use one, if he really needed, but he hoped he could now rely on his magic.

"This key could be useful, should we find the proper lock for it". After moment's consideration, Glim also takes the jar with the tadpole creature. He'd come to Underdark to research after all.

Landon looks around the armory and is immediately captivated by a sketch of Ilvara, ... Jorlan? The sounds of Dakva and Glim scrambling up behind Reginald pull his attention to the others, and he lets the sketch fall back to the table. Dakva starts donning one of the suits of studded leather. Landon nods, It doesn't make sense for everyone to scramble up here. We're sitting ducks, and it will take time we don't have. He positions himself back by the ladder, Derendil! he whispers down, Derendil! I'm going to start tossing equipment down. Catch it and have the others divide it among themselves! Use whatever you can and take whatever we'll need! Moving through the armory, Landon notices Glim admiring an illithid tadpole in a jar, Glim! he hisses, Be careful with that! It is a mind flayer tadpole. It can kill you. Don't... just don't take it out of that jar. He reaches for some weapons to hand down, Actually, if you're not donning any armor, let me put some on while you throw equipment to the others.

Landon throws on a suit of Studded Leather as well and keeps a dagger.

Jackpot. Scanning the things he immediately grabbed up a belt and cinched it around his waist so he had a place for the twin short swords he picked up next. After he grabbed a chain shirt and began to put it on, taking the time to make sure it fit right (1 Round, same as Studded Leather). After he was done getting himself protected he slung one of the ropes at an angle around him almost like a bandolier, knowing they might need it so he wanted it at the ready. As he got himself properly armed and armored he heard Landon giving the orders to drop more gear down and hoped they could get most of this stuff tucked away. Who knows what of it they might need and when they might get a chance to get more gear.

Once everything was settled he turned and nodded to the group.

Back in the cell, before Landon left, Derendil glanced at the rope and then just swung Stool on his back holding him in place with one hand. He looks to Landon "Carry on ahead, I got the little guy."

Reginald and Landon lead the charge into the guard tower as the rest of the group followed suit. The guard tower could not fit everyone so some had to stay behind on the bridge. Dakva and Glim push past into the guard tower and up into the armory to quickly apprehend and prepare for escape. Barakas stays behind on the first rope bridge with Eldeth, Shuushar and Buppido while Topsy, Turvy, Stool,Derendil and Sarith stay behind in the guard tower below. Jimjar see's the commotion above and not wanting to be left out he starts to climb the ladder as well.

Use whatever you can and take whatever we'll need!" He is quickly interrupted though by Jimjar climbing up and popping his head in to see what the commotion is about "Everyone's rushing up what did we find?" He exclaims!

All the commotion leaves the group below a bit vulnerable and no one notices the drow heading closer across the other rope bridge leading out. Before anyone can realize what is going on an crossbow bolt slams into Turvys back, he collapses on the floor convulsing while Derendil exclaims up to the group in the armory "WHAT ARE YOU DOING UP THERE WE ARE UNDER ATTACK!"

Topsy screams in horror as her brother is dropped to the floor. She begins to growl harshly at the drow loading a bolt to prepare another shot. Hair begins growing all over he skin and she begins to transform into something more vicious than her little self. She is more rat like and lashes out towards the drow on the bridge. They both struggle for a moment before losing footing and tumbling over the edge of the bridge. As Topsy reaches out to grab the bridge one of her claws accidentally slices the rope lining the left hand side of the bridge, closest to the waterfall, causing it to sway and lose form. Her and the drow both fall down to the pool below, just narrowly missing the webbing.

The bridge, still intact, is likely very unstable and will require some careful maneuvers to traverse across and not fall. On the other side of the bridge no other drow can be seen and it looks like the coast is clear to anyone who pops down from the armory and looks.

Crossing the bridge will require a DC 14 acrobatics check to not fall off

Just as quickly as the struggle started, it sounds like it ends. He hears Barakas call out what happened, and it sounds like there was only one drow that noticed them. Reginald rushes down the ladder and Landon hears the group speaking in hushed tones. He stands for a moment waiting, but it sounds like the threat is over. He begins grabbing the remainder of the items he think may be of use. At the top of the ladder, he calls to Derendil, I'm dropping these down for Eldeth. I think she may be able to use them. He drops a chain shirt, a shield, and a short sword down to Derendil. Tell the others to come near the ladder and hurry, we need to leave. There are small crossbows and more armor and swords up here. Dakva gasped as the plank began to slide but fortunately Reginald had safely crossed the bridge. She suddenly got an idea and grabbed one of her daggers and the rope. Cutting her rope down to size, she tied one end of the newly-cut piece to anything that looked like it might stay put and the other end to her dagger.
"R-Reginald, catch!"

The map looks like the bridge is about 10 feet long, which should be easily cut from a 100-foot rope.

He looked at the swaying damaged bridge and groaned a bit, putting Turvy down for the moment he nodded to Dakva. When the dagger came across he let it hit the platform near him and then grabbed it, quickly tying off to the strongest hold he could find. When Glim fell he muttered a curse under his breath and quickly moved to the edge to look down and see if the little guy had hit the webs or if he had gone all the way down to the water.

While Dakva begins to tie some rope to the bridge posts Glim tries his hand at the bridge. He takes a few steps onto the swaying bridge and barely makes it off of the cliff side before a plank comes loose from beneath him and slides completely out. Unable to react in time Glim begins his decent down but not far. He lands softly into the sticky webbing and is initially safe. After a few moments though a low chittering noise is heard by the gnome coming from either sides of him... Nothing comes into view yet but it is clearly the creature that made these webs.

Ok so the webbing is difficult terrain and you need to make a Dex saving through each "turn" in order to not be restrained by it. So now that you landed it i'll need a dex save before you do anything.

If you succeed then difficult terrain, if fail then you need to make a strength check to break free.

As a reminder -

A restrained creature's speed becomes 0, and it can't benefit from any bonus to its speed.

Stool begins to shake in fear for Glim and wants to somehow help his friend. JimJar calls down "Use your dagger or fire to break free! We'll meet you in the water!" He then goes to the bridge to cross it after Dakva and Reginald made some alterations it seems a tad bit safer.

Bridge DC to cross is dropped back down to 14 thanks to quick rope assist with Dakva and Reginald.

Alas the bridge proves just too difficult for him and Jimjar descends down onto the webbing a few feet from Glim.

Upon seeing Glim's currently dire situation and then seeing Jimjar suffer a similar mishap he shook his head and shrugged the rope off that he had taken from the guard tower. He was reminded of a lesson that Bartlet had always instilled in him. Not just having the right tools for a job but WHY you might need them. He muttered under his breath. "What are you going to need the stupid rope for?", like he would have when he was younger, mocking the need for such lessons. As he tied it tight around his waist and checked to make sure he had anchored it properly he turned and called down to them.

"Get close as you can to me I'm coming down!"

He waited to see if they could move, readying himself to leap down to try and help them back up to the ledge. Hopefully if they could get to where he would land they could all crawl back up.

Reginald is at the edge, hoping his knots will hold and ready to leap down and try and give them a way back up. Since the last post said that only the Gnome heard the "spider like noises" I assume Reginald has no idea monsters are coming. He's paying attention though and if he sees something dangerous He would only change his plan slightly.

If he sees Spiders of some sort he plans to draw his weapons and drop onto one of them and try and skewer it, hopefully clearing the path to the rope for the two that have fallen.

Just wanted to give you a heads up, and he's not really discussing this with anyone so he probably won't be talked out of this plan unless someone does something quickly that helps the people in the web.

So in all, I'm wondering the logistics of this. Do I need to make any rolls for securing the ropes? Also if it comes to leaping down on the spider I'd need some clarification on whether I could use both weapons, does it count as a sort of charge, etc.

Indeed, the bridge hadn't been very safe to cross. Glim tries to move safely and not get tangled into the web. He did not look forward into meeting the creator of this trap.

Managing not to get tangled into the web, Glim gets his dagger out to cut any webbing that could get him more tangled. He also makes way towards Reginald. "Please hurry", Glim says to Reginald. "I believe there is someone else down here"

Dakva pulled her rope back and coiled it up again after seeing Reginald begin to descend, knowing he would have a better chance at rescuing Glim and Jimjar. She willed a ball of fire into existence around her right hand and searched the darkness below the web for any signs of a struggle, listening intently.

Landon curses and grabs the remainder of the coiled rope and whatever else he can holster onto his shoulders before making his way down the ladder. Downstairs, the escape had not gone according to plan. Across the bridge was an unconscious Turvy, and Reginald descending toward the webbing, where Landon's eyes track down to see Glim and Jimjar stuck. He mutters another curse and immediately scans around looking for the inevitable drow patrol or quaggoth enforcers. Nothing yet. We can't stand here waiting for Reginald to get the others free, we need to start moving everyone else across now. He looks suspiciously at the damaged bridge, Fortune favors the bold...

Also, a combination of Mage Hand + Mending should repair the sliced rope I think, stabilizing the bridge. (Mage Hand is if we can't reach the part of the rope that got severed.) Anyone have Mending? We can fix the bridge and get everyone across no problem.

As Reginald begins tying his knot Landon starts to cross. Dakva lights up the area around her with a strong blaze from her hand. Glim doesn't get caught in the webbing and begins cutting some around him as Jimjar falls as well. He gets stuck in the webbing and calls out to Glim to help him get out of this damn web!

As Landon reaches the other side Reginald jumps down to the webbing, clearing 8 feet and landing about 3 feet from Glim. Unfortunately the extra weight from him dropping down near the cut strands begins to break the webbed area around them all. A rift breaks in the webbing where Glim was cutting and Reginald lands, Glim, Reginald and Jimjar are all swept into it though and need to hold on to the web or else suffer falling down into the water below.

Jimjar is already attached to the webbing due to getting stuck but his body weight helps free him as he is pulled downwards. He grabs the webbing to prevent falling further.

The group in the tower are too awestruck by what is occurring before them to continue heading across the bridge.

Ok so couple things!
Reginald, DC 10 survival check to have a properly tied knot that would hold you guys.
Reginald, Glim and Jimjar all need to roll Dex (DC 12) saves to grab the web and not fall into the lake below. Or you can just fall if you'd like...
Reginald your falling is contingent on how your survival check goes. If you fail then yeah you would fall into the lake if you also failed dex check. If you pass then you wont fall no matter what. Not sure how Reginald would react I guess. If he fails the survival check he obviously isn't aware and if the rope comes off then his Dex DC to catch the webbing is done at a disadvantage due to a slower response...
Hope that all wasn't too confusing...

Watched as the webs began to tear and gripped his rope tight, looking out at Glim and Jimjar with a grim expression.

"It's tearing! Get here if you can!"

For now he just kept his arm out stretched as far as he could, in case one of them wanted to try and reach him. Seeing how precarious the web was where they are...he hoped neither of them fell!

Passed my knot tying (rolls in ooc thread) so I posted as if I had grabbed the rope and not "fallen" down any further than the 8 feet. So I understand now there is a growing gulf between Reginald and Glim/Jimjar?

Might have to try and swing over to them and grab one of them if they hold on.

Unable to reach Reginald and with the tear growing wider Glim would have to jump in an attempt to reach him. Jimjar continues to struggle to break free and finally gets out of the grip from the webbing. He heads close to Glim but not getting to close too the edge of the webbing that is tearing. "Glim, what are we going to do.. I hear noises down here..!?"

As the commotion continues more and more chittering can be heard by Reginald, Glim and Jimjar. It begins to get so loud that Dakva and those closer to the bridge can hear it....

Sarith who has been quiet watching the scene unfolding leans over to Landon, "That lake looked rather large when we saw it and I believe we walked in this direction when down on the ground floor. I think it is completely beneath us.. We should just jump here now that the webbing is gone...." He gazes out towards the fighting.. "Guys I don't know how long this fighting will continue and we really need to get out of here before it ends. They will come for us without a doubt so the sooner we get to one of those tunnels the sooner we can gain some distance between us and them.."

Glim would need to jump to reach Reginald and would have to roll an athletics with disadvantage due to the lack of stability and stickiness of the webbing.

The urgency of the escape, of Glim and Jimjar stuck in the webbing, of losing Topsy and Turvy, and the fighting throughout the outpost all work to shift Landon's perspective. Sarith was right, the group needed to escape through the tunnels and fast, the gray ooze be damned.

Was about to consider whether Sarith could remember the cave well enough to make the distinction that a drop from this height would land them in the lake when he watched his comrades begin to jump. He felt his eyes go wide and then as they went one after another he let out a deep throated laugh, before letting out an exclamation.

"Brass balls! Well, better not let them have all the fun!"

Shifting his weight he swung out on the rope a bit and made sure he was above the opening int he web before he untied the rope around his waist and slipped after them into the darkness.

One by one each creature steps off into the dark abyss below them, praying or hoping that they will survive. Truly a courageous act to jump and yet every single person did it. As you each descend further the bellowing and clanging noise of combat from above drifts away. This is quickly replaced with multiple crashes as everyone begins to plummet into the water. All this time it has been a comfortable temperature in the cells and generally decent. All that is immediately snatched away as the icy chill of water envelops you all. It is a rude awaking to the situation you are in but after a few seconds you acclimate to it. Luckily everyone is able to get their bearings straight under the pitch black water and rise to the surface safely. But are you alone...? After a few more seconds of wading in the water in an attempt to find shore a louder more monstrous splash is heard, just briefly those who can see in the dark witness a large eight legged creature plummet into the water and quickly rise out it's back end first. Those who look closely enough notice the glimmering thin grey web attached to its abdomen.... It hangs above the water looking for whatever prey it may be able to snatch up before they all get away.

Now, where was that shore again?

Ok so Dakva and Reginald are completely blind at the moment, fortunately you were able to find your way to the surface but besides that you can't see a thing, just hear the noises around you.

Landon, Glim and Barakas you all were able to see what was around you and could easily find your way to the surface. You saw the spider leap down after you all and is now dangling above.
You three notice the shore behind you about 15-20 feet away.

Buppido, Derendil, Jimjar, Sarith, Shuushar, Stool(who is tied to Derendil) notice this as well.

Eldeth is as blind as Dakva and Reginald.

Turvey i'm assuming was brought down by Landon.... I'm going to go with that cause I know we all kinda forgot his was lying there on the other side of the bridge, yes I forgot too haha, but I'm assuming Landon would have snagged him and went down. If he didn't that's fine just let me know and he'll be up there with the drow, probably tortured every day until he tells the whereabouts of you all... just saying. But yeah whatever Landon wants for his fate is fine ;)

One stomach tighting moment of falling through space, a prayer to Tymora on his lips and then the shock of actually hitting the water. It was almost too much for the young thiefling. Mercifully he could see the shore and started paddling in that direction.

The seconds falling through the cavern stretch on for an eternity until suddenly, Landon hits the surface of the lake and the air is knocked from his lungs. He loses a hold of Turvy, but scrambles for the surface. Hacking and desperately sucking for air, he manages to regain his breath, and takes a long pull before going back under and grabbing Turvy's drifting form. He pulls the deep gnome up with him, surrounded by the sounds of the others falling in around him. Some can't see, and Barakas calls to them to follow his voice. Landon tries to direct them as they orient themselves in the water, and he himself lays on his back and begins to paddle toward the shore, doing his best to keep Turvy above the water. It is then that he sees the monstrous spider pursue them to the lake's surface, bobbing above them on a string of webbing, looking to pluck someone back up toward the bridge. Landon calls out in both Common and Undercommon, A spider has followed us down! Try to swim underwater, it's looking to pick us off from the surface! He raises one arm in the air, the palm of his hand facing the spider, wondering if he could destroy it's silk strand and cause the spider to drown in the lake.

Found the sensation of falling into complete darkness interesting. Also slightly exhilarating with a small dash of terrifying. Perfect. When his feet hit the water he sucked in a quick breath and came back up to utter darkness. He stayed oriented the way he was and when he heard Landon's voice he did his best to turn that way and follow. Hearing about the spider he gritted his teeth and just kept on. No sense in freaking out about it if they could get onto dry land they could probably deal with it. This was what he was supposed to be getting used to when he had entered this damn place. The darkness. If he couldn't make his way to the shore with the help of guiding voices he'd feel a bit like a failure!

So are there rolls the blind people should make to follow the voices? My first thought is perception but I'll wait till I get the word to make any rolls.

There! Landon shouts at Reginald, Turn a little more. The way you are facing, swim forward to the shore! He does the same for the others that can't see in the dark. They aren't far from land, twenty feet at the most. If they can swim blindly just a little bit, they will feel the ground beneath their feet in no time. The spider is what has Landon's attention at the moment. He takes aim, and summons the power he had accepted as part of a dark bargain forced on him by the mind flayers. He tries to steady his arm as best he can, but swimming on his back with Turvy in tow makes it difficult. A beam of energy lances forward toward the spider but goes wide, vanishing into the darkness above. Landon keeps paddling backward toward the shore, summoning the energy for another blast.

The spider continues to hover above at the same time Dakva lights the surrounding area with a dim glow allowing everyone to see. Just in time actually as the combined glow allows everyone to witness small boulders tumbling downwards towards them. The largest lands a heavy blow on the spider and sends it crashing into the water while other smaller rocks splash into the water around it and around everyone.

With the added light and the apparent threat of the spider no longer an immediate concern everyone makes it to the shore safely. Turning back to the lake everyone just escaped from you all witness the spider rise to the surface and struggle to gain any sort of traction. It tumbles about before something large and gray rises out of the water. An ooze envelopes the spider and as it struggles like a fly in a web. Felt absolutely cold. The terrible sloshing water was far worse than he had imagined but after the initial shock he gathered his wits and did his best to turn the way Landon was shouting. It was terribly difficult with all the noise around him and he thought he'd just start in the direction he felt was correct.

Unfortunately he was wrong. However, he was saved by Dakva casting Faerie Fire. The light sprung up around him (Whether or not he made his save at this point being irrelevant since others were not lit up for him to follow) and he quickly turned in place and cursed his inability to see in the dark. He would have to work on that much further. He took a deep breath and plunged forward for the shore, making it up just in time to turn and suck in a deep breath as he heard the commotion from the water and the spider.

"Well. That seems to have worked out. That was the spider you talked about getting eaten right? Not one of our companions?"

He peered out at the now still lake, barely able to see any out into the water given how dim the light was. Then he remembered they were all basically walking light sources.

"Let's get out of here. We're going to have to extinguish this light eventually, unfortunately for we who can't see in the dark but...better being lead stumbling than being a beacon in the darkness for anyone to find!"

Landon instinctively squints at Dakva's faerie fire, and continues to paddle backward toward the shore. He goes to take aim at the spider again but something occurs above and stones come crashing down on the arachnid, sending it flailing into the water. He sees the others wading onto the shore and drops his legs to feel the ground beneath him. He keeps walking, dragging Turvy's form above the water until he is with the others on the beach. The spider, still struggling on the surface of the water, is suddenly devoured by the ooze before the water goes still yet again. Landon's heart skips a beat; with everything happening, he had forgotten about the ooze in the lake. This is the second time he has seen it feed, and he was just in those waters struggling to get to shore. He drops to the floor, unceremoniously dumping Turvy onto the ground, trying to catch his breath. He checks the gnome to see if he is still breathing and his heart is beating, then stands and begins to get a count. Everyone seems accounted for, minus Topsy. Is everyone well enough then? Landon asks the group.

Well. That seems to have worked out. That was the spider you talked about getting eaten right? Not one of our companions? Reginald asks.

Aye. The spider, and the ooze.

Let's get out of here. We're going to have to extinguish this light eventually, unfortunately for we who can't see in the dark but...better being lead stumbling than being a beacon in the darkness for anyone to find!

Landon thinks on this, Perhaps sooner than later. He looks to the others, Which direction are we going in? We need to decide quickly. And I think we should put the light out now, make our way into the tunnel for some distance, then use the light to open up the gap between us and the drow. If we keep it on now, they'll know exactly where we are and which way we went, he says, looking back up toward the bridge.

He looks to the south when Sarith indicates the way to the grove, and notices what looks to be a corpse just at the edge of the lake shore, Hang on, Landon says, quickly striding over and turning the body over.

Landon turns over the body to find a dead Elite Drow lying on the floor in a pool of his own blood. He has a few claw marks in his armor and his face has been crushed in beyond recognition. He looks to have a few items on him, aside from his noticeably damaged armor.

Landon, crouched over the body of the drow warrior, runs his fingers over the gouges in its armor, This looks to be the guard that attacked you above. He takes whatever the group can make use of from the body and then stands, looking around, Does anyone see signs of Topsy anywhere? Rummaging through the drow's items Landon is able to find a pouch full of different components, most likely for spells, a short sword still in it's sheath and 5 unbroken crossbow bolts dripping with a substance.

Sarith turns to the group, "The tunnel to the north of us leads to Menzoberranzan. That is where they were originally taking us and if you all want to walk into a suicide trap then be my guest. Over to the westish," He points to the darkness that breaks in the wall over to the western edge of your sight, "leads to Sloobludop and the Dark Lake. That is the closest way town we could get some supplies in." Shuushar nods his head in agreement. Sarith continues "I personally would like to go to see this never light grove that Stool speaks of, it seems like a safe haven for most here who are not welcome in the Underdark..." He pauses before continuing "There is a tunnel to the south but we would have to pass right under the fighting to get to it.. not the safest bet. So whats the plan?"

Eldeth chimes in that she would rather the quickest route out of here. Some of the others nod and agree that time is of he essence.

For anyone with darkvision looking around you notice a medium sized body not far from the lake edge about 20 feet away towards the south.

Dakva felt sick again at the thought that Topsy might have gone the way of the spider.

Stayed with the group while they went to check out the body. He already had what he could use, and had taken the small amount of rope that he had kept after cutting away the bulk of it and looped it together and tucked it away in case in might come of some use. His arms rested comfortably across the hilts of the pair of short swords he had taken from the armory, at least glad to be armed and armored, even if wet.

"I think returning Stool to his people is something we should definitely accomplish but at this time it would seem that making our way to the Darklake and then on to Slutbooldorp(Mispronunciation for the win!) and see if we can't get ourselves better geared for that particular foray."

Landon sighs. He didn't have much attachment to Topsy or her brother, they mostly kept to themselves. But still, for some reason he quite can't explain, he had been hoping everyone would make it out of the outpost. Perhaps it was the fact that they were all victim's of the drow's slavery, and that equalized them all to some degree in his eyes. He looks back up toward the outpost proper, Let's go he says, running toward the tunnel that will lead them to Dark Lake.

With Topsy nowhere in sight the group continues on towards the exit they so desperately sought. Landon leads the charge as the rest follow behind him. The exit is nearing but the group is stopped in their tracks as a large creature comes tumbling down from the sky and lands right in front of the exit, blocking everyone's path to freedom. The creature is almost like a vulture but seems as though it is a twisted version from the abyss itself. It has a long slender neck and large feathered wings, although the rest of it's body is smooth and hairy in parts. The creature screeches at you with its beaked face and raises it's clawed arms. You press onwards to the gash in the cavern wall. As you continue forward, leaving the echoing sounds of combat behind in the vast cavern you find yourself pressed into a tighter formation. For the first time for some of you and for the first time since others have come to the Underdark the claustrophobic that accompanies caves once again returns. The tunnel you enter swallows you up as you rush inside. The group must figure out how best to maneuver as now they can only travel two abreast. For some this will be difficult though as once you pass into the tunnel the light that Dakva casts fades to a soft glow before ultimately going out.

You have successfully escaped the clutches of the Drow. Although, whether you are truly safer or not is yet to be determined.....

The echoes of combat that was the last shred of familiarity the party had slowly begins to fade away as they descend further into the darkness. Sarith leads the charge with Derendil. Sarith has been casting Dancing Lights until a more reliable light source could be found for those that can't see. He is not that happy about it as he would prefer to be in the dark but he does it for the groups survival. He reminds the group that it should take about eight days to reach the Kuo-Toa village as long as they don't get lost. They'll need to forage along the way and figure out how best to travel.

The party continues on for a while without interruption until they come across a large clearing. As the group gets closer Stool releases his telepathic spores to the group in order to let them converse with ease. It is dimly lit by some sort of magical energy. Upon seeing the lighting Sarith utters the word "faerzress." He describes it as an unusual magical energy that pervades much of the underdark. The origin is a mystery to him and his people although he tells of a legend that claims the energy is an ancient elven magic dating back to the time when the dark elves were first exiled from the world above. As the group file into clearing they see an eerie cavern littered with countless bones of various creatures. There is a Tiefling looking around at the bones picking through it, he reacts when he notices you all begin to file into the boneyard. Both the group and him are now at a deadlock, meeting for the first time another creature in the Underdark since escaping.

Alrighty then,
So if it wasn't clear that was Lio's character that they party runs into so go ahead and roleplay that.
Secondly I want to give you guys a list on info on what is to come. As you all travel throughout the Underdark there will be a few things to consider and choices you will all need to make. I also want to give you guys the format of how each day will take place. Normally I wouldn't but since this is PBP that makes it a bit more difficult to run the adventure in a natural way.
So first things for these next 8 days and further on in the adventure we will look at each day as parts.
To start the day the navigator will be required to make a survival check in order to continue on the right path and not get lost (also after the party continues on again after stopping, for example short rest or encounters) This is normally a DC 10 but that can be altered based on what pace the party is traveling at.
You have three different Underdark paces to travel at.

Pace
Miles Per Day
Effect

Fast
8
-5 penalty to passive perception scores; No foraging

Normal
6
-

Slow
4
Improved foraging, or able to use stealth

So that'll be up to you guys to determine. Keep in mind you are most likely being pursued by your Drow captives. Travel to Sloobludop takes 8 days at a normal pace.
In addition to not getting lost you guys will need to figure out who is doing the foraging as you travel. Again a DC survival check is required. Let me know when you guys want to attempt to forage as you travel throughout the day. Keep in mind that those foraging and those navigating will not notice threats to the group if they arise at those times.
As a reminder each character requires 1 pound of food and 1 gallon of water each day in order to survive as normal. Refer to page 185 of the PHB (Food and Water) for more detailed info on this and to avoid exhaustion levels.

There will be downtime as you travel each day (for example right now in the boneyard) and this is where you should refer to chapter 8 "Downtime Activities" in the PHB for crafting and etc. This area you all are currently in will be a good example for this as there are a lot of crafting resources out here.

There will also be random encounters and situations you will all face as the days go by. The day finally ends when you all decided on making camp.

So there will be a lot for you guys to figure out essentially and a lot of roleplaying on your part. I'll set the stage but really in this section of the adventure it's on you all to figure out how your day flows and to survive.

I may have forgotten one or two things but as it comes I'll mention it. Best of luck to you all, try not to die ;)

Reginald Collingsworth III

Was quite surprised that they kept the dancing lights up for that much time. He figured he'd be left to grab someone's coat tails and follow along in the dark simply for the stealth factors of it. He guessed it was more prudent to keep everyone alive, though. No sense in letting one of those like himself blunder off down some side passage and be lost for good.

When they came around the corner and into the lit sections he was fascinated by the ambient lights coming from the "Farbless" or whatever Sarith had called it. It seemed so strange, and certainly magical he would suspect. He had no idea if Sarith was correct but his story sounded plausible. When they came upon the clearing littered with so many bones he began to scan through them, looking at ribs and femurs and whole hands and the like.

Whatever had made this pile of bones had been diligent in it's work.

Making that revelation was about when he noticed the tielfing, seemingly looking for something among the bones. Whatever he was looking for, Reginald didn't want to find out. He nudged Landon and whispered

"Check that guy out over there. What the hell is his deal?"

Landon stops with the rest of the group as they enter a clearing littered with bones and spot a tiefling picking his way through the piles. Reginald nudges him, Check that guy out over there. What the hell is his deal? Landon unshoulders Turvy's still form, laying him on the ground. He takes a moment to catch his breath. Whatever power he gained in his bargain with the illithid's elder brain did little if anything to augment his own physical strength. The svirfneblin isn't particularly heavy, but Landon isn't very strong, and trekking through the treacherous Underdark with Turvy on his shoulders proves taxing.

Not sure, he replies to Reginald, Be wary. The tiefling reacts upon seeing the group, yelling something in a tongue unfamiliar to Landon. The half-elf puts up a placating hand and reaches out through telepathy, Who are you? We mean no harm unless you do.

Eyed the tiefling during the exchange, but didn't voice any major concerns. He seemed legitimate, and he was one among many so if he decided to try something funny they could probably take him by force of numbers. Unless he turned out to be some sort of demon in disguise or something. Though with the horns and the like he figured if this one wanted to hide his nature he might do a better job of it. You've also heard that magic can sometimes be effected in those areas but you aren't sure how.

Dakva walked over to Turvy and gave him a quick hug to try and comfort him before standing again. She entered the cavern behind the others and sat down with her back to a wall, first checking the nearby bone piles to make sure they were safe.
"We're resting here, then? she said through the spores.

She took the book out of her pocket and began to read it.

Turvy gets up, not looking at anyone in particular, and walks off into the bones to kinda kick around. Landon, Reginald, Dakva, Sarith and Eldeth look through the bones in an attempt to find anything.

Landon rummages through some bones still with cloth attached luckily he is able to find a bottle still intact. The liquid inside is separated into brown, silver and gray layers resembling bands of stone, any attempts to shake the bottle fails to mix the colors.

Sarith finds a long sword while digging through a jumbled mass of bones. He sends out a telepathic signal asking if anyone wants his short sword as he found a long sword and doesn't need the smaller one anymore. Jhaedys is unable to hear this though.

Dakva uncovers a jingling pouch buried underneath the bones of a humanoid shaped creature. She then sets down to flip through the book she found. The words are in elvish and detail what life is like in Menzoberranzon. It seems to be a diary of some sorts that belongs to a resident of the Drow city.

Eldeth is able to pick out a stronger club shaped bone. Not as handy as a hammer but there is potential there to make a nice mace out of it.

Reginald spends some time looking until he sees a slight glimmer underneath some bones, lifting the bones reveals a strange item. It resembles an arrow head only slightly larger and with areas cut out in specific shapes. It has a slight design etched into it as well as two blue gemstones set into its stone colored frame, one larger than the other. There is a white and black feather coming out of the item that can not be removed. There is an oldish rough look to it.

Sifted through the bones, figuring that not much must be here. At least it was a pile of old bones though and not a giant pile of monster leavings they were sifting through. When the slight glimmer caught his eye he thought it must be a truck of the faerzress but after removing several obstructing bones he hauled the triangular shaped object out of the pile.

Turning he moved out to a clear spot and sat down, examining the object further. He ran his hand over the feather and examined the markings further but it was nothing like he had seen before. Turning it over in his hands he called out telepathically, not remembering that their new companion might not be included in the spores telepathic bond.

(Telepathy)"Hey I found something crazy. Come take a look at this."

While the others were out there scavenging, Glim decided to finally get a good look at the spell book he'd found. The drow were at least good magicians if nothing else.

Glim raises his gaze from the book as he hears a voice in his head. It sounded like Reginald's. Glim walks over to look at what he had found.

"Now that does look interesting...", Glim says and glances at the object.

Jhaedys watches both the readers as they look up from what they are doing and then get up and walk over to where ... Reginald, was it? ... was examining a trinket he found. Interesting, I wonder if they all communicate by telepathy? He clears his throat and asks, "How long has this group travelled together that you all seem to know one another's thoughts?"

The Glim and Dakva walk over to examine what Reginald found. Unfortunately they can't really determine what it is but Glim is able to surmise that it is a token of some sort.

Eldeth telepathically tells Sarith that the new companion could use the short sword and if he doesn't want to take it over she will. They discuss briefly until Eldeth heads over, grabs the short sword from him and then brings it to Jhaedys. "Here, you look like you could use this" She smiles at the polite tiefling. She then explains of the spores Stool sends out and how the group can all speak telepathically using them. Next time he will be included.

He pauses and looks at Stool, almost as if noticing him/it for the first time. Making his way over to him he crouches next to him "That is quite the trick. It would be my honor to be able to communicate with you and the rest." He knows he is making an assumption about the odd little plant creature but then the world runs on assumptions.

Making his way over closer to Reginald he asks, "Would you allow me to take a look at that bauble, good sir?"

Knew even less than his companions concerning this odd artifact, if that was possible. He stroked the feather a bit, unsure what sort it even was. He looked up and saw that many of the other prisoners hadn't taken a look so he went first to Eldeth.

"Any idea what this thing might be? I've never seen anything like it up in the lighted world."

He let the dwarf take a look at it and looked about, wondering if any of the other underdark races might know.

"Sarith, Stool, Buppido, Jimjar, Shuushar, oh and Prince Derendil...any of you ever seen anything like this?"

He took it around to anyone who seemed less interested, and allowed any who wished to look at it further to do so.

Most of those questioned shake their heads not really knowing what the item is, although a slight smile creeps onto Jimjars face. In common and then telepathically Jimjar explains, "What you have there is one of Quaal's Feather Tokens. There are about 6 in total and each trinket are only usable once. I'm not familiar with all of them but this one, if I remember correctly, stops a boat in it's tracks making it immovable. "Strange thing. I'll hold onto it and maybe we can make some use of it at the darklake. I don't imagine there are many places you can find a boat around here but we do happen to be going to one."

Landon

Landon mostly just scans the area, trying to stay alert while spotting anything obvious that may help the group. He hasn't committed to sifting through the debris, when a glint of something catches his eye. He makes his way over a few more mounds of bone before spotting what looks like a bottle tucked under one of the piles. He tries his best to move the pile without making too much noise, with so many people a bottle of water wouldn't last very long. But every little bit might help the group stay alive that much longer. He clears enough of the bones away to stick his hand down into the pile and just grab the neck of the bottle with his fingertips. Gingerly, he gets a tenuous hold on it and slowly pulls it out. The bottle has some weight to it, but when Landon lifts it up to inspect the contents, it doesn't look like it is filled with water. Instead, the liquid within seems colored, though he can't tell what colors they are outside of Sarith's magic light, and separated into three different bands, like oil and water in a bottle. He gives the bottle a shake, but the liquids stay neatly apart. Landon frowns, Not sure what this is, but it isn't water.

Making his way back to the group, Landon takes a closer look at the colors underneath the dancing lights, wondering what the fluids might be. I found this in a pile over there, he says, pointing in the direction he had just come from. I thought it might be some water, but I'm not sure what it is. I don't think it's natural, he says, giving the bottle a shake to show everyone it's properties. In any event, we should try and find some food and water if we're stopping here a bit. Anyone here skilled at foraging? I will lend a hand in whatever way I can.

Turvy brushes himself off and gets to his feet. He attempts a smile of thanks towards Landon and the group before lining up towards the exit, ready to move on. Dakva takes one last glance around before moving on. The group lines up and sets back out into the dangerous Underdark. Sarith leads the way, quickly finding the right path towards their destination. Eldeth, Derendil and Shuushar forage for food while the group travels at a normal pace. They successful find a few different fungi usable for the group.

Eldeth and Derendil both locate some barrel stock. This is a large, cask-shaped fungus that can be tapped and drained of the fresh water stored within it. They yield a good amount of food but unfortunately not the most amount of water. Still it is a decent amount to be shared amongst some of the group.
Shuushar found 3 different Waterorbs and gives the non native Underdark party members a lesson on them. He explains that the Waterorb is a bulbous fungus that grows in shallow water. A mature Waterorb can be squeeze like a sponge, yielding a gallon of drinkable water and a pound of edible, if chewy and somewhat tasteless, food.

Unfortunately without any proper tools to hold the water it needed to be drunk on the spot. Although there really wasn't much to drink regardless.

Finally after what seems hours of travel the group finds a decent area to rest. It is a wider open offset from one of the tunnels you were traveling in. It is wide enough that most of the party can sleep without touching too much and defensible enough that you could get away with just one guard on watch duty. Everyone begins to look towards each other with nods of agreement. It's been a long "day" and you all could use some much needed rest. There may be potential for one or two to look around for food as well one last time here before getting some sleep.

*Edit*
Stool releases his spores to allow everyone to be able to speak freely to each other telepathically for an hour, his last use of the day.

Eldeth find of Barrel Stock - [roll0] pounds of food + [roll1] gallons of water.
Derendil find of Barrel Stock - [roll2] pounds of food + [roll3] gallons of water.
Shuushar find of 3 Waterorbs - 3 pounds of food and 3 gallons of water.

Total found while traveling -
Food: 17 pounds
Water: 13 gallons
14 mouths to feed. So someone didn't get any water or two people didn't get enough water for the day. Just a heads up. But we can agree that Jhaedys had his intake of water for the day prior to meeting up with you all. That solves the water problem. You will then have 3 pounds of food left over after everyone has had their fill for the required amount needed to avoid exhaustion. Or if you guys only want to have half a pound each and save some that is possible too. See those rules in the PHB.

You can almost feel the air quotes around the word evening in your heads. Sorry for all the questions, being the new guy here, how does this little guy operate? Does he speak? Incredible yield! Landon says to the others as they return with strange food called barrel stock and waterorbs. Shuushar demonstrates how to drink from the orbs, and Landon has his fill until he can barely breathe, I suppose running full tilt to save your life for hours on end might make one thirsty. He starts munching on the barrel stock, We should probably ration the food. Maybe for today we can fill our stomachs and get our reserves up for the days to come. But the less time we spend foraging for food and the more time we spend trying to get to Darklake, the better our chances I think. If we can make the food stretch, we should. He tries to finish his portion of the barrel stock, but he is already full on water, Yes, I may save this for tomorrow.

--------------------LATER-------------------

As the group begins to bed down for the rest of the day, some start volunteering for a shift of watch. Landon marvels at how well the group works together. When survival is on the line, it forces everyones' hands. Here, in the depths of the Underdark, cutting and running doesn't seem a viable option. Landon isn't sure he could really sleep comfortably out in the "open" down here, not knowing that there may be illithids out there searching for him, looking to take back the power the Elder Brain had invested in him. Could the creature sense where he was? Did it know he was captured, and has been waiting for a moment like this to act? Drow, demons, mind flayers. The sooner he was back on the surface, the better. Landon shakes the thoughts from his head, I don't mind taking second watch Derendil. Wake me when you're ready to sleep.

Was intrigued by the amount of water available from the carious fungi. The water tasted cold and much cleaner than he expected. He ate his portion of water and food, having been famished from missing the meager meal that they had been afforded as prisoners. He'd just have to get in on the foraging from now on, though with his limited vision he'd stick to aiding someone if he could.

On the subject of watch Reginald kept quiet for the most part. He couldn't much sit watch unable to see. He closed his eyes when Dakva asked which way was west, trying to focus and see if he could figure out such information, even with his limited senses. He was supposed to be learning this stuff.
