I may look into getting a guest artist for that time, I haven’t decided yet.

If Giant find a guest artist and after he is back I thought that guest artist can make a spin-off (maybe with other classes like druid, monk..) and we get more OOTSverse comics :D what you say?

just letting rich know if he wants, I would like to submit a strip or 2 for a few reasons. http://a908.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/85/l_dc5a5d65d146ed278b2129b0861c6fbb.jpg i actually did this little bugger last night, half asleep. i like him, and i think OOTS style would not be to bad. think about it and hope you get better soon.

ps, if someone can contact him for me, id be very happy

Excusa me, sirs and madames, but is this thread where one may display their guest-artisting credentials (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v366/Jukashi/KeychainComic1Done.gif)? :smallconfused:

Get the guy who draws Legendary (http://legendary.comicgenesis.com) to draw a guest comic. He conciencely chose to do a comic in OOTS style, he draws it well, and he is popular (somewhat).

You should get your own website to host that comic on. Maybe using Keenspot or Comicgenisis, though CG has fickle servers.

The spinoff comic idea would be interesting.

If we can find someone with a portion of the genius Rich has, if Rich let him make a comic in the same style and world (although I can't see another comic in the world without either problems or a lot of individual approval on the part of The Giant) and said artist can pull it off, I'd read it.

I'd like to see some guest strips done by Tom Siddell of Gunnerkrigg Court (http://www.gunnerkrigg.com). He's a good artist (though in a completely different style from OotS), he can write good plots that last forever, and his genre is a rather bizarre fantasy variation. On top of that, I would pay HUGE amounts of money to see Antimony & Reynardine meet the OotS. The only downside is that I don't think he's ever read the Order of the Stick.

I vote for Thunt (http://goblinscomic.com/).

Thunt is great, but he has enough trouble getting his own updates up. I really can't see him taking on a guest artist stint for OotS, which updates three times as often as he's been doing.

I'd be interested in taking a turn at the helm, and actually using the OotS style. I'd need to play about with it a bit before I offered a sample, but I'll give it a shot an post something if I think it's worth a damn.

Seems about the best of those that have offered. This a comic you hope to start?

Scarab83 I vote for Thunt.

Fine work, but what does it have in common with OOTS beyond some relationship with D&D?

I believe The Giant already has an idea of who to ask for a guest strip.

If he doesn't, however, i may offer myself to help... tho my style is definitely not stick-figure.

I've produced 6 of these so far, actually, and fully plan to continue. I have a place to host my website (I originally posted them on a forum, and the owner of said forum has kindly offered to host the comic as well), and I've designed the website. I just hate the actual technical side of making the damn things.

I'm sure he does.

But since a previous gap was filled by fan-art during 'Sprained Wrist Theatre', and several fans seem keen to offer their services, possibly Rich'll arrange something similar?

Yes we need someone with 20 int or higher and the style must be same :D

There are a lot of options Rich can use, but the one I'd like to see the most would be the ones from Dragon Magazine.

I'd also like to see the Five Foot Step comic he did for the RPGA be posted here.

Between those two bits of "Other Work," Rich would have a pretty good buffer of material for the days he doesn't feel so well. If nothing else, he could post those while he is taking his month or more off.

After that, it would be a battle for a lot of very talented artists and strip writers who would love to have all the eyeballs that read Rich's strip discover their strips! There is a very long list of webcomics in the webcomic forum, some GREAT, some good, some so-so, and some not so so-so.

While the quality of the upcoming guest comics is important, it is my priority that there are elves in it, or some of them. As such, I warn every one who makes or intends to make guest comics that if my demands are not met, I will bomb the litterbox of Mr. Scruffy with high explosieves and garlic. The elves shall rule!

ELFOLUTION!! Suck it, Darwin!

P.S.: Yes, this is a joke.

Absolutely nothing, really. I just think it would be interesting to see the OotS story depicted in a somewhat more graphic manner, just for a few strips.

I have to agree though, he wouldn't be anywhere close to punctual.

Not a major concern. Whether you go Terry & the Pirates or Miss Peach is no big deal. What is important is that this is comedy. Give us something to laugh at.

its serious to a point.. i had already made it that night when i saw the offer, so im like, what the hell, its not a bad drawing for paint and its good humor, might as well try. so yes its serious in that id like to draw for the guest comic. no, i would not be drawing a guest comic on a gangsta pikachu.

The OOTS guest artist will be Alex Ross and the writer then will be Joss Whedon. Course fans might like Frank Chos way of drawing women. Maybe there might be some Greg Horn fans. The real question is what might OOTS look if they were drawn by Larry Elmore tried picturing it since alot OOTS plots do remind me of certain other parties in many fiction stories.

Greetings. I've been a lurker for some time but I wanted to throw my hat in the ring for being a guest artist (if this is infact the place to do that). You can take a looks at some of my work here (http://www.home.earthlink.net/~wignke/pages/comics.html).
I also recently did some fan art which can be viewed here (http://www.drawingboard.org/blogs/uploads/w/wignke/1759.jpg).

I hate the idea of us trying to choose a guest artist. It's Rich's baby, and it has to go the way he wants. It's not for us call.

That said, if there is a guest artist, I think it's a mistake to choose based on how close the style is to the existing. As long as the characters are still recognisable then who cares? Look at the guest strips on diesel sweeties - no-one tries to copy the pixel nature.

That's probably why I like Wignke's fanart - it's clearly roy but it's not in traditional OOTS style...

I now have a mental image of Haley searching for traps (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0035.html) as drawn by Frank Cho. This puts me in my Happy Place.

That's really good. You've kept the basic stick figure idea while adding a stylistic flourish that is very distinctive. If the Giant wanted to pull a guest artist from the ranks of the fans, I think you'd be a candidate. The only questions remaining concern the strength of your writing and whether you could put together a multi-panel strip with that kind of quality three times a week.

Well, its quite a distinct and original art style. Although the chances of Rich randomly pulling some volunteers off the forum range from zero to nil, I would have no qualms with seeing a guest strip or 2 from you Wignke.

Very true, especially if he already knows other comic artists he trusts they would do a good job.

That said, i don't see any harm in volunteering.

Writing isn't a problem, I'm pretty sure. Most of the times a guest artist is working off of the directions of the original author. That's what seperates it from just a series of guest comics.

That's the feeling I got from it, anyway.

That might actually belong in board issues, but in previous cases Rich took artwork that was completed and submitted directly to him. So if you have an idea now would be a good time to work on it.
