We've all seen the threads where people don't fully get that MC sorcerer and wizard doesn't give high level slots, but what if there were a reason to do this MC? Well most of the higher level blast spells don't offer much of a damage increase if any, as compared to lower level spells up-cast. If you are willing to give up higher level spells in favor of being the best possible pure blaster you can.

Evoker 14/Draconic Sorcerer 6

Stats: 8, 8, 14, 15, 10, 15
Race: V Human bump, cha and int. Elemental Adept feat.

Levels 1-14 acts as a normal Evoker. Switch it over to sorcerer and pick up your "capstone" of adding cha (and int) to your damage spells. Sorcerer also allows you to get some metamagic on your wizard spells. You'll only get 4 ASIs, which'll be eaten up boosting both your int and cha to 20. Int first, keeping your core spells in your book, instead of sorcerer spells.

You miss out on the game-breaking 8th and 9th level spells, which just makes it easier on your DM, and in return get to blast that little bit better. A quickened AoE spell of your choice will do about 80 damage, and you can follow it up with a firebolt that'll do another 35ish. You can empower spells that are too high level for your overchannel.

It is not at all optimal, but there does exist a reason to try it. If you are using UA content, snab a level of undying light warlock for another +5 to damages, and ditch overchannel.

Nice thread title!

Anyway, blasting spells don't get much better after 5th level, so if you can find other classes that bring damage good for you. And even if blasting isn't a priority, any Sorcerer can benefit from stuff like Portent and Grim Harvest, as any Wizard can benefit from meta.

If you're using UA material to begin with, use the Theurge Wizard. Having the Tempest Cleric's Channel Divinity ability just decimates things. Max damage Chain Lightning? 80 damage to up to four targets of your choice. Lightning Bolt? 48 damage for a level 3 spell.

I played one last night, and there's an Open Hand Monk in the group. He'd run around the map with his immense speed, utilizing Stunning Strike to stun enemies. Stunned enemies automatically fail Dexterity Saving Throws. And he'd use Flurry of Blows to push enemies around the map, making nice, easy lines for Lightning Bolt.

For an alternate take, Sorcerer / Tempest Cleric / Assassin with the Alert feat. Hit an enemy that hasn't acted yet? Critical Hit, right? That's not restricted to weapon attacks. It works on spells. Like Chromatic Orb. At 5th level, that's 7d8, or 14d8 on a Crit. Or 112 when maxxed via Tempest's Channel Divinity. Then Twin it.
