How should one handle a monster with Regeneration, say a Troll with the die hard feat? Would the Troll essentially never fall over unconscious no matter how much damage it took(unless it was fire or acid) or should it fall unconscious once it reaches -10, or should it stay on its feat until its negative hit points reach a certain number where it is technically still alive, but no longer physically capable of fighting due to its body's injuries.

Diehard doesn't interact with nonlethal damage; it auto-stabilizes you and lets you retain consciousness if you're reduced to negative hit points. Nothing in the entire feat about nonlethal.

If your accrued nonlethal damage exceeds your current hit points, you fall unconscious. So, if the party doesn't have any fire or acid damage at their disposal then they deal nonlethal damage in excess of the troll's HP total and it gets KO'd, then they move on.

Erit has it right here. Nonlethal damage never decreases your hit point total, so it can never trigger Die Hard. You keep separate running tallies of your current hit points and nonlethal damage.

Diehard doesn't interact with nonlethal damage (and thus, by extension, Regeneration) in any way. Nonlethal damage doesn't reduce your hit points, so doing sheer nonlethal damage doesn't drop you into the negative, and thus doesn't trigger Diehard (or make you Dying).

So.....as normal. The troll is able to stay on it's feet a little longer when they finally figure out to use fire or acid, but it doesn't make it any mor resistant to being KOd due to being smacked with non-fire non-acid damage.

I didn't think about it that way. Thanks for the clarification.
