Hi!

A friend and I have created a web comic inspired by stuff kids say during D&D games. Here are a few of panels:

You can find the rest here (http://gwdbooks.com/category/dnd-kids/).

I liked it. Most of kids comments made me chuckle.
I like the smartass one. Also the Golem story.
The Alignment one made me laugh out loud.

It's a cute comic, I like it.

That kid with the amulet...he deserves to be revered by all.

Its pretty funny.

I liked the mindcontrol one.
„Quick, Slap me.” :slap:
„No, with your character.”:BAM:

:smallbiggrin:To be honest, I would have done the same. I mean, he asked for it.

I'm really happy to hear you guys are enjoying it. It's Thursday, so there is a new one (http://gwdbooks.com/2016/09/dnd-kids-the-gate/). It's all about what's behind door #2...

Adorable! And I agree, that "slap me" comic was very funny!

Eh, don't worry kids, the tentacle-guy is just a bit crancy because he didn't have his afternoon nap today.

I like it a lot, but I would also like some context about the stories.

I like it a lot, but I would also like some context about the stories.

My day job is running various RPG and board games as an after-school activity in schools and community centers. The comics are nearly verbatim quotes (translated of course) of stuff said by my players over the years. The stories are standalone and don't have to be read in any particular order, although we do plan to make some story arcs in the future. Hope this helps.

This is how it looks in real life in case you wondered...

Those kids are utterly absorbed in the game. You must be a heck of a DM!

That is one of the coolest jobs I have ever heard of. What group funds this?

One of my friend also do a similar thing in the US, some sort of after-school rpg in schools and community centers, and it's been running for a few years now, though apparently it stopped last year because not enough people or something, which is a shame.

I linked this to him, I thought he'll find it fun to have a comrade in arms.

And this comic itself is great, those kids are silly little psychopaths, which is expected of kids :smallamused:

That's not D&D.

My set of those mapsheets is probably twenty years older than those kids.

You are correct, this is not D&D, this is battletech.

What group funds this?

It differs from community to community, but as a rule it's funded by the parents and subsidized by the local council or community center.

New comic! Winter is almost here, so this week's story is about rain. (http://gwdbooks.com/2016/09/dd-kids-rain/)

Dungeon World is what you are looking for. It is really simple to both DM and play and gives you the DnD experience just much simpler.

I really like this comic.

Then you'd be happy to know a new comic (http://gwdbooks.com/2016/10/dnd-kids-marriage/) just came up! :)

"We had a mission?" That line sounds familiar...

The GTA one is great. And very true.

But that "return violence to the world" adventure sounds awesome. For a Evil campaign I mean.
On the other hand making violence impossible is a great final step to any world conquering plan...:smallamused:

Ouch. The one about wisdom was mean.
Very true, since he had to ask, but mean.
I approve.

Yeah, well, you know what they say about kids... :P

BTW, we started doing some color comics. What do you guys think, yay or nay?

Yay! I especially like the picture of the giant. Well done!

I vote yea.

The colour is well done and I think it looks good. :)

Wow, the lineart got really clean in some of these. And the different types of color in the strips is awesome. I like the one where the color was really muted, but the single panel of the giant is incredible. I think you have a great use of color either as a rarity, and if you go all the time with it it looks really good.

And also, these are all gold. I love the premise of bringing back violence into the world too. That's hilarious.

Of course the average adventurer wouldn't participate in peace negotiations...

Unless it's the agressive kind.

The comics are absolutely wonderful and funny as all get-out. Keep up the brilliant work.

As an aside, some of the next comic links seem to be broken/nonfunctional, such as the one on the Battle Spirit (http://gwdbooks.com/2016/12/dnd-kids-battle-spirit/) page.

urikson

Thanks for pointing out the broken link. Fixed :)

Also, we launched a patreon (https://www.patreon.com/DNDkids) to cover the expenses of the comic and to have an excuse to post a silly video as well as silly comics. Gib a kik :)

I'm noticing that the "next" button does not work in a lot of cases.

We fixed all broken links. DM willing, the comics should work fine in both directions now. Let me know if any new problems occur.

Last comic's from April, so... maybe?

More importantly, we might have found Tsukiko's player.
"Passive necrophilia" (http://gwdbooks.com/2017/03/dnd-kids-strahds-guest/) sounds like something she would say.

Ah, I had thought it stopped in February because the next button on the "Tactical Withdraw" (http://gwdbooks.com/2017/02/dnd-kids-tactical-withdrawal/) comic is ghosted out. I guess that's a glitch then.

Hi, this is Uri, the writer of DNDkids. My partner in crime Jamie is working on a very cool project that unfortunately requires his full attention for the time being. However, we do promise to return as soon as possible. Big, better and in 3D (well, two of those things).

The last comic is from April 7, 2017 and is called "Black Pudding." You will notice that the pudding in this comic is depicted in the British style, while the one in the monster manual is depicted in the international style. This is just one of the many problems faced by those who would drew classic monsters with culinary precision.
