View Full Version : DM Help [3.5] Bogeyman Build (NPC)

Hey all,

Looking for some advice/input on an NPC (legendary figure) build for my game. The Bogeyman (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bogeyman) (or at least my own take on it).

Currently bare bones build is as follows -

CR 20: Abysmally Wretched Bugbear Humanoid 3/Enchanter (Social Proficiency variant) 5/Nightmare Spinner 5/Dread Witch 5/Master Specialist 3

I'm really wanting to keep Bugbear as the base creature. Only problem with this build is it only gets 8ths. I can always make it CR 21 and add another level of Master Specialist, I suppose. Or drop Abysmally Wretched and add two levels of MS.

Mainly looking for ideas on feats and spell selection.

Which schools did you ban?

As for feats, how willing are you to twist prerequisites? For example, one of my favorite feats for fear builds is Dreadful Wrath from PGtF, but it's a regional feat so is highly specific.

Could you tell me where to find the Abysmally Wretched template? My skills are failing me.

Am thinking abjuration and evocation.

Yes indeed - NPC trait, DMG II. +2 CR.

If you'd like to stack up with Abysmally Wretched you might consider Otherworldly Countenance as a feat from FCI. It sickens the enemy for as long as they remain in your presence, and since sicken and nausea are separate you can throw both on the same target.
