Going through MIC ... and the Shirt of Angels and Shirt of Demonskin confuse me.

Based on reading the DR entry:
http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Damage_Reduction
"Some monsters are vulnerable to chaotic-, evil-, good-, or lawful-aligned weapons (Su). When a cleric casts align weapon, affected weapons might gain one or more of these properties, and certain magic weapons have these properties as well. A creature with an alignment subtype (chaotic, evil, good, or lawful) can overcome this type of damage reduction with its natural weapons and weapons it wields as if the weapons or natural weapons had an alignment (or alignments) that match the subtype(s) of the creature."

So the shirt of the angels, seemingly intended for good guys, has DR 3/evil. The demonskin has DR 3/good.

If you read that the item requires killing an angel or demon to make - then that makes sense.

So ... the angel shirt only has DR against neutral/good/unaligned? So basically, bad guys have to wear the frilly feather shirt, and the paladin walks around in demon leather?

Am I reading that correctly?

Thanks

Yes. Angels and demons alike are built such that they have a weakness to their opposite, evil and good respectively. It's like using cold attacks on a fire elemental. What harm would an angel take from a weapon of good? If you check out the angels and demons themselves, you will note that they have DR of this sort. Notably, this doesn't merely protect against foes that are around you in the alignment spectrum. Plenty of evil foes won't have evil aligned weapons, and thus won't bypass the DR.

Got it - so logically, for non-evil parties, the demonskin would be much better
