Hey, I have a player who wants to use Divine Metamagic with his Favored Soul/Paladin Occult Slayer/Church Inquisitor. He wants to to use divine metamagic to quicken spell his dispell magic, but by the wording of it, "...As a free action, you can take the energy from turning or rebuking undead and use it to apply a metamagic feat to divine spells that you know...." My understanding is that he's using a metamagic feat but paying the cost with turn/rebuke attempts instead of spell levels so it would make it a full round action, therefore he couldn't quicken spell it. Does anyone agree or disagree?

DMM only interacts with the spell level increase. It doesn't mention anything about casting times.

The rules to metamagic, meanwhile, say that spontaneous casters increase their casting times when using metamagic.

So... Quicken DMM on a Favored Soul doesn't work. Could do it for Paladin spells, though. Of course, you could always rule that the fluff trumps the crunch here, too, but that defeats the purpose of asking.

If he wants to quicken it, he needs something like the Rapid Metamagic feat in Complete Mage.
