View Full Version : Blogger Is Weird: Help?

So, I have been putting a serial novel online in two different formats. The first is Archive of Our Own, which had been relatively without issue.

And then there's Blogger. Oh, boy, Blogger.

On Archive of Our Own, I'm posting to the sleepy (excepting the explicit amateur porn) section known as "Original Works". For a comedy/dark fantasy series involving a portal to a modern alternate historical America, that means I have about nine views, two kudos/likes, and one "Subscription", but the site is dubious at this point as to whether that occurred.

That's normal.

On Blogger, by contrast, I have 21, 22, or 46 pageviews, depending on whether I consult the "Posts" side of the "Statistics" page, the general statistics, or the individual posts on the "Posts" page, and that's just three examples of a swarm of contradictory data. Even 21 pageviews is noteworthy considering that I have not put any effort into promoting this save for showing it to a friend or two.

But that's not the weirdest part. It seems that the main viewers of the blog are the same porn blog with two URLs and some kind of German charity.

Despite the fact that the only traffic the site is registering is coming from France and the US. Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

If anyone wants to, I can open up a thread for the story itself, but honestly, that's not really my primary concern at this point.

I'm slightly terrified at Blogger.

Blogger stats track things like bots and web crawlers. I wouldn't worry about this until you have a non-negligible following, but you can use Google Analytics to get more accurate data.

The 46 number in particular is probably double-counting crawlers that visited multiple pages.

Thank you. I think that's solved.
