The edgiest character I've seen was my first one, he was a teifling warlock who used a katana and hated his infernal side and souled his soul to a devil to save his family (who still died) he was a total lone wolf and often remarked on how "cursed" he was. Luckily the other players told me how edgy I was being so I let the DM kill that character off and returned with a cheerful and kind teifling bard who thought he was an elf and only spoke in limericks, puns, or lyrics from 80s songs.
