Every party worth its salt should have two 10ft poles (in case the first one breaks). Visit the local blacksmith and pay to have them snap/screw together in a pinch.

Doesn't it still require a melee weapon attack, though? And you can't make a melee weapon attack without reach, and the spell doesn't give any more reach?

He means that if you have a melee weapon with Reach, you could use BB or the other if you have Spell Sniper (Cause will put your cantrip range into 10 feet, and that's a range that "reach" weapon have)

If I remember the language right (Melee attack with a weapon?), you absolutely can make an attack with a crossbow using it!

Just walk up to the enemy and pistol-whip them with your hand crossbow while shouting "Fear the withering firepower of my crossbow!"

Things get really fun (and weird) when you start bludgeoning people with ranged weapon :smallwink:

Either of those options will work, provided you have a polearm or whip.
