View Full Version : Chapter 1: Terrasanta doom

Hyperion

In Dwanholf, there are many horrible places , where crimes is rampant and only the crime lords make the laws. Terrasanta unlike most towns and cities of the principality, enjoy many luxuries not found anywhere else. Paved streets, Lampydirae lampposts and buildings made by great architects.

Quite honestly, looking at the children walking down the streets and people enjoying their days and trying to get their hands on the latest piece of fashion would make everything seems normal to say the least. Right now, it's a little bit before sunset, with some people eating on terraces and some people making some deals in alleys.

A couple of patrolling guards, give some semblance of security in the streets while checking out for any suspicious activities.

A young boy with dark hair is jumping around the middle of the streets and look up, pointing at the sky.

"Ruben, comes back here! It's almost night time...What is this?"

As the blonde woman stares at the sky. In the sky, there are some kind of glowing red sigils made of various strange symbols.

"We urge everybody to remain calm until we figure out what's going on here." As some of the guards take the initiative to gather most crowds.

Among the crowds, our trio of fresh new arrivals are part of them. As the crowd is directed toward a nearby building, some kind of a cafe.

ooc:Welcome to the Anima Beyond Fantasy Sinners Saga, Magic appraisal Difficult (120) if you want to identify the strange phenomenon in the sky. While the guards are gathering people, so far everybody is relatively free to roam, so if you want to do something else meanwhile, you are free to do so. Social secondaries are welcome to be used, if you find some use for them now. Your characters can also just keep a low profile, which is perfectly fine.

Lemarrah frowned at this turn of events. She had come into town with only 5 copper coins to her name. Story of her life, y'know? Now, seeing those sigils like that, also kind of the story of her life. For some reason she just always saw stuff like that, the essence of things just everywhere. The energy of the world flowing through it all. If the nightmares at night were anything reliable, it was something about being a Daimah something or other? Who even knows.

What wasn't the story of her life, was other people see stuff like this as well. Normally when she pointed it out no saw anything and assumed she was bewitched or haunted or something. Stupid Inquisition. On one hand, it was like good she wasn't crazy, on the other hand she couldn't express her honest opinion on such things because she always found them mystical and fascinating, and oh look how beautiful the world's soul is with all its song-wood creatures singing the opera of life while grass and trees accompanied it with the orchestra of the universe, with the drums and cymbals of city and industry provide the bass- She shakes her head.

What was she thinking about again? Darn thoughts running away random places. Oh right the thing in the sky. Was it bad? Was it good? Her instincts told her that it probably wasn't good, but her coins told her it was always a coin flip chance. Her stomach was telling her that she needed to find some way to get food. But her pistol was telling her to at least try to find out what the magic sigils were. If she had some Tarot cards, they always had good specific advice. She decided to go with the demands of her gun and then her stomach.

She squints tries to extend her senses to the magic sigils to at least try to determine if they are something good or bad before she moves on to the ever important business of eating enough to survive the day.

While Lemarrah couldn't tell exactly what were the symbols in the sky, she could feel a disquiet in the environment, then fear rising from the trees in the parks and the animals around, from birds to cats and dogs.

20 Learn the Truth (Advanced)

If someone lies in Ophelia's presence, she will know it unless they pass an MR check of 120.
15 See Truth (Base)

15 Hide Spell (Basex3)

Anyone attempting to sense the above three spells using Magical Appraisal takes a -100 to their check.
Being a magical being in a mundane place was an empowering feeling. It was a thrill, really! Despite the dangers Ophelia couldn't help but feel straight out of a fairytale... When she had money.

But today, she didn't. It was a hard world where everyone wanted the mundane, and Ophelia had so little of that to offer. Well, she hadn't been looking too~ hard. In a foreign place like Terrasanta it was better to 'sense first', wait until someone else inadvertently gave you a sign or... A beacon like they had in Hausser... Heavens above, Hausser had been so much fun! Never before had she the fortune to come across a group of occultists so dedicated to having a good time! This wasn't Hausser, though. She'd learned a lot there, but now she was going to learn even more, here.

Ophelia sat outside, sipping on a glass of water as though it were some fancy light alcohol. She looked impeccably pristine despite her poverty; one thing she spared no expense of energy in maintaining. A hood kept the sun from her eyes, while she poured over a few scraps of parchment she'd been writing on. It looked like someone trying to scratch together ideas for a novel, of course she hadn't the money for a book. In reality it was just her own code language for spellcraft, something to pass the time while she figured out what she was going to do here... Theft was always an option but... That wasn't something to dabble in lightly for a mage.

Her eyes perked up at a ruckus from the guards, and kept going all the way up to the skies.

When Dominic came to Terrasanta, he had been looking for a place to avoid standing out. He was looking for somewhere to hide, and where hopefully the people hunting him would lose his trail. In a city like this, one should be able to disappear.

However, like any city, one needed money to survive. With his only real skills being stabbing people, Dominic decided his best bet was finding a merchant. He knew enough to know that he would likely be working for smugglers or pirates, but given his situation he decided it was the lesser of two evils.

He spent his first few days trying to make contacts with the locals, with little success. People were more suspicious of a stranger with a blade on his back than Dominic had expected them to be in such a city.

He decided to take a day to clear his head and deal with his ever recovering memory. He still only got glimpses and bits, but he was slowly scrapping together a history of what had occurred to him. Memories from before his time in the facility were almost non existent, but he wasn't too concerned with that.

As he sat and read over the menu at a local cafe, he looked up to watch the clouds go by and instead was greeted with strange runes forming in the sky.

Dominic mutters under his breath as he follows the crowd.
"Damn mages. What are they up to now?"

I would feel flattered, but I highly doubt that anyone would go to such trouble to retrieve me, or the blade. Even both of us together... no. This is something else.

I would roll, but I would need an open roll and then a good roll just to come close, so can I just assume Dominic doesn't know? He is completely untrained after all

So......probably bad then. Hm. She looks around. The cafe was probably the best place to go. But she barely had any money. There were a lot of people around to. She walks towards it, and looks around: there was a man with a sword. But any thief knew that stealing from warriors ended badly. Sure, swords were incredibly valuable things to take and to sell, but anyone who could actually wield a sword wasn't someone you want to mess with. They tended to be the weapons of nobility and knights, who took being warriors very seriously. That and she was afraid of weapons anyways, she only carried around her pistol as intimidation to avoid fights, not start them.

Well technically she could fight by channeling magic through the gun for some explosive fiery power, but that tended to only work once in a while-the soul of the world disliked repetition- every day was a show, and she had to perform her tricks different ways. But that was off topic. Point was, she was not foolish enough to try and take anything like a sword. She looked over at the strange hooded figure otherwise known not to Lemarrah as Ophelia. Who wears a hood in daylight? Who has the education to know how to read? Oh well. She would see if people were abnormal, she has always seen abnormal stuff. The sword guy was clearly abnormal somehow essence-wise, he wasn't hiding anything to her sight, so all the more reason to not mess with him. Sword people were bad, sword people with powers were worse. But she couldn't tell anything from the hooded one.

Oh well. Best to get the food. Lets see, what could she do? Creating the illusion of coinage to pay for a meal would work only once and eventually fade. She could conjure coins, but like all such magic still eventually fades out of existence. Best to only use when your not coming back again. No she would try a different trick. She walks up to one of the people who were running the cafe.
"Hey, I'm short on coin, and this looks like an abnormal influx of customers! I have a the most splendid singing voice and would love to keep them entertained for you in exchange for a meal. That and they need some calm from these strange turn of events, no?"
Making her offer with a wink. She didn't actually, but who would know when she would use an illusion of sound to do so? Her curiosity of course was whispering to her in the back of her head to go and try to poke at the sigils with her magical stick, but food was important.

Dominic overhears the offer of music and narrows his eyes annoyed, before relaxing his face into a smile.
I see the local minstrels wasted no time taking advantage of the situation. It should annoy me, but the chance for a distraction sounds too nice to let slip by.
With his decision made, Dominic heads over to a seat closer to where the singing is likely to start, and waits, hoping they can at least partially back up their claim.

The man running the cafe, look at her, surprised by the offer. "Yeah sure, I didn't expect to see that many people in my small cafe."

As the crowd keep filling the cafe little by little, some people gathers with their friends or family. Meanwhile a couple of guards are having some kind of meeting in the back. Ophelia and Lemerrah, could catch some of what they were talking about. Something about people not managing to get out of the city.

ooc: If you want to perform some songs, you can try with either Music or some other abilities. Of course, if you want to take others actions, you are welcome to do so.

Ophelia couldn't tell anything specific about the sigils in the sky. There are after all many magic symbols in the world.

Yeah in general, if a secondary ability can be used untrained, I will mention it. But yeah safe to assume your character doesn't know about it.

Anyway also, Dominic heard the conversations between the guards more clearly:
"It looks like there some kind of a strange thing blocking the exits out of the city. Some guards and citizen got hurt, trying to get out."

"Do you think some crimelords are making a move?"

They were obviously not familiar with magic or supernatural of any kind.

When Dominic hears the news about people being unable to leave, anything resembling joy leaves his body.

Whoever it is, they don't want their prey to escape. I doubt the local pirates could pull something like this off. The Church maybe? If the inquisition came here, I can see this being how they announce the entire city as heretical and start a massive extermination campaign. I really don't want to get caught in the middle of a battle between the pirates and the church. Or maybe those damn mages really did find me, and this sword is far more important than I gave it credit for.

Dominic looks over his shoulder at the blade on his back. He realizes he had slowly been raising his hand to draw the sword, and forcefully lets out a long breath, lowering his hand as he does.

Careful. Drawing a sword in the middle of an agitated crowd is probably the fastest way I could draw attention. What I need is to stay calm. Hopefully the guards let slip something I can use to figure out just who is attacking.

Not sure if I need it or not, but here is a notice roll to keep listening to them (Not that dominic has a great notice roll, but some info is better than none)

While listening to the guards, Dominic doesn't really hear anything new beside them trying to figure out how to get out of town. In the cafe, the people talking are masking the noises coming from outside, As Dominic can hear moans and grunts of a small group of people outside, apparently coming toward the main door.

Lemarrah thinks. Her curiosity. It tugs at her, more insistent at what she overhears. Something about not managing get out? That was bad for her. Being the shameless rapscallion that she is, her usual reaction to danger was to run as far away from it as possible and perhaps an illusion to point Sir Danger in the direction of that other way please. But if that was true, she was trapped in here with everyone else.

Which meant all the more reason to try and fake some music. It would make everyone more approving of her if she produced some, and therefore less likely to direct any anger at her. As well as keeping things calm. Trapped people tended to be fearful people. Fearful people did stupid things. Like randomly blaming someone as a witch for some random characteristic they didn't like or found weird. Then doing some superstitious nonsense as a mob to kill someone like a certain dashing beauty such as herself. Beloved minstrels didn't get blamed for witchcraft, name one time that happened. Can't? Exactly, because they were beloved. No one ever suspects the harmless minstrel of sorcery. Besides logically whatever wants them staying in is either doing this to keep them out of something else outside, or is keeping them inside for whatever purpose, and therefore trouble will probably come to you. No need to go seeking it out when its going to be in here, and no need to try to escape if said trouble is on the other side.

Only problem was the only song she knew was one she heard in snatches in her strange memories of some other life in a dead language she didn't understand. But that was just a matter of knowing how to sell it.
"Hello all, I shall sing to you all, a song from far off lands, from distances so great as to be unimaginable."
It was not a lie- time was a distance. Possibly the greatest distance there ever was.
"In a language never to your ears, heard before! Come hear the exotic sounds of....Shwa'cicala..."
She opened her mouth breathing for a bit to look like she is preparing to sing while she gathers her energy and channels her magic through her voice, using the essence of illusions to twist and smooth her voice so that it sounded beautiful and smooth away any off-key notes, with the intended end result being an ethereal, mysterious song yet calming, soothing. One that put you at ease, yet spoke of greater things beyond the world in some sublime manner. The words themselves didn't matter. Lemarrah did not know what they mean, but she remembered them nonetheless.

She thinks it was a Daimah song? or was it Sylvain? The memories were never clear enough. Whatever she was, she knew that a lot of bad things happened a very long time ago for reasons she wasn't all that clear on. The names even didn't even mean all that much- what even WAS a Sylvain? She knew the word Daimah and that it somehow applied to her, but its not as if painful nightmare memories of somebody else were all that informative. All she knew was that something was up. She might even try to figure what that was someday, but today was alas for her curiosity, not that day.

Ophelia clasped a hand over her chest, rising quickly and gathering her papers. They'd soon be stuffed into her case as she made her way inside. This was bad, of all the times for her brain to be useless. Magic like this was 'never' good. There were beneficial spells which could effect a large scale to be sure, but nobody just threw them on major cities. That kindof benevolence died a long time ago. She heard the guards speaking of something blocking their way, and that 'sounded' bad. But this wouldn't be the first time she had to escape a blockade. Between the mixture of enchantments she kept upon her person, maneuvering past a few guards would be a relatively simple task.

The young occultist walked stiffly through the common room just as the mysterious minstrel began to play. Ophelia had to perform a double-take too, her magically enhanced eyes picking up something she hadn't expected to see...

However as the zombie comes in, she stops singing. Oh no zombies. She saw a black, wrong, wrong WRONG aura about them. She just felt that instinctually. It was essence that was twisted, wrong and went against everything else she had ever seen in the world. It didn't flow right, it was black and jagged and rotted and so on, the rest of the soul of the world hated it. It was necromancy and it was just not something that should be there. She didn't even bother to analyze it, because she already knew how wrong it was. Whoever was doing this? Working with bad juju.

What to do? its not as if zombies could see illusions. Or be intimidated by a gun with no bullets. So she got out her pistol and proclaims:
"Foul undead! I, Inquisitor Lemarrah shall smite thee with my holy flames in the name of God and Solomon!"
She then channels destuctive energy through her pistol shaping them into pure white fire that comes roaring out of it in a stream of burning purity at the bulk of the zombies. Wait was she supposed to say just "God", "God and Abel" or "God and Solomon"? Stupid past memory dreams getting her mixed up on the stupid religion that is everywhere and hates her. Hopefully the normal people won't notice that amidst the sudden chaos and glorious flames of holy purity.
"Never fear commonfolk! No zombie ever expects the Abel Inquisition!
..No wait. She was in Dwanholf! Where the Inquisition didn’t go! That was why she came here in the first place! This was a terrible idea.

With a specialization, it means all other effects roll are at -2 from your power check. So with your base of power 9, you roll any other effect beside illusion at power 7(unless you spend enough zeon to boost that number, so usually means more turns accumulating).

Effect level 1 are very minor cantrips, so it would have to be a minimum of effect level 2, requiring a power check of 18 and with projection+0 making a difficulty modifier of +1 = 19.

Currently you rolled a 10 (so 9 point difference) meaning that normally...you would be unconscious for several days and lose 2 points of power permanently.

But well, going to give you a break on your first roll, you lose 2 points of fatigue instead of the effects above but something to keep in mind for future rolls. Accumulating Zeon is not a bad tactic or strategy quite honestly for a couple of turns when using Natural magic, as the checks are very high and brutal.

Dominic smirks at the claim he hears from the gun wielding singer. I doubt an inquisitor would reveal themselves so easily up here. Still, better to stay on the side of caution for now. Guess I'll have to stick to slicing these things and save the fire for another day.

As Dominic approaches the shambling corpse in front of him (zombie 1), he sneers at the creature before him, takes a two handed stance with his sword before swinging his sword in a downward slice trying to cut through the creatures shoulder and into something more vulnerable. He quickly follows up with a horizontal slash, designed to force an enemy backwards, moving a half step forward as he take the second swing.

Before she even had time to process the singers magic eruption, the door behind her exploded inward. The girl squeaked, gripping her papers to her chest and hopping a few feet away. Ophelia turned, expecting to see bandits or city guards, but no. What stood before her was blackened flesh, worms, and pus in the shape of a man. For few brief seconds, she was frozen, magic trickling into her at a snails pace while she dully stepped back from the aberration. Thankfully, one of the muscleheads from the back was up for the task of heroism, and chopped the thing in two! Ophelia's trance broken, she stumbled back, becoming one with the crowd.

This was bad... But good? Necromancy was a perversion of magic, and magic was 'definitely' at work here! But it was also so incredibly tempting to her curiosity! She could see in her imagination the magical cords and pathways by which some being played upon these dead bodies like puppets.

That was it, her analytical self was back. While observing their battle, and the undead mass coming through the doorway, Ophelia moved to the back of the crowd if she could. She dare not speak, dare not draw attention to herself in this most perilous time. But those in the crowd who had stayed would not be likely to break sight of the zombies in order to search for a heavily cloaked girl doing the macherina. If she were able to get to the back of the room, she would attempt to keep herself hidden in the churning bodies, and while not speaking would gesture-as well hidden by her cloak as possible-and gather magic more swiftly.

Except....these were still zombies, and the soul of the world was still a fickle mistress. And she still had no mundane weaponry to actually fall back on. How could she help out with just a single, powerful spell?

Well, the ZOMBIES couldn't be fooled with them, but maybe the normal people around her could be tricked into swarming them. Take away their fear. So she started gathering up a lot more energy trying to weave the energies to make the zombies look a lot less threatening and scary and more.....wimpy and fury-inspiring. Basically an illusion to try and fool the normal folk around into turning from a scared crowd of sheep into a stampeding herd of bulls to attack the zombies for her with superior numbers.

She hoped this would work.

The three guards band together and assemble their courage to attack one of the Zombies next to Dominic, by using their short swords attempting to find opening in the creatures.

Guards attack on Zombie 2:
[roll0]

ooc: to accumulate 200 zeon points, you would need to spend some turns accumulation, remember you accumulating Zeon at the normal MA rate. But well going to assume you want to spend 4 turns charging the spell then(unless you change your mind about it).

The guards deal 34 damage to Zombie 2.

ooc: Ophelia and Lemarrah can take their turns, if Lemarrah to not keep accumulating Zeon to cast the 200 zeon spell. Zombie 2 and 3 are in melee with Dominic and the Guards (3 guards).

Turn 3:
Lemarrah - 215 (Accumulating Zeon to cast big spell, 2 turns of accumulation so far--currently has surprise against Zombie 2. Still -2 fatigue points right now.)
Ophelia - 132
Guards Group- 120
Zombie 3 - 108 (158 damage)
Dominic - 71 (current status: 2 damage taken)
Zombie 2 - 49 (38 damage)

The Guards in a combined effort with helping, Dominic manage to take down the Zombies. The crowd is panicking and the sunset doesn't bode well. There are various screams in the streets. It looks like the attacks by these walking and rotting corpses are happening outside as well.

Making a run for it or helping people seem to be the few options left for our group.

"Everybody remains calm! We have the situation under control." As the guards, try somewhat to reassure the crowd.

ooc: Moved along since it took awhile to get anything going, plus it just want an introduction to combat.

Dominic follows up the guards statement with "Listen to the guards.", before he goes about checking the bodies for anything he can find.

ooc:just looking over the bodies to make sure they are down and see if they have any weird markings. Also, was anyone but Dominic hurt? If so, Dominic heads over to check on them as well.

After he finishes, he heads over to Lemerrah. "If I could have a word with you, inquisitor?" Dominics tone is harsh and his eyes hold a hint of the fury he holds for mages. As Dominic speaks he is already heading towards a corner away from the crowd.

There we go! Area secure, and she didn't need to do a thing! That was good for her mana pool, but she felt a missed opportunity. Ophelia paused her magic accumulation. Now that the battle was over, others might be more likely to turn their eyes on her. But this was a decent amount of Zeon, she felt something could be done with it. Glancing at the warrior with the strange features, she made a brief tossing motion in his direction, and a link was secured.

Ophelia casts Communicate Through Essence on Dominic!

The initial effect of the spell would be a little tingling for Dominic. Perhaps he'd even get the faintest suggestion that someone in the room was waiting to speak to him. Ophelia was, at this moment, waiting. But the moment he approached the inquisitor she felt she had lost her chance to sweep away from this cleanly. Not that... She knew what kindof inquisitor this mysterious singer was.

Ophelia hung out a bit, avoiding eye contact with either of them and keeping hidden beneath her hood until she could properly interject. The spell gave no good indication of who had cast it, unless someone had the ability to sense magic.

Ophelia is using her Magical Appraisal to conceal Communicate Through Essence!

Feeling that the inquisitor wouldn't join him, Dominic felt annoyed, but then felt something subtly pulling him to talk in private. Well, not like I have any other leads right now. Might as well follow my gut.

Heading where his instincts told him to, Dominic leaned against a wall out of sight of the guards and waited to see who would come.

ooc: Felt this would be a good way for them to meet up while staying in character to how the spell feels like it would appear to Dominic

Hmmm... Ophelia observed him through the edge of her gaze. Where was 'he' going? Well, wherever it was, it didn't seem she would be in danger of interrupting now. Taking a deep breath, she mentally prepared herself for the task at hand. The task of recruitment! One which, as a hated witch, was all the more dangerous...

"... Hello," Via her magic, he heard no words. It was spoken to his essence, almost like a feeling. A feeling somehow distinct and unobtrusive at the same time. Someone had greeted him, "I'm sorry," The string of unfathomable understanding continued, "For speaking to you this way. I am with you, in the crowd, but it is dangerous for me to come forward and speak in person." Ophelia was smiling to herself, but it was an uncertain smile. So much to say, yet such a message she had never had to make!!

"I am a magician from the south, and after observing your swordplay, I hoped to procure an alliance with you. I don't pretend to know your objective, but I am certain that if given the chance, I could find us a way out of the city. Does this appeal to you at all? I can feel your reply as well... As long as you want me too," Good! Precise and to the point, like an academic letter! It was kindof awkward, but she had to assume he wouldn't freak out... Because there wasn't much she could have done to prevent it even if he did.

Dominic almost swore when he felt the first 'words' wash over him, but managed to stay calm enough to keep from drawing any attention to himself. As the ideas of an escape came from the mysterious caller, Dominic looked around at the crowd to see if he could notice whether the thoughts actually came from someone inside the room, or if he was merely having a nervous breakdown. After the message finished, Dominic took a moment to collect his thoughts before responding, hoping that whoever was talking to him was right about him merely needing to think at them for this talk to continue. He looks up at the ceiling and focuses his mind as he 'speaks' to the mysterious stranger.

"Are you connected to what just happened?" Before he could trust whatever or whoever was speaking to him, Dominic needed to know that they weren't involved in what just happened. People were likely dying out there, and he didn't think he could stomach the idea of working with a mage responsible for whatever was going on outside, no matter how useful they might be for his continued survival given the current crisis going on.

And here I thought that the worst thing I would deal with today would be pickpockets. Dominic mused to himself while he waited for a response.

Oh wow, where had her interaction studies gone? Of course normal people would link her to any and all magical catastrophe! It was the cause of 80% of witch burnings if she remembered.
"No!" Came her immediate response, "Sorry, no. I..." she kept herself from saying 'I think it's very interesting' and continued with, "I do not have this kind of power. It's source is at least as confusing to me as it is you; maybe more so!"

Essence communication had another problem. It was 'perfect'. There was no such thing as a 'misunderstanding', because all communications were pure meaning. Apart from making conversation easy and peaceful, it made lies impossible to detect unless a party had factual evidence to the contrary. There were no eye twitches, no shaking voice to give them away. She sincerely hoped, that such a thing did not cross the mind of this sellsword though. It wasn't a thing for uneducated folk to think about really.

Meanwhile the chaos outside keep growing with many people attempting to run away from the undead monstrosities roaming in the streets.

"We might need to use the sewers to escape!"
"That doesn't sound like a good idea, what if they are down there too?"
"We don't know if the barrier extends to the sewers!"

Many of the crowd including the officers are trying to think of way to get out of here.

ooc: You have many options here, Sneaking out while the crowd is panicked, you could try to help guide survivors or save people in the streets. Sneaking out, could also be a way to look for stores and other places for various of supplies.

Ophelia knows that there is a small group of the Magus Order in town, mostly looking for unlikely talents in Terrasanta. While they are mostly teachers and recruiters for the order with maybe a few apprentices, it might be a group that might help with the current situation, if they didn't find a way out of town already.

While Dominic was waiting for the response, he was having an internal struggle. While he couldn't in good conscience abandon the people here, he doubted his ability to safely lead them all out of a city like this on his own. When he got the response, he sighed, hoping no one noticed his relief.

"Do you have a plan?" If the unidentified mage already had a plan, Dominic might be better off following their lead instead. When mention came of going through the sewers to escape, Dominic hesitated to pipe up. It could be worse down there, and its likely anyone going down will have less visibility to spot these things with.

A startling thought entered Dominics head as he listened to the crowd.
"How long can you maintain this connection for?"

ooc: I realized that Dominic was starting to form plans in my head from info he doesnt have

'I don't, not a detailed one. I've one primary idea, which is that if we make it to the wall I can get us from one side to the other without notice,' She frowns despite herself, her eyes lowering to the ground, 'But depending on if the city is being properly patrolled, I may need a little more time to prepare a portal,' She drummed her fingers, thinking about the possibility of aid. Surely the Magus order would be happy to have her help, and she theirs. But unless they were to chase down the sanctum, communicating with them by magic was a risk. They could have already prepared their escape... Or died. She doubted the latter, though.

'Indefinitely,' She replied, her eyes drifting curiously in his direction, 'Why?'

"Probably not someting smart." Dominic replies, as he pushes himself off the wall, and begins walking at a slow measured pace towards the center of the discussion.

"If we leave them alone, all of these people are likely to die. All these lives lost because some mage couldn't leave these people alone." Dominic shakes his head at the thought "it sickens me. I can't sit by and not at least try to help them."

"Attention everyone! I don't know about you, but I plan to leave this city alive. Our best chance at survival is to break into smaller groups, as we will all draw less attention that way. I recommend leaving sooner over later, as in now. I'll be leading a group through the back alleys in five minutes. If you plan to take a different route that's fine, but be careful. Whoever is behind this is clearly dangerous and doesn't care about collateral damage, but it also means we aren't likely to be targeted directly. If they wanted the people in the city dead, they would have just done it. Now break into groups and move, unless you want to end up dead."

As Dominic let's that sink into the crowd, he sends a messafe to his mysterious contact.
"Sorry if that was less than subtle, but they all need to move or die. We may have a few extra people with us, but we should be safe enough and I'll deal with anyone who proves to be a threat to us."

As he finishes his message, Dominic sits down at the nearest table and waits for the crowd to either move, or for his five minutes to be up.
