Part of the Greater Divine Surge maneuver says that you can take constitution damage to increase the damage of the strike. Could a construct or undead or animated plant (or anything without a constitution) use this maneuver at maximum effect without cost? Or would they be unable to augment the maneuver damage?

My initial guess is that this maneuver allows the augmentation for such creatures, but I may not be impartial and wanted to check with the wise sages of the boards.

As part of this maneuver, you make a single melee attack that deals an extra 6d8 points of damage. In addition, before making this melee attack, you can also decide to take a number of points of Constitution damage equal to your initiator level or lower. For each point of Constitution damage you take, you gain a +1 bonus on your attack roll and deal an extra 2d8 points of damage. After using this maneuver, you are considered flat-footed until the beginning of your next turn.

You can't take damage to something that doesn't exist.

Ah, that's a good resolution. You're not actually taking the con damage, so it doesn't work. Problem solved. It would need to be something like this to work for those without constitutions:

You may choose to increase the damage of this maneuver in increments of 2d8. For each 2d8 of increased damage, you take 1 point of constitution damage.

Thank you!
