Warpriest + Evangelist question

I'm working on a warpriest evangelist. My question is, does the Aligned Class ability from the Evangelist only determine what class features you gain from your old class? Or does it determine how powerful those features are? Basically will I just have the basic versions of the abilities that upgrade as you take more warpriest levels, or will those upgrade as if I had those levels because of Aligned Class?

Aligned class both unlocks and advances all class features. In the case of warpriest, evangelist levels will count towards, e.g., both unlocking sacred armour, and improving the enhancement bonus it provides.

Evangelist advances all class features of your entry class 9/10, save your chassis (e.g. hit die, skill points, BAB.)

Thank you both. That's what I assumed was intended but because the wording is a bit ambiguous I figured I'd check before I made a character that is under powered because I misunderstood something.
