So I have a binder of scribbled notes, maps, ramblings that I really want to turn into a campaign setting for my D&D group. The only problem is I'd like to spend some time putting it all together in a cohesive fashion.

I've seen Hero Lab's, Realm Works, but I'm hoping to avoid the price tag associated with that.

What exactly do you want from this software?

I'm looking for something that will help organize people, towns, regions, monsters, as well as a place you can either make, or upload a good map of the world.

Basically, a really good template for world building that will let any PC have decent access to information if they wanted to look it up.

This is what I use:

http://www.linkednotes.com/ProductInfo.aspx

You basically build a database. Works fairly well.

Google Sites is a great way to build a wiki.

That's what I do.

This site will make more sense to me and my players, but...

I like to use OneNote from Microsoft for my own organization. It's free and works on all my devices pretty well.

Obsidian Portal (https://www.obsidianportal.com) is really nice. Built from the ground up to work with RPGs. Let's you load a map, keep an adventure log, and a wiki. Paid version offers even more options.

Evernote is free. So is OneNote.

MyInfo from Milenix had a lot of features requested by at least one DM incorporated into it.

Obsidian Portal and City of Brass are websites you can use.

Realm Works is my current program of choice but it costs $50.
