Question on whether you can cast Antimagic Field on someone else.

Antimagic Field
Abjuration
Level: Clr 8, Magic 6, Protection 6, Sor/Wiz 6
Components: V, S, M/DF
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: 10 ft.
Area: 10-ft.-radius emanation, centered on you
Duration: 10 min./level (D)
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: See text
An invisible barrier surrounds you and moves with you. The space within this barrier is impervious to most magical effects, including spells, spell-like abilities, and supernatural abilities. Likewise, it prevents the functioning of any magic items or spells within its confines.

If you look at Range: 10ft, I would assume you can cast on anyone within 10ft. It does not say personal therefore it is not personal.

You could try casting it on someone else, but it always reverts to being centered on you (as per the spell's Area), so it wouldn't accomplish much. Using share spells with a companion (such as a familiar or psicrystal) is fine, and you can also use arcane archer to imbue an arrow with an AMF.

Otherwise, no.

This was asked (presumably by one of your players) yesterday (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?503017-Casting-antimagic-field-on-others).

The text tells you where the spell is cast, and text trumps table. The range limitation is still functional as it effectively prevents you from Widening it.

1. There was another thread on this topic recently.
2. No. It completely lacks a Target line, so you don't cast it 'on' anything. You simply cast it. The area is also fixed, always being centered on you, with no part of the text saying (or even implying) it can be centered on anything else.
3. It can't be Personal because it's an Area spell (and thus effects things other than just the caster).
In summary: Wishful thinking does make AMF into a targeted spell.

If you are a DM (as I suspect you are, as per the above), you may be able to sneakily upgrade an NPC to antimagic ray, which produces a ray (surprise!) that can target someone. It won't create a 10' area, though, and you won't be able to cast it on a pebble, like darkness, which you can conveniently carry around. If you want that, you should get a one-pound piece of iron colossus (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=20698052&postcount=19).
