Well, I've got a question, and I guess this can turn into a discussion, but anyways... Is it just me, or does anyone else imagine Xykon sounding like Bender from Futurama? Anyone agree? I was just wondering...

Most of the characters just sound like the generic voice in my head. I have yet to find out whose voice that is.

I don't know, I kind of agree with you. He does just sound like Bender, for some reason. But I can be weird about things like that sometimes, so don't hold me to that. Tomorrow, he may sound like David Letterman.

Bender, but with a deeper voice that has a bit more of an... Undead feel to it?

But the talking style seems like it would fit, but with Xykon being a bit more intelligent.

Bender... right... and Miko sounds like Amy..

And Belkar sounds like Bart Simpson...

He sounds like Death from the Discworld game. :P

Nah, don't know why, but when I think of Xykon having a voice, I keep imagining it that kind of cheesy, over the top villainy voice that those kind of Vaudeville villains would have in old movies where they'd tie helpless maidens and Dudley Doright to train tracks.

Belkar, however, I do kind of imagine sounding like Bender....

None of the characters have "voices" when I read the comic. They each have their own "feel" in my mind, but when I'm reading, I don't hear actual voices speaking.

He always sounded like Hannibal Lecter to me.

Just you. Darker and more malevolent. Sort of Vader-esque. The voice should reverberate off his empty skull.

Now that you mention it, Xykon does have a couple of bender-ish lines. Not sure about the voiced itself tho'.

Other than that, I agree with Scarab83.

Not really. As irreverent as Bender is (CN), he's never as malicious as Xykon; and the black globes in his speech make me think of a cavernous voice or something.

I had initally thought it was a stupid idea, but the flippancy and attitude, I could see how that'd work. But Bender's just not evil enough and the accent doesn't fit.
Anyway I thoght we agreed he sounded like Skeletor

He definately would have to sound like Bender at some point...definately.
They have the same style, evilness apart.

I don't hear Xykon sounding like Bender at all. Xykon's voice, to my mind, is considerably harsher...if there's a Futurama character who sounds right, to my mind it'd be the Robot Santa Claus.

To me he sounds like death in the rendition of hogfather as a film. Vaarsuvius is british for some reason and Hinjo, Miko etc all speak with japanese accents.

This gonna be totally weird, but sometimes I imagine Xykon with a voice kind of like Bernie Mac's voice.
But I can see a similarity between Xykon and Bender.

The skeletor from that 2nd cartoon, where he is a clown :smalltongue:

I always thought Xycon should sound like Robin Williams doing an Ian McKellan impersonation. With undeadish voice effects.

Xykon always struck me as some deep, low-pitched voice out of one of those artificial voice boxes you see at times. Bender is probably coming from the fact that his teeth are showing, and that Bender's "teeth" are always showing. More than anything, the appearance is probably relating to something familiar.

Dunno why, but Roy always struck me as Wayne Brady. At some point he will get on a stage (intoxicated or not) and improv a song about the crazy relationship between... anyone in his group.

Xykon is Basil Fawlty, John Cleese all the way. I always hear Belkar as Chode from Tripping The Rift.

While I don't use the voice in my head, I do see a striking similarity to an evil Bender.

Well. Evil-er.

The same for me too

For me, Xykon's voice in life would have been smooth but deep, and now that he's dead, and his vocal cords are somewhat rotted, his voice would be the same but more gravelly. Deep but at the same time care-free and very "whatever"-ish.

Bwahaha... pure hilarity.
I love villians.

Especially when they have a good laugh as in this comic (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0376.html)
I love it when :xykon: and:redcloak: get along. Team evil rocks.

SoD spoiler:

In Start of Darkness, when Xykon changes to a lich and notices his new voice, he notes that if he pitches his voice a little lower, he sounds "just like" Darth Vader.

With the realisation that I've probably said different things about him in the past, recently I've had Xykon's voice in my (for want of a better term) mind's ear sounding an awful lot like Valentine Dyall. (for those who don't recognise the name, you probably won't know who he is even after I've listed some of his credits, but don't feel bad; he wasn't really that well known outside the UK.

He's the guy who played the Black Guardian in Doctor Who (the Key to something-or-other series), a guardsman in Ivanhoe (yes, back in the 1950s) Dr. Noah in Casino Royale, and doubled up as Gargravarr and Deep Thought in Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy. He had about a metric Zillion other roles, but these are the only ones I figure most people might have a chance at remembering. Trouble is, he'd have to raise his pitch to sound like Vader.
