Combat Manoeuvre [Disengage]: Typically following an opponents evade/deflection/block or attackers feint. Allows a 1 meter step adjacent to the currently engaged enemy without provoking an attack in an attempt to make a follow up attack.
What I'm wondering is if it'd make more sense to be a 1 meter step adjacent or away from an opponent without provoking an attack. If away as well as adjacent, allows the attacking character to reposition and possibly assume a defensive stance or allows for a variety of other engagement tactics.
Background: My D20/3.5/Pathfinder is mostly house rules/mechanics and It's in metric.
