--Lab Accident
The alchemist gains the mutant template. The alchemist cannot select the mindless deformity. This replaces mutagen, though the alchemist can gain it later as an alchemist discovery.

--Last in Class
The alchemist cannot create extracts until level 4, and then only learns additional extracts at the rate a paladin or ranger would learn spells. This archetype cannot learn extracts beyond 4th level. This alters alchemy.

--Full BAB, alters alchemist BAB

--Unintended side effects
At 4th, 8th, 12th, 16th, and 20th levels, this archetype can select an additional beneficial mutation from the mutation template description page, or two if he also takes an additional deformity.

--Martial Weapon Proficiency
At 2nd level, this archetype gains Martial Weapon Proficiency with the weapon of their choice as a bonus feat.

Well, it seems incredibly strong.

Like, assuming you apply the whole template, it can have:
Rage as a Barbarian of its level
fast healing 5 (or DR 5/-, or immune to mind-affecting effects)
+4 additional Strength and Constitution (for 28+ Strength at level 1 when raging)
Oh, and immunity to anything that targets Humanoids
At the cost of:
Fragile, being staggered when you fail a fort save (because you will have a good save bonus)
Spasms, lose Dexterity bonus on everything (besides reflex save) for a round when you fail a reflex save (because you took a 10 dex anyway to boost your Str/Con)
And -2 to two of your dump stats

Lets not even get into the balance of at-will Charm Person/Monster, Dominate Person, Shocking Grasp, or Sleep/Deep Slumber. Or Telepathy and Detect Thoughts at-will.

Any tips to balance it? I'm going for a failed alchemist flavor.

ignore the stat modifiers from the template, and level-gate some of the more disruptive abilities.
