View Full Version : Where are all the Gnome Pallys?!?!?!?

So I was playing around with an idea for the never seen Gnome Pally for a game played on Roll20. I was very happy after the research. I realized I could play a prankster Pally following Garl Glittergold who was wholly devout to goodness and Justice as long as it included non injurious humor. I am still working out the nuances but I can't seem to find an image that would fit a Gnome Pally anywhere (go figure). If anyone can send one or direct me to a gallery I would appreciate it.

Signing off as the newest Pally race,
You will know their evil by their absent laughter

P.S.
I should add that while I have found some pics, I have found only three or four of a male and warrior class. None of those looked like a pally to me.

I've honestly just never understood the appeal of gnomes

Mostly, they are what I grew up with in fairy tales. Except they were called dwarves. Tiny humanoids, half the size of a human at best, often invisible, inherently magical and weavers of illusion, great craftsmen, living deep underground or in the forests. THey have the stats that dwarves should have, basically.

Of course, the personality as described in the books never fit much. They should be taciturn, distrustful, scheming and vengeful. But you can't have everything.

Two pretty decent options, I think.

I never saw a great appear fluff-wise, but mechanically the 'advantage on spell saves' in 5e makes them more interesting to me.

I've considered making a gnome with level 1 in fighter, then going into wizard, to have a full plate gnome wielding a greatsword (idea to look like Cloud's buster sword in FF7), which he never draws.

I don't really like them in the form of a standard PC race. Pathfinder made some good adds with the bleaching, but honestly they work for me as a fey culture along with redcaps, quicklings, and sprites that you stumble upon and interact with rather than play as. However, I generally eliminate options that I think will be ultimately used to distract and annoy (and I admit my biases). I'm not anti-fun, but clownshoes aren't for the road.

I did see those, I'm pretty new to 5e but I think the first one is a halfling.

To be clear, I am not playing him as a "troll" for the group. The idea is a "vengance prankster". So He would play harmless jokes on the party like someone waking up and their sword smells like perfume or their boots changing color at random times. The Uncomfortable ones would be reserved for enemies and NPCs.
I think the folks that just like to make the DMs job harder by causing division in the group don't understand the spirit of the game.

A lot depends on your game. I think Dragonlance did a lot of damage to gnomes in making them crazy inventor types, and that was really the predominant vision of them for 15 years or so. I've come to enjoy them, to the point where they're my favored race, with a mix of humor (sometimes dark and weird, but humor), creativity, and a propensity to talk to EVERYTHING.

It seems like one of Kaveman's campaign logs features a gnome paladin. The campaign with the Dead Parrot Roberts, I think. Before he becomes a god.
