I have pen pals! A couple of years ago there was a thing on *cough* xoJane *cough* where a bunch of us in the BTL community swapped contact details. I still exchange letters with four of them, and consider them valued friends. Especially with how cold and impersonal meatspace has become.

All of my old friends are geographically distant now, so I write to them as well. It takes up a significant portion of my free time.
