Is it better to do straight unchained monk, straight stalker, or unchained monk with a couple of key level dips, or stalker with a few levels of unchained monk?

Stalker 100%. The problem is still that you don't know the system so you'll likely be overwhelmed by the complexity of your character, since you aren't starting at level 1, and stalkers are sort of like "monks, but with !spells that you want to cast 3 of every single round"

You didn't need to start a new thread, by the way.

I was trying to get it away from the specific character idea that people were going back and forth on, and use this as a discussion to figure out more about the comparison between these two and why people like them.

Why do I see people suggesting to dip a few levels into stalker to improve the monks ki pool and add some nice things.
