Helmite lore help

I'm thinking of running a Half Orc Cleric (life domain) and I'm trying to come up with a believable back story. So far my general thoughts are a human dad and orc mom are killed by a local orc clan and before they can kill the young half orc they are struck down by some passing Helmite clerics.

My question is would Helmites stop to save a young half orc and would they take the orphan in? I know that Helm is all about protection and loyalty but typically orcs are seen as evil.

Half-orcs don't have to be from two parents of differing races - there could be whole tribes or clans of humans with orcish blood in the story setting. Maybe the Helmites served as missionaries to one such tribe, or sent welfare to one during a famine, inspiring the boy to take up the helmite mantle?
