My group is getting ready to start a new mini campaign in our main adventure world and I get the Dubious Distinction of playing TWO (2) characters at the same time (one player has to be somewhere for a couple of months at the start).

I am looking at playing a bother/sister/twin something or other just for fluff but I am looking for two different classes that will synergize well together to go along with the familial relationship.

My immediate thought was twin Dragonwrought Venerable Desert Kobolds, One a Dragonfire Adept (BFC among other things) and the other one a Mailman Sorcerer to handle the blasting. Then I thought I would put it to the playground for other suggestions.

Play begins at 3rd level and we get to gestalt the racial paragon classes for those levels. All 3.5, unreplaced 3.0 and dragon mag are in effect as are DL, FR, and EB.

What say you, gentlebeings?

A buffer, whether cleric, wizard, or other full caster, and a melee build to take advantage of these buffs.

Not a bad plan actually. Seconded. I'd say barbarian and cleric... they complement each other very very well. If anyone touches his sister, he will fly into a rage. Great fluff, fun to play, simple to build.

Actually, I have never played a Buffer type, could be interesting. Could keep to the twin theme and do a half-orc barbarian / cleric combination. Hmm.. have to go look at Gruumsh and Kord and any other dieties I can find that half orcs could be hooked into.

Would help me to play two characters at once to since I have done the barbarian thing once before.

None of us are uber optimizers. I didn't even start playing 3rd Ed until mid August of this year (I go all the way back to OD&D and Classic Traveller). I haven't even read half of the books yet (I am working on it) although as A group we have everything except 4 (and Sons of Gruumsh is one of those dagnabit).

Which Specialist Wiz would be the best buffer?

I would definitely avoid playing two casters. Keep it simple - you don't want to sit there and go "hm hm hm what should I do this turn" and then immediately do the same thing again.

Barbarian is good, there's one decision (Rage/not rage) and then just full attacks all day. Plus it's hardy enough that you can survive tactical mistakes because you were paying attention to the other character. "Whoops, I accidentally walked into a flank, good thing I have 100 hit points."

Not sure on what class would be good, but Dvati Twins(or more accurately, Quadruplets) would be an interesting concept.

Sure would be (I do like it and will file it away), But I don't want the DM throwing books at me

I am going with; Twins (one boy/one girl), Barbarian (girl) and Cleric (boy) just to turn it around a bit (she was born first) "Don't mess with my 'little' brother!"

I talked to the player that is going to be out for 2-3 months, she's happy with taking the Cleric off of my hands when she gets back.

Now to figure out how to build a buffer.
