Me first.
Characters:
Gertrude Ironhammer: Dwarf Fighter (Best Friend)
Mildred Cottontill: Halfling Cleric (Friend)
Faye Lionadel: Drow Ranger (GF)
Leon Silversword: Human Rogue (Me)
Reena Balfaren: Elf Wizard (Cousin)
DM: (Brother)
Story:
We had just entered Tracht, a city that was ruled by the brother of a devil lord we killed at one point. Our party being the killer of this devil's brother means that he wants us jailed. No exceptions.
We get into a fight with some guards, and everyone is arrested and thrown in jail, except for me. You see, I dealt the finishing blow to Citharous, who was this guy's brother.
DM: "These two take you to the gallows to hang for your crimes. They tie the noose around your neck."
Guard A: "Any last words, scum?"
Leon: "Just these: tell my friends.....that they can't loot my corpse."
Guard B: "Nutjob...."
Me: "Before they pull the lever, I wiggle myself free!"
DM: "......"
Me: "You heard right."
DM: "Make a Dexterity check."
*Rolls dice*
Me: "Will a natural 20 do?"
DM: ".........OK. You manage to wiggle to the point where it won't choke you."
Guard A: "Hey, stop squirming!"
Leon: "Sorry!"
Leon (In draconic): "Jackass."
Guard A: "They pull the lever."
Me: "...and I swing on the rope, collide with that guard, then cast sleep on the other."
DM: "First, make an acrobatics check."
*Rolls dice*
Me: "19."
DM: "You gracefully swing on it, and let go. You go flying towards Guard A. Make an attack roll."
*Rolls dice*
Me: "23."
DM: "You hit him......"
*Rolls dice*
DM: "....and he falls prone. Now roll a Dexterity saving throw to stay standing yourself."
*Rolls dice*
Me: "Natural 20."
DM: "Wow! You stay standing. Now you cast Sleep on Guard B, correct?"
Me: "Mmhm."
*Rolls dice*
DM: "He falls unconscious."
Me: "I'mma steal his keys!"
DM: "OK, you have his keys, now what?"
Me: "I'm gonna go free the others."
DM: "OK. It takes a little bit, but you get there, find their cell, and figure out which key it is. The cell door is now unlocked and they are free."
The guards then showed up, and we were able to kick their ass, as they weren't able to corner us like they did on the streets.
TL;DR: Came to town, evil owner wants us dead, got arrested, I almost got hanged, and freed my friends.
