Which classes and archetypes work best with the new races following adventure league rules? This means can only be from core book so no long death kobolds sadly.

Orcs have always made great barbarians, and if you're allowed to play as a winged kobold (or an aarakocra for that matter), it'd make a good rogue or ranger. Tabaxi are, of course, natural-born rogues, and I'd love to play one sometime.

Hobgoblins are very good wizards. Get some armor proficiency and boosts to both Con and Int. Saving Face isn't a bad power, either. And everybody likes Darkvision.

Bugbears:

Great assassins
Surprisingly good monks
Great grapplers

Goblins:

Fantastic longbow battlemasters
Decent shadow monks
Surprisingly good bards (exp. stealth, bonus action hide)

Hobgoblins:

Great wizards
Surprisingly good arcane tricksters (net +4 to a skill check)

Gobbtopia rules!

I'm currently playing a bugbear assassin 3 / barbarian 2 / hunter 6. It's a ton of fun, and pretty great (though hunter is, of course, situational). That assassin 3 / barbarian 2 core gives you 2d8+ASM+2+8d6 (39) assassinations, bugbear reach negates the need for disengage on your reckless hit-and-run sneak attacks (dealing just 1.5 less than a equal level rogue) allowing for dashes dual wielding (making up that 1.5) or possible combat hiding, and you have advantage + expertise on grapples you can use to drag insane loads with your powerful build.
