Is there a Druid circle that gets the Druid an animal companion?

I seem to recall seeing one in a supplement of some kind, but now I can't find it.

You probably meant this (http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/may-dungeon-masters-guild-review)? There's the Circle of the Beast (http://www.dmsguild.com/product/173275/Druid-Circle--Circle-of-the-Beast) in Dungeon Masters Guild.

Is a 3 level drip into the UA Revised Ranger Beast Conclave...or 5 a huge sacrifice for a Druid of the Land?

Well, if you can live with a beast that has 2-3 or 4-5 hit dice over the course of your campaign...

And don't mind that you're now three levels behind on spell level progression.

Yeah but they're not real animals, they're spirits and it only lasts for 1 minute. Honestly it's more similar to the 4e Shaman than anything.

Ok. So your looking for something more specific. Sorry.

It's not exactly a beast companion you get from that circle. You can summon a beast spirit that is immobile and that can't attack or be attacked, and that remains in the chosen point for 1 minute or so and bestows an effect to those within 30 feet of it. Look at the one I linked earlier, I believe that's the one he was talking about.

If I may nitpick, you would only be 3 (or 5) levels behind your druid spell level progression; your spell slot level would only be 0.5 (or 2.5) levels behind.

Yeah, I think they're looking for something similar to the 3.5 druid, which got a ranger style animal companion in addition to the 5e druid powers.

At higher levels you could use the Awaken spell to make intelligent animal (or plant) companions to accompany you for a month at a time.

Yes, that's the one. Cheers.
